Rumor: Guitar Hero World Tour full set list
[UPDATE: Click here for the real full list, straight from the folks at Activision. While you're at it, you may want to examine our Instrument Compatibility Matrix and see which of your plastic instruments will work with which game. Yes, this is seriously a major concern for our kind.]
The supposed full set list for Guitar Hero World Tour has been making its way around the forums (Something Awful, GameFAQs). The 87-song list is divided by 73 main tracks and 14 bonus tracks. Additionally, there are 3 guitar battles (Ted Nugent, Zakk Wylde ... and renowned bassist Sting) and 7 "sample songs," presumably for the song creation mode. We're still looking into the source of the list; with no official word from Activision or Neversoft, consider this a rumor. Full set list after the break.

Lame.
Jakka (Not sure why he got banned?) @ Jul 24th 2008 9:17AM
How exactly is it lame?
tc @ Jul 24th 2008 9:18AM
all those lame songs make it lame
Hafk @ Jul 24th 2008 9:20AM
Lame.
Jakka (Not sure why he got banned?) @ Jul 24th 2008 9:26AM
Are we looking at a same setlist? Because I see a whole lot of win on it.
Hafk @ Jul 24th 2008 9:28AM
Lame as in, this comment is Lame.
Should have mentioned that.
baby sea tuna @ Jul 24th 2008 9:48AM
I see about 20-30% win and the rest is garbage...or available on Rock Band as well.
I may still pick up the disc for a handful of songs (No Sleep Til Brooklyn, One Armed Scissor,) if it's compatable with the instruments I already own.
Averna @ Jul 24th 2008 10:08AM
Yeah if the RB2 gear is compatable with it Ill pick up the disc.
Vol @ Jul 24th 2008 10:11AM
Tool! This isn't lame at all. Stinkfest will be great.
Chilly P @ Jul 24th 2008 10:25AM
Lame!?!1? Dude, Fury of the Storm, MASTER OF F***ING PUPPETS, Light My Fire, 96 Quite Bitter Beings, Stranglehold, Paradise City! I hope to god this list is real. Plus, GH3 just plays so much better than Rock Band (or GH2 for that matter), so that alone will probably make this the best rhythm game ever. I'm so f-ing stoked.
p.s. Seriously, Rock Band plays like crap. It's impossible to do long runs on Rock Band b/c it's difficult to read the pace on the difficult to see bars.
baby sea tuna @ Jul 24th 2008 10:38AM
I respectfully disagree, Chilly P.
kaneda @ Jul 24th 2008 10:35AM
15% Win
30% Lame
28% OMG!
22% WTF?
15% BBQ.
Taylorman222 @ Jul 24th 2008 10:40AM
Setlist is OK, but the set up sucks, if thats all the venues and combinations of songs available. Comparing it to Rockbands World Tour, where there were mystery set lists and cities and marathon set lists this just dont seem as... fun. Anybody else agree? Please let this setup not be the only thing to do.
Chilly P @ Jul 24th 2008 10:56AM
I was a huge Rock Band fan, baby sea tuna, and I played the crap out of that game, talking about how much better it was that GH3 (for which I had played only the demo). Then I came home for the summer and played my bro's GH3, and I promise you, it plays so much more smoothly. The same way Halo: Combat Evolved nailed the 'feel' of an FPS in an indescribable way, GH3 just somehow gets it right. Just play Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Cult of Personality, La Grange, and Impulse (on Expert, of course) and then play Green Grass and High Tides on Rock Band and just notice how much more natural GH3 feels.
MB @ Jul 24th 2008 11:18AM
Chilly P, you're actually referring to how the hammer on and pull off system is "easier" in GH3 than it is in Rock Band. GH3 allows you to hammer on before a note hits the strum bar, RB does not. This "natural" feeling you're feeling is in fact your inability to play RB well.
deaftly @ Jul 24th 2008 11:37AM
This is the best fucking song list I could imagine.
GOD DAMMIT GUITAR HERO WHY MUST YOU MAKE ME BUY YOU EVERY TIME!
Chilly P @ Jul 24th 2008 11:55AM
MB, I think that's probably true. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'before it hits the strum bar' b/c you don't strum on hammer ons/pull offs (I hope I didn't say something stupid there), but I do think the game is more forgiving in that aspect.
But I think there's more to it than that. I think the speed of the notes or maybe the angle at which they fly in feel more natural as well. There are times, however, when I do feel like I should have missed something and I didn't or I think I may have fingered in an extra note. But either way, saying "whoa, I can't believe I just hit that" every once in a while is preferable to saying "WTF!? I'm not missing these notes! What do they want from me!?" every other song. It *may* require less skill, but no one's going to claim that GH3 is easier than Rock Band, and it's not like we're talking Mario Kart vs. Gran Turismo here.
Andy O. @ Jul 24th 2008 1:03PM
10% lame
90% BBQ... Mmmmm BBQ.
