You're in the Movies bundled with Vision Cam for $60

If you're curious just how much it costs to make a B-movie nowadays you could always risk a fat lip and call up Uwe Boll ... or just talk to the folks from Codemasters and Microsoft, who are releasing You're in the Movies this fall. According to a Microsoft representative, the game is being bundled with the Xbox Live Vision Cam for the not unreasonable price of $60 (remember, the camera is $40 alone). We've asked for information on the standalone SKU and we'll let you know when we hear back.

I thought it was a joke when I saw it at E3, but since I was planning on picking up a Xbox Cam anyway, I may just have to put the extra $20 down for it.
ANTCEP @ Jul 17th 2008 6:52PM
it's nice to see they are giving you the eyetoy and the game for a reasonable price.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 17th 2008 7:55PM
I've also heard that the live camera is one of the best webcams you can buy.
TheOverlord#2 can has Animals Crossing? @ Jul 17th 2008 8:23PM
Now if only we could get Nintendo to sell Animal Crossing: City Folk and WiiSpeak for $60...

I have the camera and it sucks complete ass as a web cam. The Eye Toy from Sony is much better but only because it can pivot and has an awesome mic (no need for headset). My problem with the concept is that the camera is attached via USB to the console so there is no way to get shots outside of a couple of feet from the 360. They need to just make it compatiable with regular cameras and turn it into more of a neat little movie editing suite that require the vision cam. A man can dream can't he.
The PS3 does already have something sort of similar and it is a free download. The software that is.
vidGuy @ Jul 17th 2008 10:30PM
Yeah, the Live Vision cam is a horrible webcam when used on the PC. Get yourself a Logitech cam - the Quickcam Pro 9000 can be had for $75 and does HD capture and stream (if you have the bandwidth). On the 360, the picture looks ok, but only in good light. Otherwise it's a picture from 2001.

I wish they would just remake "The Movies."
Ridgecity @ Jul 17th 2008 7:44PM
The Movies was good, but you see everything in less than a week, If they had more content it would have been excellent, except it had already been delayed like ten times...
Mitsuo @ Jul 17th 2008 6:59PM
Ummm I wouldn't call Uwe's movies even B. amateur porn films have better acting and dialogue than his films.
Sora @ Jul 17th 2008 7:47PM
I don't know which appalls me more: the comparison you chose to use, or the fact that you know about both subjects enough to make that comparison.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 17th 2008 8:54PM
Sora I believe the true question is should we laugh or feel bad for the fact he watched a Uwe Boll movie? But I better don’t say this out loud I don’t want to have to face Uwe Boll in a ring like Lowtax.
News:Amateur Pron movies have dialogue, who knew?
(The “Uwe Boll + you are in the movies joke” was mine *sigh).
Mitsuo @ Jul 17th 2008 7:00PM
looks like Microsoft is ripping off the Eye Toy.
Benny @ Jul 17th 2008 7:03PM
Comments like this still amaze me.
neko to kuruma @ Jul 17th 2008 7:10PM
The 360 camera has been out for almost 2 years. :\
Mitsuo @ Jul 17th 2008 7:37PM
Eye toy as in the software coming out for it. I'm well aware of the camera being out, their just ripping off the games.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Jul 17th 2008 8:15PM
Yeah, and the Eyetoy ripped off the Gameboy Camera and the Dreameye.
Please, give us a break.
Elsnerma @ Jul 17th 2008 8:22PM
I sorta agree. While their isn't any Eyetoy game quite like this, the game itself is very reminiscent of one. I will say it looks much more advanced than any of the Eyetoy games.
I just could never see myself...wanting to play this. When they first announced it, I thought it would be an improv game, basically telling you to act out scenes or ideas...i.e. "say something dramatic and then look right into the camera" or "profess your love for Player 2". Then it would mix the scenes together in some clever way. Madlibs mixed with Whose Line Is It Anyway, is basically what I expected.
This however looks like a collection of minigames that relies heavily on prefabbed scenes and narration. IMO it would be much better if it lost the cheap bluescreen effect and minigames, and went for a more open-ended style. Honestly, pretending to swat wasps is going to get old the second time you do it.

Looks like they ripped of my grandpappy's reel to reel video machine.
BrotherSimon @ Jul 17th 2008 7:05PM
Seems really great.
I'm up for it.
Joe @ Jul 17th 2008 7:10PM
I think this is great news 60 is not a bad price at all.
Also any one know if Scene It 2 will come without the remotes. I own the first and don't want to have another group of controllers for this game.
Ridgecity @ Jul 17th 2008 7:15PM
I still remember the demo they did on the press event and, as much as I consider myself a casual gamer, I don't think it's going to get played more than once. I think the Sega game with the pirates and the american stereotypes people was 10x more interesting.
vidGuy @ Jul 17th 2008 7:15PM
At least it's in line with the other games. I'd like to see the game price by itself since I bought the Vision Cam Gold bundle (with 12 months of Live, headset, and UNO) for $30 from TRU this winter. Haven't had too many real uses for the cam yet and I thought about selling it off until I saw this game. If the disc is around $30 I'll probably get it.
AlwaysOn @ Jul 17th 2008 7:23PM
This game was so lame when they showed it on the show. Like an old ripoff of some even older eyetoy game. No thx... if they have to push the live camera sales please do sth worth it.
Lewis (RROD: July 16) @ Jul 17th 2008 7:31PM
Just...Please. Don't let us know. I'll pay you to not report anything on this.

I just want to know when the vision cam will get some decent Vista drivers. I'm not interested in using it for MSN.
moose @ Jul 17th 2008 7:59PM
the camera is $40? Where? If we are talking about the official Xbox Live Vision Camera, I got mine on Ebay for $10 bucks and I'm pretty sure I haven't seen it in stores for more than $30. I hate how these companies just make up prices!!......and as a side note in regards to ridiculous prices via ridiculous add-ons *cough* WiiMotion Nintendo *cough*...isn't it obvious that its as worthless as their 8 lb rumble pack and 4 mb N64 expansion pack?
vidGuy @ Jul 17th 2008 10:37PM
Sure, the cam can be had for less but it does retail for USD$40.

As to Nintendo's products, the rumble pak and memory card expansion both were innovations to the console world that have stuck, so they were worth something.
MaxShrek @ Jul 17th 2008 9:00PM
The Nintendo expansion pack... Fun stuff.
jake18oly (XBL,PSN: RSXtypeSfan) @ Jul 18th 2008 9:53AM
I am sure that my wife and I will be picking this game up. It looked pretty fun when they demoed it. It will only be fun if you have a group of friends but fun no less.
