We're only halfway through the pandemonium that is Comic-Con this year, and the International Masquerade is still to come -- but in the meantime we wanted to bring you just a taste of the eye candy available on the show floor and in the clogged halls of the SDCC. Us? We're wearing our patented bedraggled blogger hobo look. These are the people who made an effort.

Wait, I remember the next-gen Bionic Commando having a bionic arm with weiners on it.

Just in case you didn't know, because of massive making fun of arm wieners, they actually removed them and changed their color. So they are the same color as the arm now.
That's official...
Rumor though is the game will have in the options to change the color of the arm wieners, so if you want them back to hot dog color, you are more then welcome to change it back manually. Also you are supposedly able to change it to whatever color you want, I always thought they'd look better in green or blue myself...

I admire these people for putting so much energy into these costumes. They truly are in love with these characters and, for the most part, they all have a genuine sense of creativity. But simultaneously I feel they're rather pathetic, in a tragic sort of way. No disrespect intended.
And I can't take any guy who wears mascara too seriously.

How do you know that they're not just doing it for fun and taking a piss? Me and my mates did cheerleading a couple of years ago.Does that makes us hot and/or gay?

Cheerlead all you want, just make sure you send me the photos.
I meant no malice in my comment. It's a genuine feeling I have. I don't look down on anybody who does this sort of thing, I even proclaimed my admiration for such artists, but I cannot suppress the fact that I feel there is a sadness in such devotion. I'm a man of inaction, so maybe it's a sort of jealousy.

I think cosplay is (psychologically speaking) okay on a Halloween-type basis. I.e. the costume is intended to display your creativity and/or to make people laugh. Dressing up as a fictional character (or I guess a non-fictional one is the same case) seems horribly unhealthy, considering that it seems to belay some serious identity issues - you're happier or prouder to be someone else's creation than your own. I think if serial cosplayers were truly genuine in their desire to display their own talent, they'd a.) create their own costumes or b.) be a fashion designer I guess?
Nonetheless, it can't hurt to do it once in your life.

Nah Yourself, I have friends that like designing costumes and they all just make them because of their love for the characters.
Now designing is one thing, and cosplaying a completely different one, that's what I don't understand, if they have such admiration for the characters, if you look nothing like the character, why cosplay it when you are just being pretty much making fun of the character?

I don't really see the sadness in this. It's something they enjoy doing. You'll never find a cosplayer who goes into a DMV wanting to change the name on his license to "The Bat." So there is really no identity crisis there.
It's just some people found this an enjoyable thing to do, they did it, this is all just joking around and having fun, and for some reason it's sad...
Oooookay... whatever. If these people can geek out at an event like this in much the same way some shallow preppy whore in college can dress up as "bimbo nurse 2008" on October 31st, I don't see an issue. This is an event that cosplayers own. It's their holloween. Just because it falls outside of the date set forth by social norms doesn't make it tragic or sad.

I think every season should be cleavage season.
Now, skirt season is something that should be celebrated. It comes and goes so fast!

I saw Stargate in there. I'm sorry, but I just love all things Stargate SG-1. The new movie comes out in 3 days (woot), and the MMO is coming this fall. Now if they can just get the series onto Blu-ray I'll be a happy clam.

The Mega Man costumer looks like a girl. Probably is a girl considering that waste and the flat crotch.

Too true. Those of us who are required to post on video game blogs have not the leisure of spare time in which to do something we enjoy.

Going to anime and sci-fi conventions is one of the biggest self-esteem boosts you can get. No matter how much of a pathetic slob of a nerd you might feel like before you enter the convention center, there will always be someone on a lower rung to put you at the top of your totem pole.

Could have done without seeing that guy in the Speedo, but I am very impressed with the Joker girl's creativity and the nerdy Batman guy hits a huge soft spot with me. Cosplay can be so endearing and rewarding when it's not creepy. Too bad I am lazy.

Haha, I like how the camel toe comments were deleted. Anyway, for the Megaman costume that's NOT camel toe. It's either the way the costume was made or a dancer's belt. So yes, it could be a guy.