Danny @ Jul 24th 2008 12:34PM
# "Dammit" by Blink 182
I WANT TO BELIEVE
But there are way too many typos and bands "aimed at a young audience" for this to even be considered real. And 2 songs + encore per set? I don't think so, Tim.
Thief @ Jul 24th 2008 12:50PM
In my full honest opinion... this setlist made me pee a little (in a good way). I don't really know how its' "lame" when it shows Ozzy, Dio, Hendrix, Skynard.. and so on.
I think Rock Band's taste of music tends more to the more generalist music audience, which is totally fine (not bashing their set list at all), while Guitar Hero is focusing on bands that shaped what Rock and Punk are these days.
PS - I really really hope this is real for also the Rammstein and At the Drive In songs. Fucking incredible!
GreyFox @ Jul 24th 2008 1:07PM
Just because 5% of the songs are ones you like doesn't mean this set list isn't lame.
Lame.
robert @ Jul 24th 2008 3:25PM
holy shit they got face down by red jumpsuit. I know that barely any of u know who that is but i love them. Tool is really cool also.
MasterCKO @ Jul 24th 2008 3:03PM
actually, I see a lot of songs that I would love to play...hrm. Assuming Activision makes good on their "will work with RB gear" promise, I think that I'll pick this up.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 24th 2008 3:24PM
Not a whole lot of great stuff there....
Josh @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:37PM
eh, not quite lame, but the Rock Band 2 setlist is much more epic.
Wmadd @ Sep 4th 2008 10:06PM
The new GH is gonna be sick cuz u can record ur own music on the drums and shit like that. its gonna be tight. trying to do hammer ons rock band is impossible and my drum set broke down fast. my pedal snapped in half and when i hit the drums it didnt always count it. i hope GH is the real deal
Chait @ Sep 10th 2008 12:38AM
your all to young to under stand go play rock band
Mike @ Sep 12th 2008 10:32AM
That setlist has a little of everything. And also has way more than any other guitar hero game before. So what exactly are you looking for? Or are you just one of those idiots who is never satisfied? I personally think this is a great setlist. Master of Puppets, Purple Haze, Strnglehold, 96 quite bitter things. I will be buying this as soon as it releases
No one @ Sep 12th 2008 9:42PM
I'm into about 30 of the songs and don't even know if this is real.
I dont know why they refuse to put in any Motorhead, Led Zepplin, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd... Pantera, Down...
Why isin't there Ticks and Leeches by Tool? or what about Scar Symmetry? DIO? ... i don't understand.
Sometimes they get good bands but choose songs that just arent good, also for the cherry ontop WHERE THE FUCK IS ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL??? i could go on and on and on about bands/songs that should be on this list. Take out Linkin Park, wtf is Lenny doin' on here? MCR? BLINK 182??? bring your heads out of your asses.
I'd wish for once that someone will come out with a Rythym game that actualy has 100% of Rock! and Metal.
It also may be to much but they proved me wrong with In Flames on GH3, put some damn Emperor on there.
Also what about Blind Guardian? i hope this is fake cause' most of them suck so much donkey ass. Though Purple Haze made my day :)
jordan @ Sep 13th 2008 12:37PM
how are all these badass songs lame. they got metallica iron maiden guns n roses ted nugent lynard skynard van halen disturbed ozzy black sabbath dio.
how excatly are all those great artists lame?!?!?!?!?!
WSO420 @ Sep 21st 2008 1:15AM
Ok, the ho/po's in GHIII were a joke!! The bubbles for notes are extremely dated when compared to the stream-lined look in RB. Good luck in GH:WT drummers!!! I don't see how drums could even be playable with that interface. Trust me when I say that they fixed the guitar difficulty in RB2... I had to go back to hard for a while once I unlocked the harder ones. I WILL BUY GH:WT for the songs that are exclusive to it, but I think it is a huge mistake having 25% of the set list consist of songs from RB, RB2 and RB DLC... that will steer the RB faithful far from this title as they will simply wait for the other titles to be released on DLC... which may be what Harmonix has up their sleeves with the 20 free songs to be released "at a later date"... can you say, waiting for the window to close on exclusive contracts... I sure hope so with titles like Puppets, Tool, Hendrix and Floyd being exclusive to GH:WT(for now???). On second thought, I may not even waste my money on it... I see myself playing RB2 with all of my DLC and porting over RB1's tracks (totaling nearly 300 songs on my current playlist). By the time that GH:WT has 300 songs RB may have 1000!! So I see myself playing RB 90% of the time and GH:WT 10% of the time... that is until the songs that are exclusive to GH:WT become RB DLC. One final note to the GH faithful... hope they support you with better DLC than did in the last couple games... cause GHIII DLC pales in comparison to RB's.
dragons1274 @ Oct 16th 2008 11:52AM
there definately needs to be more disturbed in here. there new album is filled with awesome solos.
