Too Human demo classes unlock over time, internal clock shift makes them all available

Despite some minor qualms with the game's control scheme, we're actually somewhat fond of what we've seen from Silicon Knights' Norse mythology flavored action/RPG, Too Human. We were disappointed, however, when we discovered the game's demo, released during E3, only contained one out of five of the game's playable classes -- the Champion. Fortunately, Silicon Knights included a clever time release system with the demo, which will unlock other classes as we approach Too Human's August 19 release date.
The Berserker class actually appeared on Friday, and according to mysteriously informed GameFAQs commenter Dimascus, the Commando will report for duty on August 12. However, patience isn't really a virtue possessed by most gamers, so it's no surprise that many Too Human players discovered that with by tinkering with the 360's internal clock and doing a bit of tricky menu navigation, it's possible to play as all five of the classes before their initial dates of arrival. We've got Dimascus' method after the jump -- are you brave enough to propel your 360 into the future?
[Thanks, Boff.]
1. Disconnect from Xbox Live.
2. In the Dashboard go to the "System" blade, and then enter "Console Settings", followed by "Clock".
3. Enter "Date and Time" and change the year from 2008 to 2009.
4. Return to the Dashboard.
5. Go to the "Games" blade, enter the "Games Library" and launch the Too Human demo.
6. Begin the demo and enter the Class Selection screen. You will notice you have automatically unlocked the Berserker and Commando classes by simply moving the date forward on your console.
7. But the Defender and Bioengineer remain locked...
8. To play as the Defender or Bioengineer you need to first move the screen to the desired class which is locked.
9. Then simultaneously flick the left thumbstick right and press A, to play the demo as a Defender or Bioengineer.
10. Enjoy and find a class to love in Too Human.

Don't do it! Don't you people watch movies!?!?!?
No good EVER comes from time traveling!!!

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious shit.
Joystick Hero @ Jul 27th 2008 4:03PM
Pffft. Back in my day we didn't have menus to navigate. Just cable, a clock tower, and a lightning bolt; and we were lucky to get THAT. You kids have it too easy these days.
eldee @ Jul 27th 2008 4:39PM
It's okay, I've done this before. You must bring your own weapons.

...and how do you make your 360 hit 88MPH anyway? Is it how fast I'll throw it out of my window when it RROD's on me?

I tried this but failed. I think I didnt have enough power. 1.21 jigawatts is just too much for me.

While I certainly commend someone for wanting to time travel 100 times, taking from this old time travel-- ah, fuckit.

Is this actually real?
Nincodedo @ Jul 27th 2008 4:42PM
I can do it. I can do it 9 times.

Woah, if that was a Bonus Stage reference Nincodedo, you have won my allegiance.

Kevin @ Jul 27th 2008 3:24PM
Mysteriously informed? Probably just went day by day with the clock until the Commando unlocked to see when it would work.
Wes @ Jul 27th 2008 9:41PM
Its mysterious that a gamer would have enough patience to go day-by-day to find out when each class will be unlocked but not enough patience to wait for the classes to unlock naturally.
atrimus @ Jul 27th 2008 3:32PM
let me know when better controls unlock over time. until then i'll just play GOW for the umpteenth time until Fable 2 comes out.
syrik zero @ Jul 27th 2008 3:34PM
You should play Fable 1. It's still awesomely exciting to play. Sniping with arrows is sweet. Pop the heads off and they spin and shower blood down.
Jakka (Not sure why he got banned?) @ Jul 27th 2008 4:53PM
Yeah, I hated the combat system too...
...but then I decided to read the combat manual in main menu. And suddenly, it all became smooth and easy!
atrimus @ Jul 27th 2008 5:16PM
to me combat wasn't difficult, it was just boring and shallow. i've never liked games where melee combat is assigned to the analog, and gun targeting was a down right mess. these are my only gripes with the demo, but they are big enough gripes to deter me from buying the game.
syrik zero @ Jul 27th 2008 5:56PM
I did the same thing Jakka and then I also enjoyed it much more. It wasn't too bad before but after I read the instructions I was able to get combos with the melee and guns and that was fun and looked cool
Deaf RaGe @ Jul 27th 2008 9:51PM
You know, at first it was "meh". Then I played it some more, understood how combat work and I actually enjoyed it. It's not perfect, far from it. It doesn't live up to all the hype, far from it. But it is fun once you get into it. But you have to WANT to go deeper into it, otherwise it is quite shallow. At the end of my 4th playthrough, I thought to myself: " This is a good Diablo 3 waiter". I might get it if only to quench my dungeon crawling/hack 'n slash thirst.
[.sm0ke.] @ Jul 27th 2008 3:32PM
I can't make my Xbox go 88 mph...
mirage @ Jul 27th 2008 5:52PM
I got mine to 88 mph, but the flux capacitor over-heated and it RROD'd before I could see the results. Damn MS and their cheap components!
Duke @ Jul 28th 2008 10:48AM
The problem is that the 360 doesn't have the stainless steel body, which you need to influence the flux dispersal from your flux capacitor. So, just place your 360 in a DeLorean and you should be able to pull it off!
[.sm0ke.] @ Jul 28th 2008 1:07PM
Oh ok, I'll have to give that a try.
BananaBoat @ Jul 27th 2008 3:34PM
I'd try this out, but I already deleted the demo after playing about five minutes of it. Not my cup of tea.
Ryura @ Jul 27th 2008 3:58PM
I thought the same thing, till I played it a second time. It seems to have a steep learning curve that limits fun until you get over it.

Omega2k3 @ Jul 27th 2008 3:49PM
You don't need the clock changed. If you mash the 'a' button on the class you want to play AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN, and hit left or right (depending), you'll select it without having to alter dates. If it doesn't work, it'll show the animation of it going to the next class, so just restart.
BIGFAT @ Jul 27th 2008 4:03PM
you have to play as the Berserker class, the Berserker class is worth going back and redownloading the demo if you deleted it. It turns this game from a OK game into a great game.

Despite all the random negative spin people try to give Too Human, I think it's actually going to turn out to be a pretty fun little game.
Too many people want this game to be the 360's Haze, and I just don't think it's going to be. This game is actually quite fun.
Jakka (Not sure why he got banned?) @ Jul 27th 2008 4:49PM
"I just don't think it's going to be"
It's not.Everybody who says otherwise deserves to be slapped.
j.howlett @ Jul 27th 2008 6:44PM
Haze will be the 360's Haze. but it might mysteriously turn into a game that should be checked out for its unique nectar manipulating gameplay if you can overlook the over the top dialogue and sameness of other shooters with limited gun variety. i've seen some gameplay videos with knives and nectar bombs that i might want to try at a later date for a cheap price. there are better shooters out now and coming.
theturtle363 @ Jul 27th 2008 4:43PM
So, I guess that "Falconer" chip microsoft is rumored to put into newer 360s is really a FLUX CAPACITOR!
