If you snag them quick enough you should be able to get them without the red band and possibly get Warhawk with the headset.
WRE: I own all 3! (4 if you count the DS.) @ Jul 28th 2008 3:04PM
I'll probably pick up Resistance. Any reasons why I shouldn't?
Duke @ Jul 28th 2008 3:31PM
Its a solid game. I enjoyed playing the SP when I got the system a while back. I have only done the MP a few times, it seemed pretty solid.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jul 28th 2008 3:35PM
nope, its a pretty good game in my book. especially when you consider that its a launch title. the campaign mode is great and its ever better in co-op. multiplayer isnt bad either, though im not sure if many people still play it now (i havent in a couple months).
i think $30 is a great price for it and you can probably find it ever cheaper on eBay now. go for it.
j.howlett @ Jul 28th 2008 3:46PM
the MP is almost always easy to jump in ranked games. i've stayed away and come back for long stretches. i was just playing a couple minutes ago.
Steven Colbert @ Jul 28th 2008 5:01PM
You should totally get into Resistance.Alot of people are still playing and the matches are lag-free.Good weapons and soldier customization along with a proper ranking system. You could also customize your own matches and their is clan support.
nxtiak @ Jul 28th 2008 3:06PM
Jewel case? Like an Audio CD? LOL. Amaray.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 28th 2008 6:40PM
They don't use jewel cases or keep cases (Amaray). They're BluRay discs and use the BluRay packaging (just in a different color).
Cutty @ Jul 28th 2008 7:46PM
The normal Blu-Ray cases are by Amaray. =P
Duke 2 @ Jul 28th 2008 3:08PM
PS3 Greatest Hits = Oxymoron
WRE: I own all 3! (4 if you count the DS.) @ Jul 28th 2008 3:11PM
Wouldn't the "Greatest Hits" moniker be relativistic?
Mr Khan @ Jul 28th 2008 3:25PM
WRE wins
Even the 3DO could have had "greatest hits." Road Rash, Alone in the Dark, Crash N' Burn, etc. Nowhere near great when compared to their contemporaries in that generation (Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, F-Zero X), but great for the platform
Though a few of those games on that PS3 list do stand as some of the titans of this generation, too.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 28th 2008 3:25PM
"Wouldn't the "Greatest Hits" moniker be relativistic?"
Well some of the titles there are multiplatform so it isn't exactly “Ps3 greatest hits”, they are on the Ps3 though but some of them are still multiplatform.
Also calling Assasin’s creed a greatest hit on the PS3 is mere exaggeration if not a lie since is multiplatform and is not great.
Duke 2 @ Jul 28th 2008 3:32PM
@ WRE
using terms such as Oxymoron is pushing it around here as it is. Usin words like relativistic is just outright heresy...
John Z @ Jul 28th 2008 6:45PM
"Relativistic" means "approaching the speed of light".
I think you mean "relatively", which means "in comparison to".
Because I will freaking eat a running table saw if copies of MotorStorm are selling so fast they defy the known laws of physics and the C barrier.
WRE: I own all 3! (4 if you count the DS.) @ Jul 28th 2008 8:05PM
John C,
Yup. It means that as well. As a matter of fact, many English words have more than one meaning. Please read the defintion of "relativistic" followed by the defintions of "relativity". Thanks.
rel·a·tiv·is·tic
–adjective
1. of or pertaining to relativity or relativism.
relativity
noun
1. (physics) the theory that space and time are relative concepts rather than absolute concepts
2. the quality of being relative and having significance only in relation to something else
Aaron @ Jul 28th 2008 3:09PM
Assassin's Creed has been 29.99 at Target now for quite some time.
Fernando Rocker @ Jul 28th 2008 3:10PM
Jewel cases? Really?
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jul 28th 2008 3:42PM
i saw some pics of them in some red blu-ray cases before so im pretty confused myself.
doh23 @ Jul 28th 2008 3:10PM
lmao wtf? Vegas? I can get that 19.99 new canadian at Futureshop or Best Buy. Hopefully they don't raise the price to $29.99 because of this
Nicknin10do @ Jul 28th 2008 3:11PM
As soon as I saw the picture it reminded me of the box's for the Sega Genesis games
FOXHOUND @ Jul 28th 2008 3:29PM
Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about that too.
mmxzero @ Jul 28th 2008 3:39PM
Same here. I Did a double take when I scrolled past the picture.
deABREU @ Jul 28th 2008 4:28PM
same font, same color! I saw it too as soon as I hit the eye on it!
daddycool @ Jul 28th 2008 4:31PM
Why does this case remind me of Sega?
Jacksons @ Jul 28th 2008 5:58PM
Ok, I'm not seeing things after all. I had to pull out Sonic 3 when I first saw this. Now I'm feeling all nostalgic.
Alex @ Jul 28th 2008 3:15PM
if i had the extra cash lying around, i'd probably snag assassin's creed or ninja gaiden sigma.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 28th 2008 3:27PM
FFS go for Ninja Gaiden.
