Target cards reveal possible LittleBigPlanet release date

Target is offering up pre-sale cards for LittleBigPlanet that claim an October 21st release date for this eagerly awaited game. We've known it would be coming (hopefully, keep your cute little fingers crossed) in October of this year, and hopefully this date won't be changing. Plus we're still itching to get our hands on a demo before then so we can practice our sponge-collecting skills.

There's still no definitive word if Sony will be offering this up for download as well as the retail Blu-ray version. In this Gamespot video at about three minutes in, they say "We're hoping to have it on the Playstation Network Store as well." Maybe Sony's planning on releasing a trimmed-down version of the game for download, and opening up the full game to retail customers, similar to what EA has done by putting out the Spore Creature Creator as a free download in advance of the full Spore game coming later? Either way, October can't get here fast enough. Free candy and LittleBigPlanet? Sold.

Yes ThePerfectCompanion using the same “just wait” joke for over what 1 year now is always oh so funny ha ha ha (Seriously fanboys have used the same joke as much as PS3 fanboy have said just wait ,is really annoying)

Well for starters MGS4 didn’t flop so I guess that 1 game for the PS3.
LBP looks solid and pretty cool.
Socom is always a sleeper hit. It doesn’t promise much but it delivers.
I’m concerned about Killzone 2 the premise and first impressions are less than optimistic. Probably KZ2 will flop.

God of war isn’t going to flop, I mean the formula has been proven enough even on PSP it succeeded.

Take a lot of cool ways to kill a bunch of dudes + add a lot of gore + make the Main character Badass + place epic background music in every level + Complement with sick CGI cut-scenes and Naked women = Result WIN.

MGS4 = Not my cup of tea. It might come to the 360 and if so I might rent it to give it a try. However it wasn't really a huge a2 hit.

LBP looks boring as hell to me and ultimately pretty useless as far as a game.

R2 and K2 are laughable at best. Haven't heard much about SOCOM but it looks like it's another MGS type of game. Cult following but not really a huge mainstream title. Plus I haven't seen much of it to be truly that impressed or intrigued.

God of War 3 isn't going to flop like you said. I know that already. I myself find the series to be interesting but more from being a fan of any related to Greek Mythology. Cutscenes are wicked and the story is alright.

And then of course there's FFXIII...oh wait I mean FFXIII VERSUS since you know the main title (translation the one that matters) is coming to the 360 so I'm all excited for that.

Hopefully Versus is ported to the 360 as well since it may be a good side game. But if not that's cool with me.

I don't see any other huge games for that psTRIPLE to be honest with yah.

I can't even recall the last time any PS3 fanboy said "just wait...". I mean, every owner of every system is waiting on one game or another, but you almost never see anyone say that line except for people like Fernando or TPC.

Depends on what you mean by huge TPC. If you are counting huge as the likes of MSG4 & Halo 3 (exclusives to a platform) you're right. The ability for an exclusive franchise to permanently tilt HW sales has diminished. Halo 3 only briefly caused the 360 to outsell the Wii. GTA sold more on 360 in the US, and more on the PS3 in Europe. It didn't really cause any seismic shift in the ratio.

I guess I'm saying that your message is valid, but it's just as valid for the 360 as the PS3. Major titles such as GoWIII might cause spikes, but do not affect long term trends. GoW2 will do no better than Halo3 to tilt the market.

In the end, it might be non-game (Blu Ray, Netflix), or casual game (Wii-like) creative stuff (eg. LBP) that cements or upsets the 2nd place company. After all, if you're totally right in every respect, then something other than games is selling more PS3s than 360s worldwide nearly every week this year. The margin isn't great, but the gap has been pretty consistent.

What is with this crap about one or two games "saving" the PS3? From what? Lack of exclusives? They've shown off 22 exclusives just at E3, and there are at least 7 above average which are out right now. Better sales? It's sold more units this year than the 360 in the US according to NPD, and it already surpassed it in overall sales in Europe. It's far from the Wii but I'd say it's doing fine.

What's the problem with it that it needs saving? TPC, PS3 games don't interest you? Then don't get it, but what are you doing here?

Sackman is one of the ugliest gaming mascots since we saw real life Mario but for some reason he still is extremely likeable. It'd be nice to see him on PC or a Nintendo console since I'm not spending money for a PS3 just to get LBP.

Skip Resistance and put that $30 towards R2. It was a decent enough game at launch, but today we're living in a post H3, BioShock, and CoD4 world and Resistance just doesn't cut it anymore.

I got the MGS4 bundle, but I'm trying to finish the rest of the series first so it'll probably be a few weeks till I start it. I've just been trying demos for PSN games so far. I'll try SSHD on your recommendation.

If you're into arcade-ish racing games, Motorstorm's definitely got the goods. And for PSN titles, I personally love Pixel Junk Monsters. It's pretty much like a defend your castle type game, but the thing I like most about it is that it has co-op play.

I hate to be the naysayer, (I want this game as much as most of you), but the giant asterisc (sp?) next to the date can only mean one thing: the dreaded "Date subject to change without prior mention" kinda thing. I hope this is the real date, but I won't be surprised if it isn't.
