Bungie working on 'three distinct projects'

Bungie is busy getting ready for next month's Penny Arcade Expo, but it isn't going to be revealing any new games at the event. Especially that one Microsoft doesn't want it talking about. This shouldn't be taken to mean that the company has nothing going on. Au contraire. According to its latest news update, the dev has not one but three new games in the works.
"Rest assured that when the time is right, we will be making announcements and talking about the stuff we're currently working on," the post reads, continuing, "At the moment we do have three distinct projects underway within Bungie - some familiar, some not. Some on a closer horizon, some quite far off."
Let's see – one of the games is a new Halo project, but the other two? We'll let you get creative in the comments section. Bonus points if the idea doesn't include pirates, pimps, or flaming ninjas.

A game with RTS-style controls where the Micro Machine Man narrates everything that you make happen on the screen.
Your goal is to make so much stuff happen at once that even the blazing-fast-talking Micro Machine Man can't keep up, and his brain explodes or he faints.
Various obstacles and tools in each level makes it a unique and new challenge every time.
Print it!

Sweet.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 26th 2008 4:19PM
Dear God, Micro Machines were AWESOME. I never knew what made me like them more, my tomboyish glee at playing with toy cars and battleships or my girlish glee at playing with miniatures.
matt247 @ Jul 25th 2008 9:36PM
I thought they had 2 Halo games and that janitor game
FranK @ Jul 25th 2008 9:38PM
Oni 2. Please Bungie.
Bryan @ Jul 25th 2008 10:05PM
I think Activision has the IP for Oni.
It's obvious they are finally doing P@S (Pimps at Sea).
FranK @ Jul 25th 2008 11:18PM
Nah, it was developed by Bungie West, a division of Bungie Studios in 2001.
Xoviet chiK @ Jul 25th 2008 11:43PM
I'm pretty sure the IP is owned by Take 2. Part of the deal when Bungie became a wholly owned subsidiary of Microsoft was that Take 2 would keep the Myth and Oni IPs.
XeroHedgehog @ Jul 27th 2008 12:45PM
Maybe Bungie -is- working on a new Oni game...and its being published by 2k Games (Take 2)? ;)
Lone Starr @ Jul 25th 2008 9:46PM
One of their next Halo games (not Halo Wars of course) will be a prequel. Read the last paragraph of last week's update -- they've used this language before and it pointed to another as of then yet unnanounced feature in Halo 3.
YUO HERD IT HERE FIRST!

A game about the difficulties guys face when trying to date in the halo universe. You play as a spartan trying to find the girl of his dreams, interspecies dating is allowed (there are some sexy grunts out there) and you learn that no matter how kickass master chief is, it's hard to pee in that suit :( You also play as an elite trying to attract a mate which is very tricky and you finally get to see a female elite, also there will be no use of energy swords or those sticky plasma balls during the sex sequences
Dwag @ Jul 25th 2008 9:57PM
An expansion of Halo 3[more customization, more maps, more forge options, more weapons(duel wield enery swords and they are in a sci-fi world anything can be used and be deadly),more vechiles]
New Halo game(hopefully not Halo 4 but more like a multiplayer specific Halo game)
New IP(hopefully an innovative TPS and not an FPS)
New IP thats an XBLA game(janitor that cleans up bodies)
Old IPs reborn for the PC(Marathon)
Bungie has a lot of options that can make them millions
end of rant
ice~ @ Jul 25th 2008 10:43PM
I like my Halove idea better :)

Turtle Skating. It's a sports game where you use an oiled turtle shell to race downhill.
[.sm0ke.] @ Jul 25th 2008 10:03PM
New IP and Oni 2.
OMGOMG @ Jul 25th 2008 10:16PM
Halo 4, Halo 5, and Halo 6.
I know everyone else is thinking this.
Sora @ Jul 25th 2008 10:31PM
That wouldn't explain the Superintendent...
Mr.ESC @ Jul 25th 2008 11:09PM
"Hi, Super Nintendo Chalmers"
I just had to do that.
Superintendent could be a zombie game,I mean the logo reminds me of the Hell's Janitor medal.
OMGOMG @ Jul 25th 2008 11:37PM
"What's a Battle?"
DangerMouse @ Jul 25th 2008 11:49PM
A miserable little pile of secrets.