Jacksons @ Jul 28th 2008 3:18PM
Greatest/Platinum hits titles always make me look at my DS with disgust. Nearly 3 year old Mario Kart DS, still rocking the $35 price tag.
Mr Khan @ Jul 28th 2008 3:23PM
It's the long-tail thing that Nintendo was bragging about. If it keeps selling at that price for years on end, why lower it?
Flamehearted @ Jul 28th 2008 3:19PM
Greatest HIT - fixd
j.howlett @ Jul 28th 2008 3:19PM
i really want warhawk but barely have the cash for that so forget about the expansions. who can i rob?
Hyams @ Jul 28th 2008 3:40PM
You don't need the expansions. The game's still perfectly awesome with them. Although, if you do get one, and can only afford one, get the Broken Mirror one.
Marty @ Jul 28th 2008 3:20PM
Do you really need a buyer's guide for a number of games you can count with both hands, even if you're missing a finger?
The_Punisher @ Jul 28th 2008 3:34PM
1) Yes, it doesn't matter how MANY there are. People want to know if they should buy each one.
2) Have you ever said something nice? If so, i can't remember it.
Maya Butreeks @ Jul 28th 2008 3:39PM
shouldn't you be performing "YMCA" at a bar somewhere?
turkeybaster @ Jul 28th 2008 3:51PM
@Maya:
"Marty! There's no need to feel down!"
Noshino @ Jul 28th 2008 3:52PM
Nah, Amateurs' night is only on fridays
Marty @ Jul 28th 2008 6:55PM
The fact that you guys took my comment personally and far beyond anything it was meant to be really says a lot.
I've said plenty of nice things here, but as you've probably found from your visits to the internet, nobody remembers or talks about the nice things. If you don't say something mean, you don't get a reaction.
Need proof? Look at the four comments above this one.
j.howlett @ Jul 28th 2008 8:42PM
hey, if you say not "nice" things regarding ps3 in a ps3 related post after managing to be the first poster and saying not "nice" things in a series of ps3 articles not to long ago people start to recognize a pattern. that proof is in the joystiq archives.
unboring @ Jul 28th 2008 9:39PM
"I've said plenty of nice things here, but as you've probably found from your visits to the internet, nobody remembers or talks about the nice things. If you don't say something mean, you don't get a reaction."
I think he means taht you never say nice things about PS3, and to be honest, I've been a joystiq reader since the beginning, I have always known you to be one of the most anti-sony posters here. If you would argue that can you pull up some quotes with ps3 compliments that arent backhanded?
wow it will pain you this fall when ps3 has incredible AAA titles, when 360 is month to month dominated by ps3 sales in america and across the world. I wonder if you will change your anti-sony hatred then, or if it is ingrained in your genome.
3cubed @ Jul 28th 2008 3:25PM
When will Nintendo be doing this?
I am waiting for the day Twilight Princess and Paper Mario go on sale so I can buy them. I don't want to waste 50$ now if there is a chance they could be cheaper by Christmas.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 28th 2008 3:29PM
Super Paper Mario isn't a waste but I would totally buy Metroid and Zelda if they were on 30$ or 40$.
Sonic and the secret rings is cheap and if you have the patience stand the horrible controls for a while until you can upgrade to better controls it's worth it.
Mr Khan @ Jul 28th 2008 3:37PM
Probably won't be doing it until they have to do other things that are well overdue on Wii: namely colors and price drops (both of hardware and peripherals)
dwhite @ Jul 28th 2008 3:33PM
voice over: Nothing new on blueray this week?
Try some games. Three of them are
actually good. Available in retro
packaging. Just to hold you over.
voice over: (whisper) Play Station... keep waiting...
silverwolf761 @ Jul 28th 2008 4:29PM
It's amazing how people can put a negative spin on something good like cheap games that are actually good
NukeAssault @ Jul 28th 2008 3:34PM
Maybe ill pick up Resistance... I honestly didn't like it all that much when i played it. But i plan on getting the second. So i figure i may as well start caring about the story. =P
Hyams @ Jul 28th 2008 3:45PM
The first doesn't have a story. Well, it does, but not one worth caring about. Here's everything you need to know:
(um ... spoilers, I guess?)
1) Hale has been infected with the Chimera virus, but instead of putting him a coma whilst it turns him into a Chimera, it's just made him stronger and faster.
2) The Chimerans were digging up buildings, rather than building them, suggesting that they're aliens rather than a Russian experiment gone wrong.
3) Hale blew up the Chimeran's main base in England, which made all the Chimera in England spazz out and die.
4) Hale got picked up by special ops. soldiers at the end of the game.
j.howlett @ Jul 28th 2008 3:49PM
i just hope my medals and rank give me something in R2 multi
GoldenS1104 @ Jul 28th 2008 3:45PM
I love the greatest hits prices but the boxing urks me a bit. It calls out to me saying, "You were too cheap to buy me when I was new. Good job being late to the party asshat."
