Have you noticed that although many hate the Wii for being casual, the Wii is giving a decent amount of good press to gamers? Many non-gamers don't avoid video games like they used to, or say that video games waste your life. Since the casual market is praising the Wii now, the general message is that video games can be fun.

(sorry if my grammar sucks)

the new Wario Land seems to reinforce this theory, as does their efforts to promote and distribute the new Fatal Frame. despite their keynote's best efforts to destroy my faith in them, the actual facts, and not the FUD, are keeping me on board

But they need to get rid of this bitch fast. Dumber than Perrin and a helluva lot more annoying

Ah Joystiq drama. Why do I bother these days? Seeing all the bashing and threatening comments makes me want to call the WAAAHHmbulance, but it looks like the defenders are just as bad. Why use reasonable thought and analysis when knee-jerk reaction is much more fun?

Most of you are just too blind to see that much of the "hardcore" (whatever that means) content can (or will) be found via WiiWare (and XBLA, and whatever PS3 has). I mean, Mega Man 9 fer cryin' out loud. Unless "hardcore" means "I only buy store releases from big names". Zelda and Mario aren't the only games in town (so to speak).

And who says Ninty has to rely on first-party, anyway? Their past chart-topping consoles didn't come to be that way because of first-party games. No console ever does. True, Ninty could do a little (a lot?) better in reeling in 3rd-party support, but if Mad World is any indication, perhaps 3rd parties may find life in this console after all. And let's also not forget Rock Band.

Conclusion? Go ahead, sell off your Wiis like you've threatened to do in your nerd rage. Go and buy another console with that money. Give yourself a pat on the back for being good and principled when it comes to the [hardcore] gaming world. But don't ever pretend that Nintendo (or Sony or Microsoft or EA or Activision or Square, for that matter) ever cared about anything more than fishing money out of your pocket. In the end, you're just another blip on the radar of the Marketing and Sales departments.

Of course it's all about money. They provide me with entertainment, I give them money in return. It's when I see Sony and Microsoft's excellent lineup of games this fall/spring season and a wasteland on the Wii that I have to re-evaluate whether or not the utility I'm getting out of this machine is worth more than what I could sell it for. So far, I haven't decided.

Damn Nintendo. If you love us so, where's our Starfox Wii? If not that, how about using that colourful history of yours and great minds (not greed) to make great games? May I suggest another F-Zero if you can be asked?

Haha, to read some of the stuff you guys are saying. Nintendo has never been about making what YOU want and if you have been buying Nintendo products, well that just means you happen to like what they are doing. They have been going down hill ever since the SNES and now that they are on top again and selling stuff like crazy you do not like their way of things? Weird. What most of you fail to notice is that hardcore games are growing STALE and boring. Nintendo is trying to change that and if you are to busy in your old habits to realize that then bummer to you.

EMaster- You should've sunk that 5k into shares of Nintendo. They've made me very happy as an investor. Especially during these times.

As a gamer.... eh.
I'm glad to see people who once hated games picking them up but I really don't see nintendo doing anything too interesting for the hardcore gamer. Capcom seems pretty dependable considering they made millions off of RE4 wii and are now hoping to match the success with a wiimake of Dead Rising.

I had a feeling things were looking bad when everyone was raving about nomoreheroes. I thought that if that's all it takes to get hard core nintendo gamers excited, we're going to keep getting the cheap stuff. And after seeing what happened to Burnout and Resident Evil on the DS I can't say I'm too optimistic about GTA:CW either.

You'll just have to enjoy it for what it is because they aren't going to quit the family friendly theme or the low cost of production while they're making this much money. They are a business after all but don't worry, they'll com crawling back to you once the casual well has dried up.

The question is, will you be able to forgive them?

I'm not sure forgiveness has anything to do with videogames. If Nintendo makes good games, they'll sell. If they make bad games, well, they'll probably sell even better......

Okay, how do I actually log in and view my own profile?? This is ridiculous. They should really have a sign-in button on the front of the site.
