It scares me to see that all of these general posts are being posted under the title "Joystiq Staff". Before all these AOL Cutbacks started, the last time "Joystiq Staff" posted anything was September 8th, 2006 (http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/08/shipment-of-broadway-for-wii-has-been-well-underway-hint-of-pow/). Please don't leave us Joystiq... we love you.:(

That post originally was not under "Joystiq staff". It was by Robert Summa who got canned after the internet exploded and damned him to hell lol.

O... I see. Lol. That was quite a sticky situation. But the point still remains that the "Joystiq Staff" title was rarely used before the AOL cutbacks started and the increased use of it is unsettling.

I stopped coming to Joystiq for a while after that little incident. Reminds me of the Gerstmann debacle (brought it up during the gate too).

I was thinking the same thing. I hope everything works out for the writers (and eds.). It would be sad to lose a great gameblog like joystiq to some crappy corp restructuring. Dun leeb us!!

Could someone please explain Final Fantasy to me?
What's it about? Are there many recurring characters? Recurrent themes? Are the games in chronological order?
Just what is it all about?

You asked all the exact questions as if you knew... Until Final Fantasy 10-2 there were no true reappearances by any characters... Although it was kind of thing for there to always be a pilot or inventor named Cid... No true recurring themes... No continued story so no chronological order to worry about.

At least according to my friends, the reason for FF's Success is because unlike other RPGs the stories were more epic and the game played better than others. Also each iteration changed the mechanics of play, all were turn based but there was always a different system for magic and assigning abilities...