Gunner McGrath @ Jul 24th 2008 8:51AM
Soul Doubt! FINALLY a great punk song, I can now forgive them for adding Bat Country and Dragula.
FordGTGuy @ Jul 24th 2008 9:41AM
Forgive them for adding Bat Country and Dragula? Are you kidding me?
Whats next your going to scold them for adding Master of Puppets and Sweet Home Alabama.
Gunner McGrath @ Jul 24th 2008 11:18AM
The fact that you think Bat Country and Dragula are good songs makes me shocked that you've ever even heard a song like Master of Puppets.
Shagittarius @ Jul 24th 2008 11:31AM
I like Dragula, but I agree that Avenged 7 fold sucks epeen in hell.
Prof_Chaos @ Jul 24th 2008 11:36AM
Agreed. Soul Doubt is awesome, but I'd still like to see the Dropkick Murphys, Bouncing Souls, or Pennywise to show up in some form.
Also agree that Dragula blows.
FordGTGuy @ Jul 24th 2008 4:00PM
Gunner now that is just hilarious seeing as i'm a huge Metallica fan and I even like St. Anger. I'm 20 years old and I got into Rob/White Zombie when younger and I think Avenged Sevenfold has a few good songs.
jsn @ Jul 24th 2008 8:52AM
fairly weak IMO, but I'm 99% sure most of it is fake anyway.
copa @ Jul 24th 2008 10:29AM
I am a Harmonix fanboy, but come on. That setlist is very, very good. I hope it's correct, particularly becuase it would open the door for a lot of this music making its way into Rock Band.
But I think it's fake. People went to more work than this to mock up some of the fake RB2 lists, and here are the things that make me suspicious:
1. The list is almost entirely big, big, name acts, which would be expensive and unprecedented. The only 'creative' choices in here overlap with the Rock Band 2 setlist. It smells like someone going through their favorite tracks on iTunes and making up a setlist.
2. The RHCP song is mistitled "Take It Away."
3. The setlist describes a 'Guitar Battle' with Sting, a bassist.
4. I can see David Gilmour coming around on licensing his music to plastic instrument games, but not Roger Waters. It just ain't gonna happen. "Dogs of War" or even "Sorrow" would have been convincing, but I'm not buying "Comfortably Numb."
5. Hallowed Be Thy Name does not have useable masters.
6. Johnny B. Goode does not have useable masters.
7. 'Here me Roar' is an obvious misspelling.
Shadow El @ Jul 24th 2008 11:10AM
"Johnny B. Goode does not have useable masters."
Aw, I was really hoping for that one, too...
tooPrime @ Jul 24th 2008 11:43AM
I think fact that some people are poo-pooing this set list (fake or not) shows how insane and incredibly bias some Rock Band fans are. I think it has a good chance of being real because there is enough random/mediocre songs were it isn’t some wish list with Led Zeppelin or Queen. That said I think it is really off the charts if true. Rock Bands setlist is much more scattered. Seriously, I picked out 20 songs that are better than the majority of the Rock Band 2 setlist (or 1 setlist for that matter) unless you’re way into 80s pop.

"On December 2, 2007, it was announced that Activision would merge with Vivendi Games. Merger was effective on July 9, 2008 with newly formed company Activision Blizzard, owned by Vivendi."
Formerly known as Vivendi Universal. Most likely not as hard to get a list of "big, big, name acts, which would be expensive and unprecedented."
It's probably fake. I think some of the song selection sounds way too fanboy-ish, especially an entire set of Tool, but who knows?
Kamizar @ Jul 24th 2008 8:52AM
I know its a rumor, BUT DEAR LORD TOO MUCH TOOL!
muddyhelmit @ Jul 24th 2008 10:06AM
I don't think 3 songs is too much tool. I do wish they would have picked a different STP song. If I want to play Vasoline, I'll pop in Rock Band.
Demaar @ Jul 24th 2008 11:02AM
I disagree. But yer... if this wasn't compatible with RB instruments I'd pass. But there's 7 songs on there I'd like to play, so it'll be worth it for just the disc.
Jhongerkong @ Jul 24th 2008 11:14AM
WHAT YOU SAY !!
Frank @ Jul 24th 2008 12:34PM
There's no god damn such thing as too much TOOL...
Let's just make that abundantly clear.
Danny Carey's drumming needs to be brought to the video game masses, and while I'm a RockBand fan boy, I think this rumored set list is amazing enough to make me buy the game.
I just wish there was EVEN MORE TOOL.
booticon @ Jul 24th 2008 4:36PM
...too much Tool?
DOES NOT COMPUTE
aristokrat @ Jul 24th 2008 4:53PM
Yeah, as much as I despise the concept of GH:Aerosmith, I would definitely buy GH:Tool, so 3 songs is not too many. I hope the pieces fit...
