A sword game and you don't recommend a MotionPlus control scheme!?

4SA is 2D. There's no way to really use motion plus.

MotionPlus would do nothing for this game. If you really wanted to map sword swinging in a 2D game like this, the Wii Remote is more than capable.

I think you are not thinking creatively enough.

The MotionPlus can track the angle the Wiimote is being held. So hold it up for a high, straight for a mid, and point down for a low attack/block. Slash or thrust with the Wiimote. Any of those motions could be tracked better with the MotionPlus than with the Wiimote alone.

And the angle info could be used for more UI elements than just combat. You could push a button and twist to choose from a menu.

4 Swords is the only Zelda game I never really got into or beat. Although in fairness to the game, I admittedly couldn't get over how the game was split up into levels or stages. It was unfair of me, but I pretty much condemned the game based on that.
That and I mostly played it alone, since I didn't have or know enough people with GBAs, furthermore GBAs and GC link cables.

A friend and I used to play Four Swords at work, literally under the table, and we'd throw down our GBAs at first sign of being caught by our boss. Fun times, and a great co-op experience.

Nice ideas for a Four Swords revival. The forthcoming release of Mega Man 9 is really encouraging, too, as it's proof that developers still have faith in marketing a retro-style game. Four Swords isn't exactly retro, but it takes inspiration from SNES caliber graphics. I hope to see it come around to a new audience, along with New Super Mario Brothers 2, which is potentially a great Born for Wii (Ware) topic. Free of charge. ;-)

Two friends and I would play Four Swords regularly on the bus on the way to school in like, 9th grade. Good times.

Four swords was so awesome. I played this game with 2 of my friends, and it would take us forever to get through a level because we were always fighting/plotting to get the most force gems haha. Good times. I would love to see this on WiiWare.

Didn't nintendo say at E3 the ds team was working with the Wii Zelda team? Let's hope they weren't hinting at something stupid like a new tingle tuner.

I believe they said the Mario and Zelda teams were in communication. I don't believe there is just a "DS team".

I found the Tingle Tuner fairly useful. I didn't use it often, because I forgot about it, but when I had it out it was a helpful tool.

"And then, of course, we have the DS Zelda team as well, so even there we're having some switching of people in and out where the DS team is mixing in with the Wii team and working on the Wii version."

Also The Tingle Tuner was Nice in 2003, but if that's all they did with Wii/DS connectivity for zelda it would not feel like a worthwhile feature.

give it DS connectivity. The fact that you had to arrange a proper game of four swords meant it always took up the whole evening and became a night with friends. It also added some great gameplay. I guess making it a requirement could be annoying but the option MUST be there.

For me, Four Swords Adventures was all about the Game Boy Advance connectivity. Going into a house, and then having Link appear on the Game Boy was just exciting.

With four players, it would be very difficult not to have the extra screen.

Whoa! I was just talking about this possibility with a friend of mine today. He, another friend, and I used to play that game all the time. I always stole force gems from everybody else at every opportunity...ah, good times.

But now the three GBA-GCN cables that I bought just sit there unused.

Between peripheral-free DS connectivity and Online play?

That series is overdue for a revival

Hey, I know this isn't about the zelda game, but since re4 most people would have wanted the new RE for the wii, I was trolling through wii news sites and found this interesting little tid bit, and I know I would want a "Born for Wii: Resident Evil 5". http://kotaku.com/5028022/segas-president-casually-mentions-resident-evil-5s-wii-release

I was thinking about 4 swords coming to Wii, and I think that has potential to be one of the best games for Wii. The DS connectivity would be awesome, and online could make use of Wii Speak. It could maybe also have pay & play features, so you could download new battle maps or minigames, or maybe a bonus section of the map where you could download new areas and dungeons to explore. I would buy that the day it comes out!
