Set for release on October 28 (hey, that's right around when the game's hitting ... coincidence?) the film follows the events that occurred on the mining ship Ishimura (the game's setting, in case you're just joining us) and the planet it's lifelessly orbiting (and why it's orbiting said planet lifelessly) before the outset of the game. Think of it kind of like Enter the Matrix in reverse. On second thought, don't think about Enter the Matrix.

It's a strong trailer but it's identical to the Alien Res teaser http://www.amuseriot.com

Dead space 5 just came out unless you mean the interactive/animated one.

I would get this movie even if I wasn't really excited for the game! I'm a fan of survivor horror games and FPSs.

Why doesn't the ps3 version of the game just include the movie in the same blu ray as the game? That would make good use of the extra space.

For a feature-film (albeit a direct-to-DVD one), it certainly doesn't have the usual budget. Most of the 3DCG shots have a weirdly low framerate (especially noticeable whenever they overlay 2d layers), and any characters except in the close-ups are practically unshaded.
"On second thought, don't think about Enter the Matrix."
Why not? It was certainly better than the sequels, and actually filled in the glaring thermodynamic plothole of 'humans are not a power source'.

You could have avoided the debate over Enter the Matrix and said that the movie looks like Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury, but hey what do I know? Anyway I would rather the last few interactive animated Dead Space comics came out on PSN already. I love Ben Templesmith's art. Especially in the 30 Days of Night series of comics.

Some of the animation made me think of "Boondocks"... anyone else feel that?

I was thinking of something like Jetix or Toon Disney, but now that you remind me, it does look a lot like the Boondocks.

I almost forgot how badass 2D animation can be.

Anyone remember Men In Black: The Animated Series?
How about Godzilla: The Animated Series?
Yeah, this looks exactly like those two.

Huh. It's out on my birthday. Just before Halloween, perfect timing, and a nice thing to spend my Birthday monies on.
I love Scifi horror on a spaceship! It's a genre they don't do enough any more, unless it involves Aliens! Screw aliens! I want ghosts! More Demons! Horrible mutated people! Possible Dreamscapes!
I wonder though...are any of these people from the Comic or the movie the main character in the game?

I for one think EA is going a little overboard with this one. I'd be a lot more interested if it wasn't cel animated.
Hell, anything's better than that washed out, choppy, anime-wannabe style.

wow. . .the first thing I thought, personally, was camp. A little heavy on melodramatic like . . .a commercial wanting to be a story.

Meh, I really hate that style, and its one I've seen a million times. its like... I dunno... western anime? either way. CG would be way better, or a gritier more detailed style.
