You know what? I liked Indy 4 and I don't give a shit if it's better or worse than the other three.Enjoy the movie for what it is and not for what the other used to be.

Nostalgia ain't gonna get you anywhere.

Indy IV sucked. Nostalgia had nothing to do with it.

...and why did it suck?

Almost any bad thing you can say about it, will basically come down to "It wasn't like the original movies/It was worse than the original movies." arguments.

And if you're trying to talk about the plot, bear in mind that 70% of those "hits" have a far more retarded story than a bit of aliens at the end.

Nostalgia? Nostalgia is the distorted memory of something that does not live up to past glory.

Honestly, "Raiders" is still one of the best action/adventure TO THIS DAY.

And yes the Crystal skull was garbage IMO.

I don't think the movie sucked--but some things sucked about it.

Here are two things off the top of my head that I thought sucked:

1) Refrigerator protection against nuclear bomb. It's good to know I have my own personal bomb shelter in my kitchen--just in case.
2) Aliens. Why is it that every time a non-European society achieves anything in the realm of science, math agriculture or architecture, they had help from aliens? It's egocentric, naive, and stupid.

In any case, Jakka.
I am glad you enjoyed the film, I should not be giving people shit for their personal preferences. I apologize.

But I love Indy, and they had almost 20 years to make his return really special...and for me it simply wasn't.

No, I'm sorry. You should give people shit about their personal preferences if they liked this movie. Utter garbage. It has nothing to do with how good any of the old ones might have been. It's just a complete piece of trash.

There are so many terrible plot holes, inconsitancies, ludicrous inaccuracies, and impossible situations that the whole thing just becomes one giant joke. Poorly written, poorly acted, and poorly conceived. Just awful in every possible way.

After the massive shark-jumper (or, the sequel to the term that was crafted by this film itself, fridge-nuker)that the 4th film was, perhaps they felt it was best to just fade the series off for now

I was actually thinking about this game when I was playing Lego Indy last night. I remembered seeing it in one of the gaming mags, but that was it.

I don't see why there's so much hatred towards the fourth movie. It wasn't as good as the third, but easily better than the second, and perhaps even the first.

And as for "jumping the shark" I take it you didn't see the other movies, the second movie in particular had a far more ridiculous plot. But I guess aliens is just too much, yeah? But there's nothing wrong with a 300 year old knight, a holy grail that makes people immortal, an ancient box from God that shoots lighning and a guy who can rip out peoples hearts..

Yeah, it's the aliens that take it too far. Never mind that they're an important part of this myth.

I knew Lucas hand his hand too deep in the Indy film cookie jar when I saw those lame ass digital ground hogs NOT ONCE! NOT TWICE! But three times in the film. Jesus I'll bet Speilberg had to pull in every favor he had just to keep Jar Jar from making an appearance. Lucas is THE BIGGEST hack in film there is. I'll put him up against Boll or Bay anyday.
