See first trailer for Prince of Persia: The Fallen King
It was then we realized what wasn't included in the trailer: Our almost comically meaty hands. Now we're in doubt that we'll be able to see any of the on-screen action behind our mitts, leaving us just as nervous about the game as when we started. So, we'll rely on your judgment: How's it looking to you?

I had a sammich in my head!
gir @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:51PM
You didn't have to yell at me.
I's just... I got rid of my sammich.
DrunkRabbit @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:19PM
Reminds me of the old Genesis Disney's Alladin game.....
Dante @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:19PM
looks like aladdin for super nintendo.
Dante @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:20PM
weird, we said that at the same time.
riggs @ Jul 23rd 2008 8:53PM
+1 for exactly thinking the same as you did when i saw it.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:23PM
Do you think you are the only one that played Aladdin for the SNES? (I played the PC version)
He looks like Aladdin until you zoom in the he looks like Toon link.
DangerMouse @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:47PM
And plays like calibrating a PDA.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:21PM
Aladdin, long time no see pal how are you?Oh Wait,is that who? HOW? ,Why?!
Who is traveling with Toon link this time, the little redhood?
(Is not Prince of Persia unless 90% of the game is made of cheap deaths and frustration the rest is awesomeness. Wait to go to screw POP Ubish*t.)
Levi @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:23PM
I feel your pain Justin. There is a good reason why my nickname at work is Meatpaws. However, if I'm able to play Ninja Gaiden DS, I think I should be able to play this.
TwEE @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:31PM
This looks pretty good.. Now whoever owns Oddworld should get to work making one for the ds
Mr.ESC @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:37PM
Eh no
Pc and Consoles then handhelds also Oddworld is better suited for Pc so STFU lol.
I'm a fan of the series but they should port Oddysey and Exodus.
RobLink (Alex Kidd incarnate) @ Jul 23rd 2008 6:34PM
Looks fun, but I don't see that it gains anything from the touch screen controls. It worked for Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, though, so we'll have to wait and see. Certainly looks good enough.
Bill Pullman @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:46PM
i agree. i can't count how many DS games have been released that needlessly utilise the stylus, when a simple button press would suffice. a handful of games have pulled it off somewhat successfully, while too many others failed.
yes, i know the DS includes a touch-screen and stylus -- that doesn't mean you have to use them! cars have reverse, but that doesn't mean we want to back-up everywhere we go.

I'd say the repositioning of bombs being thrown by the boss makes a decent arguement for this touch screen control. My only concern is if they combine traditional with with touch screen controls. Most of the failed attempts combined both...

what is the point of the top screen other than making the system awkward to hold?
Chris Are @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:04PM
I love the cinematic split screen stuff. That was fantastic in Metroid.
Jigsaw @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:27PM
I still don't quite understand how the game controls. A lot of the time there didn't seem to be any stylusing going on at all. Does the game use buttons AND stylus, or what?
Chris Are @ Jul 23rd 2008 10:12PM
/the stylus comes on the screen, performs a movement, then the same movement continues w/o the stylus. Then it'll show up again to demonstrate the prince doing something else- ie picking up the coins, then slashing the sword. At least, that's how I interpreted it.
Bill Pullman @ Jul 23rd 2008 7:50PM
also, it would seem jumping in this game causes violent and noisy hiccups for the prince. it's like Strider 2's perpetual screaming all over again.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 23rd 2008 8:23PM
Hate to say "I told you so" but "I told you so." I saw the character design and didn't instantly dismiss the title. Now that gameplay has been shown, it's on my DS watch list....
Farseer (GDI) @ Jul 23rd 2008 11:54PM
I bow respectfully to you sir. I was a loud naysayer from the moment I first saw that Ubi was doing a DS POP, but after watching this trailer, it looks like they're putting some effort into it. It's on my radar as well.
Kassu @ Jul 23rd 2008 9:12PM
I don't know what the fuck that was, but it sure wasnt PoP - I hardly saw any combat aside from some basic slashes, that can't be right.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 23rd 2008 9:22PM
You DO know they made Prince of Persia games before 2002, right? Just saying...
Also, current POP games hardly focus on the combat... wow, come to think of it... that was an all around fucktarded observation. Gratz!
Kassu @ Jul 24th 2008 6:02AM
Whut?
Yes, I've played the FIRST PoP's. They were boring, no fancy sparkly combat. Hence, this is boring too.
Blue_Falcon @ Jul 23rd 2008 11:37PM
I like everything but the Prince himself.
Jacksons @ Jul 24th 2008 1:01AM
Touchscreen, eh? I'm not a huge fan of that, but it looks solid.
Dustin @ Jul 28th 2008 2:45AM
erm.. coins??? wtf, mario, is that you?
