Sonic continues his storybook adventures with Sonic and the Black Knight, a Wii-exclusive Arthurian sequel to the Arabian Nights-infused Sonic and the Secret Rings. In this installment, Sonic picks up a sword "to aid in his effort to save the day," causing us to wonder aloud (stop staring at us!) if Black Knight could be one of the first third-party games to utilize the Wii MotionPlus.
Oh, and far be it from us to tell Sega how to run its show but, despite the opportunity provided by a recent industry event, the first you'll see of Sonic and the Black Knight will be within the pages of next month's Nintendo Power before its release in Spring 2009.

Cause we all know a sword is exactly what Sonic needs this generation.

I know is ridiculous.
Sega gave him a sword, what he really needed was a chainsaw to impress us.

Running with scissors = bad
Running with Excalibur = A new Wii Game featuring Sonic the "Looking for Decent Work" Hedgehog
Either way, Spring '09 is looking pretty stellar. I might just give out gift cards this year for the holidays since more interesting gaming stuff will be out after it.

Once the initial Shock warms up, I'm kinda liking the idea, Secret rings was cool and that sword looks pretty nifty.

Giving Sonic a gimmick hasn't worked the past times? We'll just try again. It'll stick one of these times...

I was kinda hoping Bioware wanted to do more Sonic RPG. Heavily modified Aurora Engine maybe?

Oh well. Seems like a step in the wrong direction after many praised Secret Rings for being a step in the right.

To be honest many of you seem to be judging the game for the image of Sonic with a sword.
I'm going to wait for a gameplay video before judging.
If it is like the Secret Rings with a better control I think it will be fine.

Secret Rings was OK, but the controls kind of sucked. Gameplay was more or less essentially 2D style but meh. I got pissed after trying the one windy level where you jump on top of weird dinosaur skeleton things because I kept barely missing, so I just stopped playing it.

If it's like Secret Rings, but the controls aren't total shit, I'll get it.
But I'm afraid they WILL be total shit. D:

I don't mind taking a character out of their element and making a different kind of game (hell, I like Star Fox adventures). But the game has to not suck, and Sega hasn't proved they can do that yet.

Eh can't be worst than Sonic 2006, that was the bottom of the barrel (Hopefully).
Secret rings wasn't bad, maybe this will be an improvement.
What I really hated about the 3D Sonic games and Ds games was the inclusion of more un-needed characters.

This is the kind of news that would have made Nintendo's E3 Conference a lot more exciting.

Nothing could've save that train wreck except a new Zelda game or a New Star fox but yeah it would've made the conference a bit less painful to watch.

I'll give it half a chance. If they go for a Devil May Cry or Shinobi style of fast paced fighting, it could work.

I think you guys are missing the point. Anyone else notice the nice "Chrono Trigger returns for DS!" line on the mag? Now that's news to get excited for! Can anyone find more info on that?