The superintendent is from Marathon.
Kevin @ Jul 25th 2008 10:26PM
I'd be really surprised if they were working on anything in the Halo line. It's too soon for that, considering everything they poured into Halo 3 not too long ago. That game is still selling well, and the multiplayer is still thriving. There's no need for sequel at this point. Maybe an expansion, but I doubt that.
I'm more interested in their new IP's. It would be interesting to see what they can do outside the futuristic sci-fi setting.
Misfit Toy @ Jul 25th 2008 10:41PM
Actually, I would have to disagree. Only because of the fact that it takes years to make a game. By the time they're done with it people will want another "new" Halo.
KHCloud @ Jul 25th 2008 10:32PM
My guess is a new halo game. Another guess is a Medieval Fantasy IP. And Pimps at Sea.
bluestriker @ Jul 25th 2008 10:47PM
Hasn't Bungie pretty much always been in the sci-fi setting though? It would be weird to imagine a new IP from them that isn't. They left it open for another sequel though, and a prequel to Halo 1 isn't out of the question either. Fall of Reach, anyone?
Xoviet chiK @ Jul 25th 2008 11:19PM
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest II, Limbo of the Lost 360, The Journeyman Project 4.
Antler @ Jul 26th 2008 1:11AM
Wow, Journeyman Project 4. I suppose if anyone could bring back the pre-rendered point-and-click time-travel adventure genre, it would be Bungie.
Serafh @ Jul 25th 2008 11:21PM
They said projects, not games. Could be a new map pack for Halo 3, and of course the Peter Jackson project. Doesn't necessarily mean the other 2 are complete games.
darkangelism @ Jul 25th 2008 11:40PM
the whole superintendent thing, semed like some sorta utopia environment gone wrong, possibly a monitor, maybe a forerunner halo game or some sorta prison break game.
SoulBlade @ Jul 25th 2008 11:42PM
They're probably making a platformer a la Mario to show Miyamoto what's up

Well duh, I know what the other two titles are:
Halo Kart
&
Super Smash Spartans - (I hear Baird from Gears of War is an unlockable character)
Dwag @ Jul 26th 2008 2:37AM
Are long as they innovate with there new titles I'll be good.
Vcize @ Jul 26th 2008 3:05AM
Lego Halo!!
Dwag @ Jul 26th 2008 3:25AM
I wish for another FPS with a time control gimmick. I'm gonna rant cause I'm sleepy now.
A Multiplayer online Halo with:
1.32 player onine
2.Squads
3.Clan support and features
4.Dedicated servers
5.TPS and FPS options
6.New weapons and vechiles introduced into the Haloverse but Halo wars seems to be doing that.
New IP what I'm hoping for is:
Timeshift with a deeper a story and cool multiplayer online or something that innovates.
New IP: Something that deals with the janitor.
Also you know Bungie could have taken full control of the Halo:Chronicles project.
MN Guy @ Jul 26th 2008 2:35PM
My two cents:
1) A new Halo shooter. Bungie is on their own and they need a sure-fire money making title. It might not be Halo 4, though. It could be a prequel or Marathon game. Maybe they'll chance it and go TPS and be much different than Halo games, but it still has to be a shooter with multiplayer focus. Something their fanbase can get into for sure.
2) Something easy like an XBLA title. I don't see Bungie working 3 full fledged titles at once. Like a side project.
3) Something in very preliminary stages that won't be a traditional shooter. Bungie left partially because they want to do more than just Halo games. Maybe they'll make this a Marathon game or something, but the gameplay I think will be completely non-halo, likely not even a shooter. Action/RPG maybe.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 26th 2008 4:24PM
If they just involve Halo projects, color me bored. If they involve pimps or steampunk or fuzzy things, color me excited.

-1. Halo squad-based game
-2. Peter Jackson's project
-3. Their rumored Live Arcade game based on a "hero with a plunger"
