Castle Vidcons wins only because Sonic meets Zelda is such a terrible sounding idea.
Lord Bowser @ Jul 27th 2008 10:43AM
Damn, I clicked the wrong one. And it's a poor comic as well: though I haven't seen Walle, so it maybe made of more funny than I currently understand.
Titanium_Orchid @ Jul 27th 2008 10:52AM
Goombah v. Roombah ftw
Boo Radley @ Jul 27th 2008 11:43AM
I hope that means "Fuck the what?"
Kye - Me_DF @ Jul 27th 2008 6:51PM
G vs R got a smile out of me.
My vote HAD to go to VGCats though.
HAD to.
Korova *of the highlands* @ Jul 27th 2008 7:55PM
Strong field overall, but goomba v. roomba had enough simple absurdity to give me a hearty belly laugh. HBL
Negativecool @ Jul 27th 2008 7:57PM
VG wasn't really funny, it was just good commentary.
rowd149 @ Jul 27th 2008 10:55AM
Hey guys. One entry per comic, plx. You're totally messing up the balance. OF EVERYTHING.
Demaar @ Jul 27th 2008 11:54AM
Not really. It's forcing people to actually choose the best comic rather than go "this is the series of comics I like".
Lewis (RROD: July 16) @ Jul 27th 2008 11:15AM
I like these guys alot...usually but this time around, they're all weak.
Wiinterfang @ Jul 27th 2008 11:23AM
The wall-e is awesome and the sonic one was funny as well.
Obie @ Jul 27th 2008 11:31AM
VG Cats for the epic win. Potatomoto...that bastard!
4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 12:28PM
DUUUUUUUR HUUUUR VG CATS BASH NINTENDO, THAT MAKES ME HAPPY, ME VOTE FOR VG CATS
LaughingTarget @ Jul 27th 2008 12:42PM
They just recycled the PS3 version of the same exact joke.
Obie @ Jul 27th 2008 2:00PM
4MyFriends: I have been a Nintendo customer for 20 years, so me voting for that comic is especially poignant. Why are your panties in a bunch, it's just a comic, relax kiddo.
Sami @ Jul 27th 2008 6:06PM
Well goodbye, old poignant Nintendo customer! You couldn't hold up the Gamecube even if you tried!
Saria the Cat @ Jul 27th 2008 6:15PM
The awesomeness was compounded by the fact that I just saw Rescue Dawn a few days ago and they totally connected.
Korova *of the highlands* @ Jul 27th 2008 7:57PM
My condolences to all the peas, but that strip made me hungry.
tc @ Jul 27th 2008 11:45AM
excuberence!
well no actually, VG Cats lacking subtlety this week. That point could have been made in half the panels.
Its Vidcons for me, so epic!
tc @ Jul 27th 2008 11:48AM
*exuberance
t_m @ Jul 27th 2008 11:48AM
well none of them were remotely funny... but the VGcats one has managed to capture the way a lot of people feel right now, so that gets the win...
4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 12:17PM
Oh, you mean the very minor but very vocal group?
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 27th 2008 1:16PM
Yep, that's the one. Yet ironically, the same very minor and very vocal group that supported their ass for 10 years and will still, somehow, be around when Martha Steward quits giving a fuck about video games.
Boo Radley @ Jul 27th 2008 1:33PM
What? Is that the same group that are crying over the loss of FFXIII exclusivity? Some people should not be allowed to live.
The Fatass of Kickassness @ Jul 27th 2008 2:10PM
"Oh, you mean the very minor but very vocal group?"
You're apparently just as disconnected from the gaming community as Nintendo is. Minor but vocal? The backlash was fucking huge, moron. Everyone and their mother was disappointed by that conference. Before that conference, I was the biggest Nintendo Defender on this site (besides Fernando, of course). I'm not gonna defend what went down these last few weeks, because its the fucking undependable. I appreciate the apologies from Nintendo and shit, but here's the thing you don't understand.
It's not the fact that I didn't hear enough about hardcore games at the conference. Mario/Zelda/Pikmin sounds pretty nice.
It's the fact that, instead of spotlighting those games, or at the very least devoting more than one sentence to those games, they spotlighted a bunch of casual bullshit. If that doesn't prove which market they're concerned about more with, then there's no convincing you.
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 27th 2008 2:11PM
Yeah, console warriors do tend to annoy in general...
