Never mind that we totally caught Yoda and Vader face to face in a Soul Calibur IV trailer months ago, Namco Bandai's official line has remained: Yoda is in the Xbox 360 version, Darth Vader in the PlayStation 3 one. While some of us assumed both characters could be unlocked in either version (except Ludwig, he pre-ordered both editions just to be safe), Namco Bandai has apparently come up with a better idea. Why not sell Darth Vader as DLC to Xbox 360 owners? (And presumably, why not pimp out Yoda to PS3 players?)
GamersReports has allegedly obtained another "quality exclusive" in three screenshots that depict Vader as a selectable character in the Xbox 360 version of Soul Calibur IV. To be fair, the report only suggests that Vader would be offered as an "add-on download" and does not specify whether or not that would be paid content or a fan service freebie. The site adds, "No word on when, or even if ever it will be released." Oh the suspense!
[Thanks, alvin]

Oh right, Wii's not getting this game. Well, 'll be getting the PS3 one, and never downloading Yoda. i don't want to unbalance more my game with a midget jumping around all the time

No Soul Caliber on Wii? That's weird, considering that Nintendo kept the series on life support during the first two games of the series.

I think you're a bit confused...
SoulEdge/SoulBlade (PS1)
SoulCalibur (Dreamcast)
SoulCalibur II (GCN/PS2/Xbox)
SoulCalibur III (PS2)
SoulCalibur IV (360/PS3)
The Soul series has only been on a Nintendo platform once (excluding the awful spin-off), and it was the third in the series, too...

Still don't know which version to get...
They should know better and put both characters on both versions.
To a Star Wars fan, having to pick Yoda or Vader is the same as having to pick between your right ball and your left ball!
Please Bamco, let me at least BUY my second ball!

This has been painfully obvious since the begining, even while Namco claim they will remain exclusive. The only people who refused to see this, were the PS3 fanboys who didn't want to share Vader (Although Yoda is the far better character anyway, game wise)
Namco were never going to miss the oppertunity to sell these guys off to the opposite platform, and the fact there is one character slot in the game left open, right between the other two characters is highly suspicious.
Even the official guide makes no mention of who that character is, and people who've had it for weeks cannot unlock anyone for it. It's very clearly a reserved slot, for another Star Wars character.

The only DLC I would buy for this would be if they licensed Yogurt and he got to use the Schwartz.

Just be under $3 bucks and most people won't be too annoyed...

From what I hear, you should be able to unlock either or on whatever console. 360: Beat Arcade as Yoda, Unlock Vader, and vice versa for the PS3. So not only do 360 owners get the Lord Vader lovin', PS3 owners will also get the size-advantage-so-everyones-gonna-play-him-online Yoda. It's a win win situation.
