Missing@E3: Indiana Jones and the Vanished Game

Matt Shell, marketing manager at LucasArts, finally let us know that yes, they're working on something. However, they didn't want to talk about it at all. It just seems odd that they have one of the highest grossing movies of the year, based on one of their most iconic properties, and they don't even want to show us a photo of a whip and say "It's in the game." Jump on that opportunity, Lucas! Especially after you were honking your Euphoria physics engine so loud in 2006.

Wait, is that a silhouette of Indy or IGA?
phobic99 @ Jul 18th 2008 1:27PM
It's a shot from the newest Indy film (which I though was poo).
Daniel @ Jul 18th 2008 1:55PM
Kyattsuai,
I got it, very nice.
diamondxp @ Jul 18th 2008 1:19PM
Also Major Missing Games Alan Wake and Splinter Cell: Conviction
343 Guilty Fart @ Jul 18th 2008 3:31PM
Also missing: Joystiq's hands-on impressions of Little Big Planet. Or did I miss that somewhere?
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 18th 2008 1:32PM
Did you guys checked inside the refrigerator?
CaptNink @ Jul 18th 2008 2:08PM
LOL - well done! :D
Obie @ Jul 18th 2008 2:42PM
Fridge? No...the game is in the "spaces between spaces".
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 18th 2008 1:35PM
I want an Indiana Jones game complete with interdimensional aliens with big heads! YES!
dat @ Jul 18th 2008 1:41PM
My prediction is that a 5th Indy is coming out...hopefully better than crapfest 4...and that this next-gen game has been put on hold for release, with halting any type of excellerated development, till official news comes down that a 5th one is a reality.
My take. I await the bashing.
Cellien @ Jul 18th 2008 1:58PM
Also missing was Aliens: Colonial Marines from Gearbox/Sega.
Obie @ Jul 18th 2008 3:15PM
True! I am really interested in that game...what happened Gearbox?
Cellien @ Jul 18th 2008 3:31PM
E3's website even said the game was going to be there. :(
Jakka @ Jul 18th 2008 2:00PM
You know what? I liked Indy 4 and I don't give a shit if it's better or worse than the other three.Enjoy the movie for what it is and not for what the other used to be.
Nostalgia ain't gonna get you anywhere.
HenryJonesJr @ Jul 18th 2008 2:11PM
Indy IV sucked. Nostalgia had nothing to do with it.
Jakka @ Jul 18th 2008 2:32PM
...and why did it suck?
Almost any bad thing you can say about it, will basically come down to "It wasn't like the original movies/It was worse than the original movies." arguments.
And if you're trying to talk about the plot, bear in mind that 70% of those "hits" have a far more retarded story than a bit of aliens at the end.
Obie @ Jul 18th 2008 3:09PM
Nostalgia? Nostalgia is the distorted memory of something that does not live up to past glory.
Honestly, "Raiders" is still one of the best action/adventure TO THIS DAY.
And yes the Crystal skull was garbage IMO.
Dave @ Jul 18th 2008 3:14PM
I don't think the movie sucked--but some things sucked about it.
Here are two things off the top of my head that I thought sucked:
1) Refrigerator protection against nuclear bomb. It's good to know I have my own personal bomb shelter in my kitchen--just in case.
2) Aliens. Why is it that every time a non-European society achieves anything in the realm of science, math agriculture or architecture, they had help from aliens? It's egocentric, naive, and stupid.
Obie @ Jul 18th 2008 3:18PM
In any case, Jakka.
I am glad you enjoyed the film, I should not be giving people shit for their personal preferences. I apologize.
But I love Indy, and they had almost 20 years to make his return really special...and for me it simply wasn't.
Boscorooty @ Jul 18th 2008 6:04PM
No, I'm sorry. You should give people shit about their personal preferences if they liked this movie. Utter garbage. It has nothing to do with how good any of the old ones might have been. It's just a complete piece of trash.
There are so many terrible plot holes, inconsitancies, ludicrous inaccuracies, and impossible situations that the whole thing just becomes one giant joke. Poorly written, poorly acted, and poorly conceived. Just awful in every possible way.

After the massive shark-jumper (or, the sequel to the term that was crafted by this film itself, fridge-nuker)that the 4th film was, perhaps they felt it was best to just fade the series off for now
andyg8180 @ Jul 18th 2008 2:19PM
Wasnt this supposed to be out August of last year?? lol i remember i was excited... and then i forgot all about it
candafilm @ Jul 18th 2008 2:29PM
I was actually thinking about this game when I was playing Lego Indy last night. I remembered seeing it in one of the gaming mags, but that was it.
Snowblind @ Jul 18th 2008 2:45PM
I don't see why there's so much hatred towards the fourth movie. It wasn't as good as the third, but easily better than the second, and perhaps even the first.
And as for "jumping the shark" I take it you didn't see the other movies, the second movie in particular had a far more ridiculous plot. But I guess aliens is just too much, yeah? But there's nothing wrong with a 300 year old knight, a holy grail that makes people immortal, an ancient box from God that shoots lighning and a guy who can rip out peoples hearts..
Yeah, it's the aliens that take it too far. Never mind that they're an important part of this myth.
horngreen @ Jul 18th 2008 3:04PM
I knew Lucas hand his hand too deep in the Indy film cookie jar when I saw those lame ass digital ground hogs NOT ONCE! NOT TWICE! But three times in the film. Jesus I'll bet Speilberg had to pull in every favor he had just to keep Jar Jar from making an appearance. Lucas is THE BIGGEST hack in film there is. I'll put him up against Boll or Bay anyday.
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Jul 18th 2008 3:10PM
Who cares? If it's anything like the latest movie, it's not even worth a rental.
nidx @ Jul 18th 2008 3:52PM
My best friend is a level designer on it and based on the very few things he has told me about it sounds amazing
juju187 @ Jul 18th 2008 6:55PM
my dad works there too and i got an early copy
todd @ Jul 18th 2008 4:11PM
