Holy red Gears of War 2 Xbox 360 Marcus Fenix! It's red! It's Gears-inspired! And it can be all yours if you're willing to play Gears of War online and have luck on your side.

Beginning tomorrow, July 23rd as part of a new Play & Win giveaway held over on Xbox.com, Gears of War gamers will have a chance to win a red comic book inspired GoW2 console, GoW2 t-shirt or a GoW2 poster. A total of five consoles will be awarded, one daily through July 27th, and all you have to do to enter is register and play Gears on Xbox Live each night to receive an entry. The more you play (up to five entries) the more chances you have at winning a pretty new console. Also, if by some random chance, an X3F fanboy wins a gorgeous red console, be sure to get in contact with us. We'll more than likely offer you rare jewels, pure gold bars and our soul in exchange for your console winnings.

I "won" once during the xbox live is 5 play and win, but I was disqualified because my membership wasn't one from the original xbox live service. I didn't read the fine print. That was under gamertag: ItAintEzBnWhite (you can search for it on xbox.com and it'll show I won a crummy third prize...but I asked customer service about it and they gave me that answer.)

I'm sorry to double comment, I just re-checked and found I "won" the crummy Sixth prize.

I won 1,000 MS points off one of these play and win games.

16,000 Microsoft points showed up in January from a November win. Still spending them as wisely as I can...

Why are these sweepstakes always US only? Us UK gamers would love that console just as much as you Americans :-(

Why do they offer the chance to win a 360 when the entry requirements also require you to already own the console?

Very good point Karl, I wonder the same thing. I know the first thing I would do is sell my old Elite and just replace it with the new one so it does seem like a odd promotion.

Actually, you can enter the contest via snail mail. The prizes aren't actually announced until September 1, 2008.

Not sure. It says "...for each day you play online." So does that include online co-op? I'm guessing no. I'm thinking it has to be ranked or unranked matches.

So what's the deal, I register and start playing every night? Is it correlated to how many hours I play Gears online in that period?

I looked at the official rules, and what I gather is that there is one drawing for each day. You get your gamertag in the drawing once per hour, so potentially you could have your name in the hat 24 times per day. I know the quick descriptions read a little differntly, but that's what I gather from the "small printed" rules.

How do I know my gamertag is being placed in the drawing, per hour? Do I get a message online? Do I just fire up Gears and play online regularly and it'll count for those hours?

And why is MS saying 'you can't have more than 24 times of entries'? it's impossible if it's per day. Otherwise I now have a much better understanding, thanks for the help.

You won't get a message or anything. I imagine xbox live's servers just log it all automatically. They say you can't have more than 24 entries per day probably to cover loopholes. Notice that you can enter by postal mail as well, so I guess it's to cover sending a letter for each day and playing for 24 hours each day. Good ol' legal speak.

Well that's crummy, I'm not old enough to enter, time to bring out my friends Gamertag. Luckily for me he lies about his age xD

I could care less I'm just glad they are selling the controllers standalone that means not only do I not have to buy SOCOM to get that headset but I don't have to check the net to see if anyones selling the controller for 1000 bucks I'm pretty lucky.

I'm in the Uk, but I can live without this, so even though I play Gears non-stop still it's all good. The figurine collections, novel and Gears 2 will suffice. Gotta say though, it's soooo pretty!

So where is this gamerpic that i need to download? I dont see it anywhere on XBL.
