Imagine if Marvel's super heroes were to form a sort of ... alliance. An ultimate one, at that. Then, they somehow gained the ability to fuse their powers together. You'd have yourself a Marvel Ultimate Alliance of Fusion, or "MUAF," but we don't think we like how that acronym crawls off the tongue. Tweak it a bit and you have Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion, Activision's next action-RPG team up set in the Marvel Comics universe, where players will, in fact, be able to combine the powers of various heroes to make more powerful powers.
The game was announced at Activision's E3 non-E3 event, where only a brief teaser was shown. This slightly longer snippet was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con 2008, which got underway today in Southern California. It indeed shows off various Marvel characters fusing their powers, but looks far from actual gameplay. It's still pretty slick to see Wolverine and The Hulk team up for a variation of the Fastball Special, though.
I was skeptical until I saw a "Fastball Special". I just hope that I can get my Human Torch to powerlevel 1,000! I enjoyed the last one but the camera work needed a ton of help.
Thor didnt die, not really, he was reborn with the rest of the Asgardian Gods when Ragnarok occurred. They were all reborn except Odin, because Odin died before Ragnarok. Now Thor is back with all the guys and he rebuilt Asgard in Kansas. Oh and in the most recent Secret Invasion he appeared on the last page and killed some skrulls
Where are the bad guys? Seems like their just showing off their powers for no reason whatsoever and crushing a lot of useless rocks. It does look nice though. I'm going to keep an eye on that one.
Seriously? Lack of reading ftl. It clearly said on the screen, "Latveria -- source of attack". Then the sirens went off and it showed explosions on the map where all the cities are located. So, using context clues, basic reading, and a 2nd grade intellect, I figured out that LATVERIA was the SOURCE OF THE ATTACK. And all the EXPLOSIONS signified an ATTACK all over the world. Whew, that was tough to figure out. Thank god I have velcro shoes, I don't think I have the cognitive capacity to tie them after that brain-bender.
Yeah, the "fusing" is not impressive. Granted, I'm not a superhero, but I can't imagine much of a difference between throwing a huge chunk of pavement into the ground and throwing a huge chunk of HOT pavement into the ground. Maybe you give the bad guys a tan?
Wikipedia suggests this too, after reading the characters involved all but one (Blackwidow and Captain America are not shown. I'm sure there is a few others.
I too am a little miffed with the Hulk version of the fastball special. And i really hope they cram in the number of heroes and villains into this version. Like the inclusion of X-Factor characters (Cable, Maverick, Domino, Shatterstar), Projectile characters like Gambit, Longshot, Bishop....I'am sure others here have wish list of characters to include. I just hope its not a Big Slugger list of the top 10.
i've yet to read game informer's article about the game yet, so while i think that will shine more light on it, i'm pretty certain and therefore bummed that MUA2 most likely is NOT based off of Civil War.
the big reveal is fusing powers? i'm sorry is this 1997? are we supposed to get hyped about adding powers? like that's all you got? could still be good though...

Okay but can I play as Deadpool,Omega Red,Apocalypse or and Onslaught?
Anticrawl @ Jul 24th 2008 9:06PM
So long as I can play as Deadpool and Ironman I don't care who else is in the game.
Deadpool @ Jul 25th 2008 1:37AM
Yeah! I better be able to play with myself!
...o_o
You know what I mean!
syrik zero @ Jul 24th 2008 7:56PM
Looks much better than the last one. Hopefully is more fun also. The last got repetitive really quickly to me.
Aaron @ Jul 24th 2008 8:15PM
My wife and I will be spending many-a-hours playing this one.
Gary Mckendry @ Jul 24th 2008 8:15PM
Is it just me or did the Human Torch look a bit ... undead?

i dont understand why Hulk was doing the Fastball special instead of Colossus
LaughingTarget @ Jul 24th 2008 8:16PM
OK, who was the guy with that only wore a t-shirt, jeans and swung the chain?
Flakundenga @ Jul 24th 2008 8:34PM
That was Luke Cage.
Graphics don't look too great, but the last game didn't have any either and it didn't prevent it from becoming one of my fav games.
theturtle363 @ Jul 24th 2008 8:47PM
that was Luke Cage, he has super strength and impenetrable skin, well, impenetrable except for adamantium
Prime @ Jul 24th 2008 8:49PM
"OK, who was the guy with that only wore a t-shirt, jeans and swung the chain?"
Luke Cage: "Power Man", "Hero For Hire" etc etc
Mr.ESC @ Jul 24th 2008 8:59PM
I liked him more with the afro and the metal headband than bold.
Black Goliath is the one that gets pwned by Thor Clon in Civil War but how did Thor died again?

Oh God, don't ever use a number and the word "powerlevel" together ever again.
carg0 @ Jul 24th 2008 8:56PM
that was almost as equally pathetic as the first trailer. is it their intention to disinterest me because they're doing a great job...
BLuezy @ Jul 24th 2008 9:00PM

Looking at it again, there are a few useless soldiers to kick :)
Ken Seang @ Jul 24th 2008 9:00PM
I don't know why they made a big deal about fusing, when mainly it is just about teaming up and taking down the bad guys like in the first game...
farside @ Jul 24th 2008 9:28PM
if this is based on the civil war comics (as rumored) wouldn't the bad guys they are taking down, themselves be heroes?
DaddyTunes @ Jul 24th 2008 10:25PM
it will be heroes against heroes!!! we need a better preview... this fusion was not what i expected.
i want to play this online already!!!!!
what was the deal with the sirens and all diff. countries!?!? that made no sense

I got a chance to go to the Activision event and one of the speakers confirmed that the game starts with Secret War.

I want some Iron Fist and/or Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.
Otherwise there will be some major problems.
Castigador @ Jul 25th 2008 3:20AM
And here I thought it would be like the Silver Surfer movie ending.
There goes my Hulk Torch.
Brodie-san @ Jul 25th 2008 5:47AM
Looks like they stuck "Latveria" where northern Romania actually is. Those Romanians are gonna be pisssssed.
:)
Snowblind @ Jul 25th 2008 6:41AM
I was really worried about this whole fusion thing, they made it sound like you'd actually be COMBINING heroes, to make guys like "Spider-Hulk".
Very relieved to see that's not the case.
