Here, in all its compressed glory, is the first actual screenshot of Sony and Zipper Interactive's 256-player MAG: Massive Action Game. We say "actual" because it was clear to anyone with eyes that Sony had pulled another Killzone 2 with the MAG video debuted during its pre-E3 press conference. In other words, it was all pre-rendered.
MAG senior producer Rade Stojsavljevic posted the shot to the official PlayStation blog, calling it "a sneak peak from one of [Zipper's] internal play sessions." Stojsavljevic also said that the dev has used its experience working in online games with the SOCOM franchise to create an entirely new server architecture for MAG capable of supporting its, well, massive amount of players.

psn uses dedicated servers with games like this, there will be no lag. believe it, i know its hard to, when you lag horribly in a 16 person halo game it is understandable why you can't fathome. ive never had a laggy 40 person resistence match, and only lag free 32 person warhawk matches. 60 person resistence and 256 person mag seems well within the range.

Count yourself lucky Halo 3 is a f*cking lag fest for me. It really sucks when I have 1st place and suddenly there is a connection spike, the game ends abruptly showing me 4th place all of the sudden.
Halo 3 needs some sort of way to display your connection before the match starts to see if you are able to play like in TF2.Red light okay I guess I’ll play something else, Green light awesome time to kick ass and take names.

So is this an FPS? Cause if it is I'm not buying I'm fed up with the same generic things every year KZ2 and R2 keep me company if I want to play FPSs on my PS3.
Do we have to pay for Subscription fees?

Having loved some of Zipper's past games...in particular SOCOM 2 (more than 3).......
This will either be a spectacular success or a horrific bastion of bantha poodoo.....
There really has yet to be a console game to really make 64+ players an enjoyable experience.....
so we'll see.

Um yeah sure, like GT5, Home, LBP. More Sony potential for sale. AWESOME. The level of fanboy denial is still stunning. You paid top dollar for a blu ray player that plays gimped down 360 games. Deal with it.

Erm...call me sceptical but we are talking about a console which region locks 16player online games to your continent, and still lags disgracefully. GT5P I'm looking at you.
BF2 on the PC, which came out 4 years ago now, pushed the boundary to 64players and that lagged to f*-k as well.
Doesn't bode well is all I'm saying.

Forget lag and servers and crap.
The 1 question I have is: To what extent can I customize my character?
I mean, can I run out into the battlefield wearing a sponge bob square pants outfit and own noobs, so when they are crying from being owned, all they remember is that yellow square pwning thier ass, or will we just be able to boringly chnage our faces and outfit a little ¬_¬?

Running around in a yellow outfit in a Brown / Grey-ish game, oh yeah that surely won't call any attention.
