The deafening din of a million, argumentative keystrokes. Silenced. The endless wave of hyperbolic, hyperactive hype. Held back. The battle of technology, software and back-of-the-box bullet points. Over. At last, the console wars can draw to a close, the vision of its victor burning bright in our minds and hearts as it crushes off-white shells beneath its monolithic frame. Here is the "ultimate proof" that Sony is winning: A CNBC business reporter and Los Angeles Emmy award winner, Jane Wells, has a son who totally ditched his 360 for a PSTriple.
Now now, don't discount the 16-year old boy's prescient abilities -- Mom writes he "tells me the latest trend three months before I read about it in the media." An avid Xbox fan, trend watcher Jane Wells Jr. (not his real name) decided to trade in his cherished system for a PlayStation 3, shortly after hearing about a little game called Metal Gear Solid 4 in Sony's E3 press conference. Sony's 2008 E3 press conference.
Following this discovery, not to mention news of other exclusive titles and "the awesomeness of Blu-ray," he "promptly packed up his Xbox 360 and all his games and went down to Game Stop to trade them in." And that about wraps it up for Microsoft and Nintendo. Our biggest regret in all this? Not telling our mom about that time we sold our PlayStation to fund the purchase of best console ever, the Dreamcast. We could have made a difference.

Wells, Jane Wells Jr.
No one can stop him but Microsoft tries,
young Wells cuts through each web of lies,
he bought a PS3 just for one game,
but he'll be back to the 360 again,
Jane Wells (Wells, Jane Wells Jr.)
Look out he is comin' through,
he's gotta job to do,
while he rescues the girl,
James Bond Jr. chases games
(James Bond Jr. chases games)
Like a n00b.
... I have no idea how that just popped in my head.

This has been making news for some reason, possible due to the fact that 360 fanboys are getting scared or something. But seriously this should not be news. And ive read so many comments about how this lady is an idiot (which i disagree with, she's not a gamer so what does she know, we can't diss her for that), this is an opinion piece, its like me writing a blog and it getting posted.

My problems with this post...
-"Now now, don't discount the 16-year old boy's prescient abilities"- I don't know about the rest of you but I have met a few 16 year olds who were a little rash.
Um MGS 4 came out on 12 June, 2008 can I hear a "Have you seen my baseball"
And finally
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has issued Konami’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with a “Mature” rating, which means Americans will have a hard time trying to obtain a copy of the action/shooter on the 12 June, 2008 if they are under the age of 18.
She should stop the degredation of American society by paying attention to the ESRB rating on the game and by him a more appropriate game like catz, dogz, or tigerz...

What people don't understand is it isn't an either or situation. I own both, but I have 3 friends with 360s, all of which have disc drive problems. Everyone knows about rrod, but this disc drive stuff is unbelievable, the lens actually ruin the game so even if u buy another xbox they still dont work.
Now that exclusives barely matter, why not get something that works at that sony wont throw in the trash when a new console comes out, like the original xbox compared to ps2. The 360s hardware is unforgiveable, and that is why they plan on an xbox 3 years before a ps4 or wii2, because they are the worst console ever made, not because ps3 has bluray.
Now that nintendo is winning with the WII why would microsoft rush to built another console unless...

I had a friend that actually did that last generation. Started with a Dreamcast, traded that for a PS2, traded that for a Cube, and then finally traded that for an XBOX. He definitely wasn't the most decisive person. Or the most thrifty.

Idiots like this kid keep GameStop open. How can their business model fail when there are certifiable idiots making them loads of cash?

Wait...so this is really the story CNBC is trying to give? Some kid traded in one system for another and it's the end of the console war? I know plenty of people who have traded in their Wii's for 360's, and others that have traded the PS3 in for the other systems...I guess they just don't predict the next trends like this kid.

The same movies you watched 10 years ago, but in a slightly sharper picture and a higher cost. A-mazing!
Seriously though, can we stop this trend where people feel like they can't comment on this stuff without prefacing their comments with "I own both systems, so..."
I don't care if you own both systems, all three, or none. Not all of us want to spend our money on every video game machine available, and we all have the right to an opinion, regardless of what system(s) we own. No need to add this disclaimer to all your comments.

I hope ur at least trying to give the ps3 games a chance. But there probably not to ur taste, just like how many 360 games aren't to my taste. to thosesmackign blu-ray, it is awesome, and y would buy ur old movies again on blu-ray, hope u know that they do release new movies too, i bout no country for old men the day of release.

"That's my point and consider all the under 20 y/o gamers who wouldn't tune into CNBC. Hence the 99%. :-)"
Except that the average video game player is 35 years old according to the ESA.

I hate mine. I bought it for $100 when it just started to die out, because Soul Reaver 2 was supposed to come out for it and it was cheaper than the PS2. Jokes on me. They canceled the Dreamcast version the week after I bought it.
... Now I can't even sell it for $10. It is a cruel reminder of $100 spent on a lie.
I'm not surprised the kid knows trends before the media does. Any tuckfard with an internet connection could do that. By the time the media reports on it, it is already over.

The lie was spoken by Sony who talked so much bullshit about the PS2 and how it made Dreamcast look like Pong... when in reality, nothing was further from the truth. They did the same thing with PS3 vs 360 but people are starting to get wise to their hype machine that is built on a house of lies.

I think we learned from the Nintendo Press Conference that Moms should have nothing to do with marketing video games.
