Some will tell you they heard the solemn ringing of the death knell as it echoed through the barren halls of the LA Convention Center last week. Was this the final E3? ... This?
Nope. The Electronic Software Association has revealed its plans to organize at least one more E3 event, stopping short of actually detailing the who, where, when, and -- most pressing -- the why bother? "As we do every year, we're beginning the process of surveying exhibitors and attendees to determine potential changes to the Summit," an ESA representative told GameSpot. "Once this is completed and shared with the ESA's Board of Directors, we will make an announcement about the specifics of the 2009 E3 Media & Business Summit, which will occur."

Next year, I'm hoping Nintendo will make up for this year's shitstorm and every OTHER company will do what you just described.

Mr.ESC
First, its "What Happen?" there's no past tense to it. If you're going to be a blatant 360 fanboy at least get things right. Also, what good blockbuster exclusives does 360 have when you look beyond Halo and Gears? Yeah thats what I thought. Nothing.

my question is why the whole sudden FFVII remake is coming news is going all over the internet?
the rumor is years old i think from a tech demo. now everywhere i go some people are stating that it will be displayed in TGS or the august 2nd thing. why all of a sudden is it from nothing pre E3 hype now post E3 is it like the definate thing?
on topic: eh the fact i can't see it I really don't care which formatt as long as i get my annoucements. i think they are better served if they make it like TGS and make any person can go it will be a better use of their money.

I honestly never saw any indication that a remake was going to happen. Remember that Square did a real-time recreation of the BallRoom scene in FF8 as their PS2 tech demo, and nothing came about from it because it was just that, a tech demo and not an announcement of a remake.

i'm so glad that the ESA surveys the crowd every year, not so glad that the ESA goes the opposite direction. at least they're fighting the NY bill?

I always wanted to attend E3, and now that I'm finally in a position to go if I could it's getting all lame. I guess one could blame it on the current state of the U.S. economy but I've been under the impression that systems and games haven't suffered at at all. Rather they have had great success the past couple of years. I suppose there is always PAX which only gets bigger and better each year. Too bad.
As for the FFVII remake hulabaloo who cares. Its just going to be more over dramatized androgynous beings (aside from Cait Sith and Red XIII...and maybe Barrett). Square has been putting it in fanboys' materia slots for years with all these crappy FFVII spin-offs.

So are we supposed to feel sorry for the people that have to go to another E3?
