Rumor: Nintendo Power to reveal Wii exclusive Sonic and the Black Knight
At the end of last month's issue of Nintendo Power, the editors promised a huge reveal in the magazine's following issue, teasing those anxiously awaiting Wii-exclusive installments in the Earthbound and Kingdom Hearts franchises. However, if the supposed scans of the cover of the upcoming edition of Nintendo Power that have begun to trickle onto the internet are legit, then the publication's big surprise could be coming from an unexpected source -- a new adventure of a recognizable blue rodent, titled Sonic and the Black Knight.Assuming the scans are real, the twentieth anniversary edition of Nintendo Power will give readers their first look at the title. No other details are given on the supposed cover, though we're sure the sole image of the cerulean speedster brandishing a broadsword is enough to send you into a tizzy. However, let us not forget the disaster that resulted the last time we bestowed a lethal weapon upon a hedgehog.

According to NeoGAF (they uploaded the scan), there is also some info about Star Fox.
Josh @ Jul 19th 2008 6:52PM
What is are the infos on Star Fox?
Also, this is the game also by Sonic and the Secret Rings, if Sonic Unleashed is not by them? It's a more possibility.
Thatoneguy64 @ Jul 19th 2008 7:35PM
It seems we finally found someone who speaks worse English than Fernando.
Congrats, Fernando, you are a college professor in English Lit. compared to this fellow
Benny @ Jul 19th 2008 8:28PM
I feelings that Josh is having a sarcasm.
Josh @ Jul 19th 2008 8:55PM
Oh, haha. I wasn't trying to make fun of Fernando or anything. I just felt like typing like that at the time... Sorry for any confusion, Fernando.
But still, I'd like to know what the magazine said about Star Fox.

Pedobear @ Jul 19th 2008 6:38PM
Hopefully the game is good. But with a picture of Sonic the Hedgehog holding a sword, I'm not going to get my hopes up.
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 19th 2008 6:41PM
Well... Sonic Unleashed is looking very good. And they have a Wolf Sonic with extendable arms...

