Get your first look at a LittleBigPlanet boss
54
When it was first announced that LittleBigPlanet's Sackboy would be going fisticuffs with all manner of textile-based baddies, we were perplexed as to how these throwdowns would be executed. After all, Sackboy doesn't exactly look like a fearsome opponent -- though we suppose the same could be said for overweight plumbers, oddly-hued rodents, and most other 2D platforming superstars.
However, this recent gameplay clip from Media Molecule shows off how everyone's favorite ambulatory sack will tussle with one of the game's bosses -- by using a moving platform to bounce his own exploding barrels back at him. It looks pretty fun, though not incredibly deep. Perhaps that's a good thing -- if bosses can be this simple, will we perhaps be able to create our own? We'll have to wait until October to find out.

Haha, Kratos would be cool, but I want a Ratchet and a Klonoa sackboy...
That reminds me, Namco, where is my Klonoa 3?!?!

Classic platforming is restored (right down to Donkey Kong-esque barrel jumping), and i'm liking the jazziness
The jumping still seems a bit... sluggish, though the pacing on the rest of it seems right. The checkpoint being where it was encourages experimentation, which is good for when you first fight the boss, but too easy after you understand his techniques. Hopefully there'll be something like Mario Galaxy's "daredevil" challenges, with the checkpoints removed

Remember... you can create everything and modify everything. So if the premade level you're playing has too many check points... you can just take them out. Same goes for making your own level, just don't put any check points in.

Let's hope they hire somebody who knows the difference between "your" and "you're" to proofread this thing before release!

Thats easily the most groovy boss I have ever seen, big mutant bosses with super strength are overated, this boss throws that out the window with sheer style and charisma ;)

Kinda lame. It would be more fun if they used a Boss-Level in a Shadow of the Colossus style.

@jakka, do you mean like the boss IS the stage, and you climb him up and attack his weak points while he tries to swat you off?
Good idea. Maybe you should get the game when it releases and design a level like that?

Looks cute. I agree about the jumping being a bit sluggish. Controls for 2.5D platformers can be tricky like that. I haven't played one yet that had as good of controls as regular 2D games. Even New Super Mario Brothers didn't have it exactly right.

Thats like saying Battlefield 1942 sucked because the single player was boring. This games main focal point is the multiplayer level creation, not the single player part which is mainly an added bonus and probably mostly meant for inspiration when you create your own levels.

I wasn't really excited for this, but after seeing that video I can't wait. Still not sure if it's a "System Seller" though.

The music is cool but...
That boss is a total blackface tarbaby! Don't they know people are sensitive about this sort of thing?

That video just finally got me interested in this game. Here it just looks like a regular platformer with some amazing graphics. I like that. I'mm glad you can just play boards and bosses and not have to deal with the multiplayer and user generated stuff.

This game could be a dark horse candidate for GOTY.

The game looks fun... but it doesn't look like a triple A title that the SDF is claiming. Seems like something that would hold my interest for 2 weeks or so max. PSN or Live Arcade title? Yes. System selling retail title? Nope.

You need to work on your attention span. The thing that will give this game long legs in the user generated content, ability to create, modify and edit your own levels and special levels from PS3 developers that are game centric. For example, Insomniac might do a Ratchet And CLank Level. You can create anything with this game. It is really for people who have some level of creativity. I can only imagine the type of levels we will see. Maybe some remakes of some of our older favorites for the 8 & 16 Bit era.

the amount of depth that is looking to be present makes me think it could be as popular as something like the sims, but on a smaller scale.

It seems to be a 2.5D platformer. I am curious if we can turn the levels into a pseudo shooter or a powerstone type of game.

Boring really. I mean how long did that even last? Like a minute at most?
And John you really think this is going to change gaming? LMAO. Yeah right. Spore I'll give you but not this...
This is so meh...other than the cuteness of the game I see no reason why it's such a big deal.
