Kaz Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment's "Big Boss," tells MCV that the company is taking its sweet time to make Home. Hirai explains that if Home is good, it won't matter when it launches, "so long as it's in a reasonable time frame." By our estimates, "reasonable time frame" left a while ago on a trip around the world and, if we think in a circular fashion, should bang back around sometime soon.
Hirai goes on to say that if the competitors decide to follow what the company is doing with Home, it would be their prerogative -- we're sure Linden Labs is thinking the same thing about Home. Anyway, Hirai is "confident" that the Home open beat is something that'll "resonate" with consumers.

Christ all mighty.
Gmails been in beta for 5 years. So WHAT!? what does that have anything to do with anything? And it's been in full force functional beta for 3 or 4 now. You are making no point at all. Just stop.
And maybe, just maybe this guy knows a little more about how Sony does things than we do considering it sounds like he worked on independent applications for Sony. "While there, I was working on their Station Launcher application which was supposed to be released in late 2006. However, the Launcher app is still only in Beta to this day." IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE RELEASED IN 2006. What was google's release date for it's applications? Oh that's right...just stop.

The point is that because something is in beta for a while, it doesn't mean that they suck at software. Also, the Station Launcher is fully functional software.
"And maybe, just maybe this guy knows a little more about how Sony does things than we do considering it sounds like he worked on independent applications for Sony."
No, he said that he worked on one application two years ago that has nothing to do with the PS3 or it's software.
"What was google's release date for it's applications?"
As far as I know, they don't have one. They said that it will be in beta until it hits their requirements...which is basically what Sony is doing with Home.

I used to care about Home, I am actually in the Beta. But Sony's lack of progress with it has made me think "bleh."
It's supposed to be a social interaction tool by the way not just a meeting place, but kind of like a 3d blog space, you can set up a virtual living area that expresses who you are to your friends and people you meet.
But the length of time it s taking to progress I feel like they have about six people working on it.

How do you edit on this thing? The last sentence is supposed to say:
But the length of time it is taking to progress it, feels like they have about six people working on it.

I'm sick of reading about Home, especially when there isn't really anything to read about. I think the best thing Sony can do is get the open beta out there and get PS3 users to start dictating what they want from it, what works and what is useless. I know people link PS3 and Sony with cynical, but they do listen to requests and what its users generally want.

Wait you mean a promise made by Sony is taking much longer than intially implied to come to frution and it is looking less and less promising.....Holy Sony Batman!

HOME is this generation's NINTENDO 64DD.
Delayed to the point it will be irrelevant and receive no support.

That, or it's just a very very poorly thought out idea.
I don't think how annoying it's going to be. Imagine Xbox Live annoying X 1000, because even BEFORE playing a game, they're bugging the crap out of you.

Yeah seriously, from the looks of it, it doesn't look like Home serves much of a PURPOSE except for just walking around and finding friends and dancing in wierd ways. Their revamp works with the whole new game room structuring, but they need to do more.
I think they just need a new direction with Home. It's definitely interesting to check out, but nothing to make you wanna run and fool around in there for long term.

It would be a spit in the eye to all the games you're suppose to want to buy and play if Home was more fun than playing a PS3 game...right?

Those having a difficult validating the concept of home in their own heads lack imagination. It's like they're saying, "why does this restaurant have a menu? I came here to eat!"

Horrible analogy. Horrible. It makes no sense at all. But you know already...i hope.
It's more like having 2 waiters.
PS3: Hi, welcome to our restaurant. What do you want to order?
Me: Hi PS3, I want to play Resistance with my friends.
PS3: Ok, go Home first.
Me: No, I just want to play Resistance with my friends.
PS3: Ok, here's Home.
Home: Hi, welcome to our restaurant.
Me: Jesus...Home, take me to Resistance with my friends.
Home: Sure thing. Coming right up.

Jfk Aok, I see why you couldn't mentally digest my analogy. You frequent a restaurant where the waitstaff tells you to go to the restaurant. You must have a knitted sign on a wall in your home that reads "home sweet go home".

It could be a hit, it could be a miss. But I'm reserving judgement until I get to try it myself.

So basically this is a foreshadowing to them delaying Home again Or should I say delaying the open beta.
