We were dying to know what that could mean, that is, until we heard the game's intro music, at which point were were simply dying. After a lunge for the mute button, we were actually pretty intrigued by what we saw. Do you think you might be open to some "frantic nautical combat"?

You're thinking of Shipwreckers! (a.k.a. Overboard!, in everywhere but North America), a Playstation game by Psygnosis that came out in 1997.
Fun game. Single player was about the same, and it had an awesome multi-player battle mode.
Plus, the music didn't make your ears bleed (and was actually catchy).

That's the game! I'm glad you reminded me of the name, it was driving me crazy trying to recall it.

That music is just plain terrible. They would have to pay me to listen to that crap anymore.

Music sucks.
I can't believe this but I'm going to complain about a vehicle in a game moving too quickly - The King of the Red Lions in Wind Waker was minute in comparison and it's turning circle was bigger than this full sized ship. The ship should at least feel like it is being powered by wind, not by a dozen speed boat engines.
It might be okay for a Wiiware game if the dog fights get intense and there should be a lot of options for RPG elements here such as adding things to the ship to improve fighting ability.

Yeah, it really sucks that it's only going to be available for a few days, doesn't it?

I'm just glad they didn't take me out of the gameplay every 2 seconds by pausing the game to tell me something they could have just as easily displayed while the action kept going.
Oh wait.

Why does the menu screen look like it's straight from 1993? Even the font reminds me vaguely of King's Quest or Krondor.

Actually looks cute and fun. :) My favorite part is the unenthusiastic "arr" sounds.

God awful menu music aside, the gameplay actually looks genuinely fun. o_O