theturtle363 @ Jul 19th 2008 6:52PM
um, is that a reason for or against?
Neil @ Jul 19th 2008 8:11PM
Yeah I know what you mean man, and as for Sonic Unleashed, it was looking good until I saw the "Werehog" element.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 19th 2008 9:27PM
Hey Fernando the SDF wanted me to tell you this:
"We don't forget"
"We don't forgive"
"Expect us"
(Fernando was once again downvoted for no apparent reason )
To be honest the werehog part would've been a lot better as a GOW clone but I like the platforming sections.Reminds me of Prince of Persia and Aladin for the SNES.
BPM [MSN: BPMdotEXE @ hotmail.com] @ Jul 20th 2008 1:04AM
Wow, downvoted for not drinking the Werehog Haterade... God forbid such a stupid thing could be fun!
Arttemis @ Jul 19th 2008 6:40PM
Yes, FINALLY a good Sonic game.
OBVIOUSLY the previous games flopped because he didn't have a sword!
I can positively say that this is what Sonic games should have been over the last decade.....
Abscissa @ Jul 19th 2008 9:22PM
I can just imagine some Sega suit stumbling across this comment, seeing the ranking of 3, and completely not noticing the sarcasm.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 19th 2008 9:13PM
Maybe if he had a chainsaw...
J @ Jul 19th 2008 9:28PM
Are you SERIOUS? You think a SWORD will be the reason this Sonic game won't SUCK like all the others? That's ridiculous.
Sonic needs a gun... on each hand... that shoot bullets. Not something whimsical like sunrays or twinkles you'd expect. And they should make it first person. Make him wear a helmet, and for goodness sake, some clothes. I'm sick of seeing him streaking all over the place. He's got nothing to show off anyway. Wouldn't mind as much if the camera was stationary, and he just blurs across it. And let Sonic die if the player crashes him into a solid wall, instead of just stopping. In fact, he should explode, crashing at those speeds. Explode like a grenade.
Now who wouldn't buy a Sonic game like that?
Okay, in all seriousness, i think game developers have had the hardest time adapting Sonic to a 3D world. Most of the other franchises have had no problem, but poor Sonic is still left behind. I'm not a huge Sonic fan, but I'm curious about how this'll turn out.
Abscissa @ Jul 19th 2008 9:38PM
"i think game developers have had the hardest time adapting Sonic to a 3D world. Most of the other franchises have had no problem, but poor Sonic is still left behind." - J
I did actually like Sonic Adventure and the Sonic/Shadow portions of SA2. Quite a lot, actually. But the problem is that instead of actually fixing the problems those games had (and they certainly had quite a few problems), Sega just ignored those issues and went running around creating more problems, and has been flailing around ever since.
Sora @ Jul 20th 2008 12:11AM
J, hear that wooshing sound above your head? I know I did, and so did some others.
J @ Jul 20th 2008 10:39AM
No, sora. I got the joke ;). I was playing along. I guess you thought i was serious about suggesting Sonic use guns, too, right?
It was in response to Abscissa's comment. I'll try harder next time. :)
Abscissa @ Jul 20th 2008 4:37PM
Actually, when I read the first paragraph of J's post, I thought he had missed the sarcasm too, and I was about to post something like "Dude: Sarcasm". Then I read the rest of the post (funny stuff, btw), and saw he was just playing along.
ronald.raygun @ Jul 19th 2008 6:42PM
yay they revealed a turd.
ugg.tryptophan @ Jul 19th 2008 10:36PM
its like lifting the toilet seat!
Kool_Kid_Joe @ Jul 19th 2008 6:43PM
Slight correction: this issue in particular isn't the 20th Anniversary; they've just had that logo up there all year. Last month's was the true birthday.
Kool_Kid_Joe @ Jul 19th 2008 6:44PM
This isn't the 20th Anniversary issue; the logo's just there because it's a year-long celebration. Last month's was the true anniversary.
Obie @ Jul 19th 2008 6:46PM
Werewolves and now swords *sigh*.
Lijik @ Jul 19th 2008 7:05PM
At least the Werewolf partially plays like a new Ristar game.
This though, ugh. There are just no words.
playwhutyalike @ Jul 19th 2008 10:41PM
Next up, Wereswords....
tehvoid @ Jul 19th 2008 6:48PM
Ain't it the NDS' Bioware Sonic renamed?
TimmiT @ Jul 19th 2008 6:51PM
Nope, this game is for Wii. Chronicles is for DS.
chulipin @ Jul 19th 2008 6:50PM
Oh, HELL NO!
Just what we needed The Legend of Sonic: Hedgehog of Time...
Pedobear @ Jul 19th 2008 6:52PM
I just wish they would make a Sonic the Hedgehog 4, a true 2D game in the original series. It would be nice if they would revisit those games in sort of the same way Capcom is making Megaman 9.
Abscissa @ Jul 19th 2008 9:23PM
*Fingers crossed for "Sonic CD 2"*
I'd love to see a new 2D Sonic game a la Megaman 9. Or like a "New Mario". Either way is fine by me.
I would very much prefer it was built around the style of either Sonic 1, Sonic 2 or Sonic CD instead of Sonic 3 or Sonic & Knuckles (Although, my brother would say the exact opposite).
BlaznGoldstein (Electric 6 Defense Force) @ Jul 19th 2008 6:54PM
Why doesn't Sega jump on the retro bandwagon and make a new Sonic game the way Capcom is doing with Mega Man 9? I would love some classic 2-D action!
Besides, to be truly honest with ourselves, Sonic just doesn't work well in a 3-D environment. And let's not even mention all these extra characters they've added....

I'm guessing the idea for Sonic & the Black Knight came from his magic murder bag.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 19th 2008 6:56PM
I'm sorry, but when was the last time Sonic was relevant again? I think it was so long ago MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice were still popular.
Squirrel3D @ Jul 19th 2008 9:13PM
I couldn't have said it any better. Sonic Unleashed is the game that will determite once and for all if I stop giving a damn about this once great series altogether.
Abscissa @ Jul 19th 2008 9:25PM
WHAT?! V-Ice and Hammer aren't cool anymore?!? Shit, now I gotta go get a haircut and buy new pants...Peace out, dude. Word to your mother.
