Amazon clarifies some Gears of War 2 Lancer details

Gears of War fanboys -- especially one we know really well -- have been beside themselves over the announcement last weekend of a special Gears of War 2 retail edition bundled with a full-size (non-working) Lancer replica. The only issue is that there's been a tad bit of confusion over pricing. We spoke with Amazon.com, which will be selling the bundle, and received back these bullet points of information:

Amazon is the exclusive U.S. retailer of the GoW collector's lancer.
Amazon will offer the lancer as a bundle with GoW 2.
Pricing for the bundle is not yet confirmed.
A detail page for the product bundle will go live on the site this week and if pricing is still to be confirmed at that time, customers can sign up to get an email notification for when the product is available for pre-order.

We'll be sure to put up a post when the pre-order for the bundle goes live. We'd rather have fanboys walking around with Lancer replicas than making their own homemade versions with movable parts.

Does it use a oil/gas mixture? What is the oil to fuel ratio?

I think it's using a 50:1 gas/oil mixture. Fortunately you can buy oil in pre-measured amounts for specific volumes of fuel at places like Lowes.

That necessarily doesn't mean the rest of the world can't get it somewhere else right? I need the lancer replica to complete my Action Cat/Ferret Armor.

Um. You can order games off Amazon do ca. I don't see how it being Amazon exclusive is gonna stop Canadians from getting this sweet cake-cutting chainsaw off our grubby paws!

Wont they have to put a bright orange cap on the end of it? Thought all toy guns, replicas, etc are supposed to have that so you don't get shot on sight by the police.

i doubt it, it looks nothing like a real gun. if they DO add that orange tip, that would be uber lame.

As much as that looks freakin sweet, I was thinking the same thing. Did Microsoft even get the okay from government agencies to sell these??

These aren't exactly palm size replicas we're talking here... I see legal issues coming up ahead real soon. That or some kid getting hurt (hopefuly not) by this fatally one way or another.

Isn't the giant chainsaw attached to the thing the equivalent of an orange cap? Or do lots of guns have chainsaw bayonets these days?

You are retarded. It's not a "toy" and there is no law that says you have to have orange caps on toy guns. Toy companies do it to avoid law suits. Police don't just shoot people that have guns either, even real guns. Has it happened before? Yes, but people get arrested every single day with firearms in their possession and don't get shot.

So if you are stupid enough to point a fake gun and police and not drop it when they tell you to, then the world is better off without you. So orange caps = fail.

You missing the point, a while back we had someone shot in the middle of the night because he pulled out a wallet which got mistaken for a gun..

Imagine in the middle night some teenager walks around with this sucker late at night, sometimes its extremely difficult with poor lighting to make the right call. Any officer could easily determine this as a gun of somesort without properly identifying in time.

I admit the replica is hot as hell and I want one for sute, but I know something is gonna happen with this thing and ending up on the news.

wow, I did not expect full size. I might have to get this now. I regretted buying Halo 3 Legendary but a full size fucking lancer is just ace.

Dammit. A small replica was just more weak CE tat, but now it's full size I might have to get it.

I don't even like GoW that much (great game - that's about it) but "the stupid kid part of me that likes toys even though I'm too old for this sort of thing" wants a full size Lancer on my desk to collect dust and occasionally pick up and make chainsaw noises with.

It also makes a great girlfriend deterrent. So if you find that you have too many girls bothering you, owning one of these is guaranteed to make your life easier by forcing them to walk away shaking their heads.

That's a wicked replica. But I'm not really interested unless it's the real deal :)

Yeah, this will need to have the bright orange cap on it. It's required by law.

Hopefully they make it so you can take it off. I'm not sure if they're allowed to even do that, though.

Weak-sauce. Looks cheap. Chainsaw on the front looks like a fisher price "my first chainsaw" toy glued on the front. Over all the execution on this pack in is amateur at best. The more I look at it the more I hate it. Which kinda sucks because the gun should be a pretty cool pack in when you think about it.

Well if your near a cop, I wouldn't exactly be holding the gun in my hand, and even if you did hold one near a cop, your not threatening anybody. If they shoot you, although there's a chance you might be dead, your family could wipe their tears with the giant check they'll be getting.