4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 9:48PM
great job comprehending what I said...dumbasses
samfish @ Jul 28th 2008 12:02AM
"It's the fact that, instead of spotlighting those games, or at the very least devoting more than one sentence to those games, they spotlighted a bunch of casual bullshit. If that doesn't prove which market they're concerned about more with, then there's no convincing you."
So will you change your tune when they hold another conference this fall, like they did last year when they announced Monster Hunter 3 and Sonic in Brawl?
Who cares what they highlighted at E3. They've explained their reasoning, and it's sensible enough to me. Folks like us WILL follow them whenever they are set to announce any kind of conference.
So if they want to use the one show where the new market pays attention, then more power to them. I don't agree that they should have gone with such a narrow focus, but in NO WAY does that suggest they aren't focusing on their base anymore.
I'm also tempted to agree with the vocal minority bit, just because...well...really it's just a bunch of nerds on the internet complaining. There really aren't THAT many of us.
However, it was a hell of a backlash, seeing as this is the first time I think I have EVER seen Nintendo respond to something like this. Usually they just kind of go back into their cave and stay quiet until they have something else to say, whether people like it or not. Definitely a case of the mouse that roared.
darkandlong @ Jul 27th 2008 11:51AM
Shouldn't this be monthly webcomic wrapup? A lot of these strips are older then a week.
Ross Miller @ Jul 27th 2008 12:12PM
If you notice we took a 2-week hiatus for E3. Bi-weekly webcomic wrapup edition? I'll consider it. You, sir, are a genius
Kevin @ Jul 27th 2008 11:52AM
if it wasn't for that damn tag line at the end of the fourth panel, CAD would have been pretty good.
ogvor @ Jul 27th 2008 4:04PM
My thoughts exactly. It was an actually good CAD comic but for reasons unknown to me Tim had to explain to us why the joke was funny.
GreyFox @ Jul 27th 2008 5:47PM
I stopped finding CAD funny a long time ago. The guy just sucks ass at comics or do I have to start linking the miscarriage crap again?
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 27th 2008 11:59AM
Seven Words brought a tear to my eye.
MNC Dover @ Jul 27th 2008 2:16PM
I hear you. This brought a tear to my eye as well:

crtl+alt+del = hahahaha!
Neebs @ Jul 27th 2008 12:24PM
Sure, if you haven't seen that joke 100 other times.
4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 12:27PM
just like you haven't seen the poorly executed joke in this week's VG Cats, but it didn't stop you people from voting for it.
Neebs @ Jul 27th 2008 12:31PM
Hey, I didn't vote for VGCats.
MagikOvenMit @ Jul 27th 2008 2:30PM
They literally explained the punchline (which has been done many times before). That was one of the least funny comics I've ever seen.
Neebs @ Jul 27th 2008 2:52PM
B^U, Magik.
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 27th 2008 6:18PM
yep, haven't seen THAT joke before

4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 12:18PM
Oh what a surprise, Joystiq users pick the shitty VG Cats one ONLY because it bashes Nintendo. Great Job missing the whole fucking point of picking the comic because it's the best....idiots
svenhoek @ Jul 27th 2008 2:07PM
Yes we picked it solely because it bashed Nintendo. Thats why I voted for CAD too. Never mind that its funny.
I think ill borrow a line from MNC, Suck my dick you fanboy motherfucker.
Obie @ Jul 27th 2008 2:56PM
Poor wittle babwy! Sniff Sniff.
Shaq-Fu @ Jul 27th 2008 6:23PM
Even I thought VG cats was funny this week
Does that mean that I hate Nintendo?
If you excuse me, I've got a Wolf that needs to be taught magical brush techniques.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 27th 2008 6:29PM
Oh, right, because there's no way some of us actually find VG Cats funny, what with its great drawing style and awesome use of parody/satire. Did it ever occur to you that Scott actually IS/WAS a Nintendo fan? There's a reason almost all his comics are Nintendo-themed, and not just Nintendo-bashing. He's in the business of making funnies, not console warring like you.
mr nimblewick @ Jul 27th 2008 9:11PM
Anti-nintendo fanboys do find it funny. Nintendo fanboys don't. Seems normal. Many times, anti-ps3 and anti-360 comics have had the most votes. Let's be fair now.
Personally, I think the cartoon is missing the point, and the point it DID make was belabored, but I can see why the same people who have been saying "SCREW NINTENDO" over the past two weeks would find it funny.
4MyFriends @ Jul 27th 2008 9:59PM
"Even I thought VG cats was funny this week
Does that mean that I hate Nintendo?"
Not necessarily, it could also mean you have a very 'warped' sense of funny, but I'm going with hater
