Virtuoso Mission: Satriana, Vai tracks hitting Guitar Hero III

Activision is set to add three new tracks to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock's downloadable setlist. Songs from true guitar heroes Joe Satriani (above) and Steve Vai will be available to download this Thursday, along with another from Buckethead, the guitarist best known to gamers for the GH2 track "Jordan" and rock listeners for wearing a KFC bucket on his head while playing. (Though likely not for having worked on the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie soundtrack.)

The DLC – aptly titled "The Virtuoso Pack" – has yet to be priced, but three song GH3 sets have historically cost 500 MS points (or $6.25 from the PlayStation Store). Here are the specific tracks, complete with video links for your memory-jogging pleasure:

"Surfing with the Alien" by Joe Satriani
"For the Love of God" by Steve Vai
"Soothsayer" by Buckethead

True, but Surfing With The Alien is probably the worst song they could pick from that album. Midnight would have been fun, though. All those hammer-ons..

Summer Song would've been the best pick. It's the one every guitarist tries to learn.

Someone hasn't played Guitar Hero Aerosmith, or has seen the newer DLC. Neversoft has gotten their shit together.

My friend was just talking to me on Saturday about how there should be a Guitar Hero: Virtuoso, or at least a song pack..

Too bad people stopped caring about Guitar Hero III months ago.

then why is it still played more than Rock Band?

I'd come back to guitar hero for a short while for some of the Vai and Satriani.

Pretty much the best download pack for any music game ever. I'm pumped!

Oh, how fresh. A three-song bundle, where you can't buy the individual tracks, and the songs won't work in the sequel coming out in the next couple of months.

Actually, GHIII DLC is compatible with GHWT. Though I wouldn't expect any added instruments for these when they are played in WT.

How would that affect the Wii version. I'll be buying the Wii version of GH:WT, but i want the downloadable content from GH3 available to DL for the Wii version World Tour. MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Why anyone would want to buy these seperately is what suprises me. I would pay 1000 points for this pack, for crying out loud. This is perfect.

Big fan of both virtuosos here, but 'Surfing with the Alien' blows. It'll be fun and all it's not a great song, overall. Why not 'Midnight'? At least 'For the Love of God' is a complete song and not just a crazy long boring guitar part. I still would have preferred 'I Know You're Here' though.

eh honestly their gonna pick their more well known tunes. i woulda liked, personally!!!, summer song or the traveler but hey @ least we will get some virtuoso's!!! wait a MINUTE!!! we ALREADY DID HAVE ONE!!!! uhh anyone forget eric johnson was apart of the first G3 jam with satch and vai!!!! o i am good!

And with that I am now REALLY excited for GHWT's DLC.

Also, this is the first time I am buying GH3 pack since the Muse one.

Surfing with the Alien is a great guitar-centric song, perfect for this kind of game. Wish they'd add the rest of his work, I'd go ape over some Satch Boogie!

Despite them not having vocals (which is a good thing!), I'd rather get them on Rock Band instead.

Thats the only thing I don't see Rock Band doing. I really love instrumentals, but with the rate Rock Band is doing, it seems that they won't do them. I know World Tour is doing them, though. (Create a Songs will be instrumentals)

Those specific songs may not have vocals, but Vai, Satriani, and Johnson all have plenty of songs with vocals.

Satriani AND Vai both immensely suck.

Joe Satriani is awesome. This is the best DLC to hit GH III so far. Steve Vai is also a sweet guitar player. I would have prefered crushing day but surfing with the alian is a awesome song too.
