Fairies are the most annoying ever

The chaps at GamesRadar have compiled a list of the most annoying female game characters of all time. It's a standard "Top Whatever" ranking, with seven (not six, not eight?) entries. For the most part, it seems to accurately summarize the worst characters in a few non-Nintendo games, but we're a bit shocked at number one.

Navi, everyone's favorite helpful fairy from Ocarina of Time is deemed as the most annoying. The reasoning behind this is simple -- LISTEN! HEY! HEY! HEY! LISTEN! HEY! LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN! HEY! ... sound familiar? Sure, but was it really that bad? Some might call Navi's sweet little voice a siren song, other might want to smack the little insect with a giant flyswatter. What's your take on the pint-size companion?

I sincerely love Navi. And she doesn't say her quote enough to irritate. Just listen to her already if she's saying it a lot.
What pissed me off is the tsundere character of Midna. She's annoying with all the insults and arrogance for nothing.

Ditto on Midna. Oh, how many times I wanted to send a clawshot up her ass or have Wolf Link piss on her stupid, annoying voice.

That comment was gold.

Anyone see that Hsu and Chan comic about SSBB showing Link getting annoyed by Navi?

I really didn't think she was that bad. She only occosionally bugged me. It was only to give us tips when we were kinda lost and usually they were helpful. It wasn't like every two minutes. Mabey five per temple? Less? More? I don't know.

She was extremely annoying to me. 90% of the time I didn't care at all what she had to say because it was usually really useless to me and I would just skip it.

Navi never bothered me in the least. I found the way they handled her surprisingly unobtrusive given the alternatives. I don't agree with this rating.

No, Navi's pretty annoying. Especially during the 4th or 5th time your playing through the game.

I always loled whenever there was a boss fight and I tried to get help.

In the zelda series, I don't find Navi annoying.

ANY time she's mentioned on the internet, I cringe at the predictable reaction everyone gets from it.

She's the 64 generations' The-Cake-Is-A-Lie joke.

I agree Navi could be quite annoying, ceila from phantom hourglass (who sounds just like navi) is much less intrusive and annoying, and midna was just funny with her arrogance and insults

I thought that I was annoyed by Navi, but then I recently started playing Majora's Mask and Tatl's little bike bell noise just isn't the same. I would take "Hey! Listen! Watch Out!" over that business any day.

I actually have "Hey!" as my 'you just received an IM' noise.

I've got Navi's "Hello" for when people sign in, "Look" for when I get emails, and "Listen" for when people send me an im. Everytime I'm on MSN, I'm happily reminded of playing OoT ^_^

I loved Navi! She wasn't that annoying. I remember my mom always thought she said "what's up!" when she really said "watch out!" I have no idea why she thought that.

Keep in mind the siren's song caused ships to crash. So either way it's not a positive thing.

This reminds me of a game webcomic (thinks was vgcats) where they made me remember when games didn't have voices and were enjoyable

That seriously is my favorite strip from any webcomic, ever. It's soooo true.

Unsurprisingly, I have some disagreements with that list:

- Ashley from Resident Evil 4? I liked her. Never had a problem.

- Alexis Sinclair from Sin should REALLY have been on that list. One of the worst villains ever. I mean, scantily-clad femme-fatal? Were they *trying* for incredibly generic and cliche'd?

- They should have had that Yakuza woman from GTA3 instead of Catalina. I could deal with Catalina, but that Yakuza lady was so damn obnoxious it almost ruined the game for me.

Who was that Owl guy again? Kaepora Gaebora. He sucked, the music was kick ass, but he sucked. Also, sell me something with C with C

The only time Navi ever really got annoying was when you deviated from the storyline to go undertake a side-quest of some sort

I would always go to get the Biggoron's sword immediately after becoming an adult, and it would get rather grating as she kept asking me to go check on Saria

Otherwise, i quite liked her.

I've been playing Zelda's since the first... I really don't need a ****** tutorial fairy telling me what I already know.

Navi's voice isn't nearly as annoying as most people make it out to be. It's not like you can't just ignore the C-up button whenever she wants to give advice. Some people get themselves too worked up over little things.

However, she does kind of fall flat relative to Tatl (personality) and Midna (snark) in the dialogue department.

I never tried to speed-run zelda, so Navi was an annoying lil speck. I often had to mute the game just to be rid of her constant yapping.

I liked Navi........
