Im getting it, this game looks great, i don't get what everyones complaints are, cod4 single player was horrible, they just threw waves of enemies at u, but no one mind. I think people just have it out for this game. It seems to be shaping up well, i can't wait to try a demo or something.

Looks like they are trying really hard to make it a great game. Hope they succeed in making a great game. But it seems they are going to hype this game way out of proportion. Thats never good.

Killzone 2 is gonna be good but doomed just because its been given the Halo killer title again.

You notice anything with that title fails badly or fails to live up to anything its said which is bad all the same and it might decrease sales.

This might sound dumb but Halo killers don't exist its like trying to kill FF it won't happen cause Halo basically main streamed Console FPSs. That might be giving Halo too much credit but so far anything before it that sold well in the genre that was on PC.

What are we supposed to be looking at there? The video stutters some and at first I thought it was the game, but then I watched the videos for Far Cry 2 and Motorstorm 2 and their videos did the same thing.

BTW, Killzone 2 looks absolutely fantastic in motion.

If it wasn't there it wasn't there do you really think they would just say that for no reason?

The videos I've seen from this game look just amazing.

This preivewer seemed kinda negative towards Killzone 2 in general.

Just have a look at this: www.gametrailers.com/player/36897.html

It just kills anything else out there. Killzone 2 will be awesome, I don't trust the guy from Joystiq previewing it. There have been like 30 previews of this game and NONE mention any framerate problems. Maybe this guy had to much to drink the night before and his brain wasn't functioning correctly.

I love how everyone who hasn't played this game is arguing against the review of someone who has. I'd say you should wait to have played it before you start critiquing critiques. It all just seems like rampant defensiveness on the part of fanboys otherwise.

It is all Fanboy boys who think there's no framerate issues and that the game is still in pre Alpha.

Well, to be honest, I've watched a bunch of gameplay videos and haven't noticed any frame rate problems in any of them. I've read plenty of previews too, and I don't recall anyone else ever mentioning frame rate issues.

It's nothing to do with being a fanboy, it's more to do with the whole 'critical thinking' thang.

Of course, I'm not saying Mr. Ransom-Wiley is lying, or that he's even wrong. Just that what he report goes against everyting else I've seen and heard about this game. But perhaps he got to play moments in the game where the frame rate does indeed suffer in the current build of the game, and these points in the game hasn't yet come up in any of the videos I've seen.

Let's take some time to remember the original halo killer, Brute Force.

I don't understand people. They want to see a game as early as possible, and when they're shown a game that they KNOW isn't finished yet, they immediately nitpick details that aren't quite right yet, and shit all over it by comparing it to games that are FINISHED, and are regarded as the best that genre has to offer. Not really a fair comparison in any regard.

If you knew anything about game development (and you don't), you'd know the last 4 - 6 months of game development isn't development, but making sure the game works flawlessly and DOES NOT CRASH. To do so, you can't change anything. Once you change something, you gotta start all over again making sure the game has no errors.
If you expect big changes when the game comes out, you're in for a disappointment.

@Jfk Aok

Actually, I DO know something about game development, and the last 3-6 months are not exclusively for bug fixing, it also has optimization. Don't go throwing around statements like I don't know anything about game development, because you don't know a damn thing about what I do and do not know about. You're just making yourself look like a fool.

Besides, if you go dig through your old EGMs (I think it was EGM anyway), there was an interview with someone from Bungie on the development of the first Halo. He said that the game really came together IN THE LAST MONTH of development.

You just cant throw money at something and expect something to become great. Of course, I haven't played the game yet, but watching previews...wow, so dull. The visuals are great (nay... more like unbelievable!) but the gameplay doesn't seem on par with Cod4, or GOW or even...dare I say Halo.
Killzone 1 SUCKED. It needed more than just a "next gen overhaul"...it needed a concept. It needed DESIGN.
And GG, you gotta learn to take steps. You can't just make an awesome multiplayer game that has "classes" like that. You gotta be experienced and totally knowledged before you can build a game like Team Fortress 1 or 2. And guess what...Valve is constantly changing that game almost a year later. That's how hard it is to make a balanced experience with 5 or 6 different classes. Infinity ward got it almost right with cod4, but they've been making games before you guys were even a company.

I don't understand "Halo Killer." When they went in as a Halo Killer, they were certainly screwed. But now, they're their own game. Which allows more competition through the other players.
Sure, the game graphics are amazing. The framerate, yes, I already know, it needs some work.
But you do known that they've already finished the game, and they're in the touch-up stage of their FRAMERATE, CINEMATIC IN-GAME CGI [voices, character movements, etc.], and the multiplayer is still being worked on?
I know you are well aware that this game is in the Pre-Alpha build. Did you also know that the game's Single Player Campaign is already at its Post-Alpha/Pre-Beta build currently? I don't know if you did. And did you also know that they released the Pre-Alpha at E3 and the previous E3 so that [*cough* in the near future, *cough*] when they show it off, it will be much better than previously seen?
You need to do some research with Guerrilla, my friend. But your essay is still nice and well written in the perception of the PRE-ALPHA BUILD. Maybe you should contain that in the title "Joystiq E3 Hands-On: Killzone 2 Pre-Alpha Build."

I'm not being mean, honest. Or critical. I hope not.
I'm just pointing out that by the time Sony has read this essay (trust me, they have people on the inside who read these), you'll probably see a drastic improvement. They read the essays, see what's wrong with the game, go to the devs, and make sure that they perfect the problems from within. Its a Sony exclusive. You know how Haze was treated with all the hype. Personally, Haze is one of THE WORST shooters I've ever had to waste my time and money playing. The campaign mode was almost as bad as the multiplayer. The only thing Haze had to offer that was REMOTELY fun was the Co-Op Campaign mode, Co-Op Multiplayer mode, and almost totally customizeable controls (its more fun with COD4 controls).
Nevertheless, a game with all this hype on being a Halo Killer, better not be one. Because just like Nintendo, they didn't make any promises about that. [but with Nintendo, they didn't promise any hardcore games]

Who the hell said the first killzone failed? Every critic out their continues to say that while every person who has actually played it loves it. The only killzone hater i know of are critics or gamers who haven't tried it themselves. If guerrilla was able to deliver a game with awesome gameplay (and bad graphics) the first time, do you really think the sequel will be bad. Yes killzone looked really bad but it played great. So i bet this time around it will play great AND look great ( for all those people who are obsessed with graphics )

It's the Other way around its awesome graphics bad gameplay mechanics everyone(critics) said that. Looks like you didn't take time to read the reviews and I agree it plays great....in multiplayer but single player is straight garbage all the technical problems(glitchy) and retarded AI ruined it for me.

Anyways this game is already in Alpha(maybe even beta but just waiting to get relased) stage getting prepared for beta thats it there's no Pre Alpha in a 3+ year development game that would've been released this year. It's just nonsense then that means they've made no progress.

I can see plenty of people trying to start a fire in these comments, but nothing's blazing so far. Has Killzone 2 reached a point where no one sees the point in waging fanboy war over it anymore, or have the Defense Forces gone on vacation?
