Just to defend the so-called "PC crowd"-- reducing the focus on resource gathering and exploitation is hardly "dumbing down". I guess you guys don't remember World in Conflict or a multitude of other PC-based RTS games.

I miss 2D RTS, it provided a clearer overview of the battlefield...

There's also Company of Heroes, which also kicked down the resource gathering a good deal.

Sending out units to gather resources and building production and training facilities in the middle of a warzone is dumbing it down. Pulling those crutches away, making each unit valuable, is what it's all about. If you have some grunt hacking away trees or mining gold, you can easily field another unit by hitting a build button. Too easy.

You guys like everything....

I played the beta. The game is confsuing, the camera is horrible, and most importantly it's just not fun.

There was a time when McElroy posted an entry that said "Wario Land Shake it looks boring and not very fun." He was burned at the stake and replaced with Robo McElroy.

None of the other writers want to share this fate, and therefore like everything. EVERYTHING.

Punisher, what was wrong with the camera view? Didn't you get the command vehicle that gave you an overhead view of the battlefield? This is the same like in GRAW, if it's not in your line of sight, you can only see if with airborne drones, which the command vehicle has. Problem solved.

I played the beta, definitely didn't enjoy it very much.

The game offered you nothing in the form of a tutorial, it was more just go in and figure out what to do. I got my ass handed to me every time because I had no idea what was going on.

The voice commands worked great though, props to Ubi for getting those right.

Same here. I didn't feel connected and I couldn't see what the eff was going on, I wish they would still offer a birds-eye view so you can see everything at a glance. Something just didn't seem right. Maybe it's because the Beta had no single player to "teach" you?

But, the voice controls do work perfectly. I'll give them that. Hopefully they fix some gameplay issues.

didnt joystiq report on minority report style playstation eyetoy support on the PS3 support a few weeks ago. If that feature is in the final build of the PS3 version I will instantly buy it.

I played the beta (alot) and was seriously impressed by it. Such an early build and the voice control already worked perfectly, and I mean PERFECTLY, not once did it confuse any command i barked through my headset. Anyone who played it that bashed the fact it didnt have a tutorial didnt read the website...which had one on it that said in big red letters: BEFORE PLAYING WATCH THE TUTORIAL VIDEOS ON THE WEBSITE. And the problem with the camera? We were talking directly to the developers you small minded people, they understood it needed more views than those that were available and said they were fixing it... or didnt you post on the forums like a beta TESTER should have? All in all the game is fast paced and fluid. Teamwork was essential in the 2v2 battles and each factions specs seemed evenly matched with equal advantages/disadvantages. If the final version comes out anything better than beta i suggest a buy for sure. Definitely a something to look forward to.
