It's just a game. If you can't handle a cartoon-ish game called "Fat Princess" and feel the need to piss and moan to everyone else about it, then I've got a solution for you: unplug your computer, throw out your computer, and sell all your video games and gaming consoles. The internet doesn't need your whiny bullshit.

What's next? Are native tribes going to start blogging about how much they hate Zelda because they view the Gorons as mock portrayals of them? No. You know why? Because they don't and they aren't.

If you are going to call yourself a "Gamer" (which I'm assuming you do, because that's the site name) then you need to grow up, become a little desensitized, and realize that IT IS JUST A GAME.

I think this whole thing is stupid. Why don't I see any stories or hear anything when gaming companies come out with games with T&A all over the place? I would be more upset with that than a game that has a fat girl on it. Girls are portrayed horribly throughout the entire gaming industry. I totally agree with you. There are quite a few games out there that degrade women and I think it is sick that women are portrayed that way. I actually think the fat princess is less of a problem than all the games portraying women in barely any clothes or nude.

I can't believe that people are angry at this game because it features getting a woman fat. I would maybe understand if you had to get the woman skinny to fit the way society wants all women, but they are going against society and still get criticized. My retail job is all managed by women and I swear they are all on the same cycle. When the guys are around, we just get the job done, but NO, the women have to over think and bitch about EVERYTHING. I'm a female gamer as well, and I can see that this game wasn't meant in the way these feminist are going at. I understand differing opinion, but I find these types are the over sensitive types. Its just not anything malicous about this, IMO. I also feel like some are just not informed enough or looking for any little thing to nitpick about.

when the first lament popped up on shakesville, there was a debate in the comments section that called the movement's motivation into question. people had valid questions about the outcry, when the most vocal detractors seemed to know very little, if anything, about the premise of the game. people with valid questions were attacked and being called bigots, without any of their inquiries addressed. other than these "bigots", no one had anything productive to say. instead of owning up to their outrage and arguing their positions effectively, all comments that did not agree with the feminist notion were deleted, and comments were closed. therefore, this is not to be taken seriously and should not be news.

I'm a woman too, but i still don't get why people are so offended by this. They aren't making fun of women. Nobody says that they hate women. It's simply a game, and it's sad that so many people are offended by a game and not women that give other women a bad image. Like all those girls that throw themselves after men. Finally, if you look at the screen shots for the game, it looks pretty unimpressive anyway. It certainly doesn't hold a candle to some of the newer games with the graphics, thought provoking gaming skills, etc. I think we are all expounding a lot of effort over something that probably won't even hit primetime!!!

I just stumbled over an article about all this conflict on yahoo by
chance. There are some fun OPINIONS here and I am bored so I want to
play. Frankly it is just a game and if you don't agree with it don't
support it. As a gamer I do not feel compelled to buy the game
because it seems boring. Food for thought though I think we should
see how people would react if it was "Fat Prince". Yes women are
naturally more sensitive than men and tend to be offended easily. Its
years of oppression built up and exploding finally. Keep in mind
though that the most dangerous thing to be is a straight, white, male
right now. Say one wrong thing and your ass is sued. Maybe I hang out
with more guys than a girl should but I sympathize. I am also a bit
over weight but I control it the best I can. The one thing I don't do
is mope around and bitch about it. It doesn't cause me to lose weight
if I do so and makes me a miserable person to be around. I
accentuated my personality and a few of my more pleasant physical
features and it all balances out. Love the skin you are in and people
will love it too. Everyone is beautiful in their own right, they just
need to balance out everything. Having a sense of humor helps a lot
too. People had problems with Lara Croft and now this. No one image
of a woman will ever make anyone happy because there is no real one
perfect depiction of one, or of a man for that matter. This is a
media and there is freedom of expression in that. It never had to be
a person at all, it could have been anything that got bigger in the
game, but that is the subject they chose. Who are we to tell them
they cant express themselves in this manner. Isn't that what we are
all doing right now in this forum? Things that offend people are fun.
Until I see someone committing suicide over this, I am gonna chalk it
up as not that big of a deal. Although that which does not kill us
makes us stronger... meh, I killed my boredom. I'm done for now
