WipEout HD getting Trophies, coming 'very soon'

Sony's European arm has issued an official statement regarding WipEout HD's chronic PSN tardiness, and while the company failed to comment specifically concerning racer's reported tendency to leave players with the shakes, SCEE did reveal that the game is being updated to include a number of tweaks under the hood.

According to Sony, WipEout HD's continued delay is the result of "many improvements" and "numerous" additional features, including support for 2-player offline split screen and Trophies, as well as 8 reverse tracks, 4 extra ships, and a pair of alternative HUDS. As for when we'll be able to enjoy any of this from the comfort of our living rooms, Sony was less specific, saying only that it hopes to release the game "very soon."

Mods, can you take down the above link? It brings you to a hugely obnoxious flashing website that possibly could cause a seizure (I don't actually know exactly, but it seems possible).

Sorry guys...don't know if that would actually cause one...it's funny if you're sure you aren't epileptic, but I didn't think about the widespread ramifications when I posted it. Good catch, Nate.

Coming so soon Sony didn't even bother showing it at all at E3. Hmmmm... very weird.

They didn't want to start a mass gaming journalist fit session. Might harm the reviews :P

Really wished the games I have had trophies in the games I actually have.

Well so far two games I'm getting have been confirmed to have them so I'll just wait till then until I begin trophy whoring.

This is one of the games that make me want a PS3. I love the PSP version.

Anyway, I haven't finished PULSE yet, but I *eagerly* await the release of this title.

Don't get me wrong. The second I think the PS3 is worth getting, I will. At the moment though, I looks like the money is going into a PC upgrade. For a "dying" platform, there's a shit load of games coming out for PC.

normally any further talk of the delay would only continue my crying myself to sleep, but this post seems optimistic enough to calm my senses a bit. don't let me down, sony liverpool...

Those "many improvements" and "numerous" additional features sound like they should have already been there in the first place.

It's a racing game with awesome graphics at 1080p 60FPS, 5 race modes, 8 player online, 8 tracks and 8 different racing teams..... that's a hell of a lot for a downloadable title. Trophies were only just introduced by Sony, so it's not surprising that they might have had to come later. I think it looks like a hell of a great game and trumpeting some additional features is worthwhile.

This post has made me a happy.

And Sony had enough to show at E3, they didn't need to find a place to squeeze this in.

Besides, sending all the reporters into seizures wouldn't have gone down well on Sony's part :S

Then again, they could have just claimed it to be the awesomeness.

I heard that one of the game's testers was Michael J. Fox, which is where the whole 'epilepsy' scare came from.

They're using "epilepsy testing" as the excuse for the continuing work on the alternate HUDs.

Well i'm dissapointed that Wipeout still isn't out, this is one of my most wanted PS3 titles! When it finally does arrive on PSN i suppose it'll probably appear on the American market 1st (even though it's a British game) just to really piss me off!

It's nice to see that not everyone has gone online only multiplay.

I swear, most game companies seem to think I should own 2 tvs and 2 consoles and 2 games just to play a game with/against my wife. (And in the case of XBLA, 2 live accounts)

Nice. That's good news for me and my wife too.
