The IGN one's seem a little more interesting. These are almost a list of just what was at the show rather than what truly stood out.

Why no E3 awards from X-Play? I understand that this year we didn't get much, but with Deadly Creatures, MadWorld, Animal Crossing, etc., they could have picked a "Best Wii Game"...

I believe that they said that not one of the games was really enough of a game to be considered for best game for the wii category. Which is pretty much true, nintendo showed no games at e3, they showed glorified over priced tech demos targeted at soccer moms.

Animal Crossing, The Conduit, Deadly Creatures, MadWorld, Samba de Amigo, Guitar Hero : WT, De Blob, Wario Land, Tales of Symphonia, Wii Sports... Suuure, none of them are "enough of a game"...

@ Anton:

I was thinking the same thing, I didn't see any of those except for AC and Wii Sports Resort.

And by the way, Wii Sports Resort does not deserve an award by any means.

Reggie and Cammie both deserve a good punch in the face.

Well, technically, the Conduit wasn't officially on the show floor. IGN was really the only one to give it recognition since they'd already been following it for awhile. I wouldn't be surprised if X-play and the others didn't even notice that it was there. A shame, the game looks pretty polished.

As far as Mad World is concerned... maybe that was because it wasn't playable and there was only a trailer for it. That's the only reason I can think of considering that game looks like Platinum Games managed to acquire the very essence of awesome and turn it into a video game.

Also, X-play's logic confuses me. Little Big Planet, a PS3 game, gets game of the show and yet Little Big Planet isn't the best PS3 game.

...what?

You self proclaimed "hardcore" gamers need to get off your fucking high horse and shut up about "casual" games, they are just as much video games as FPSs and GTA clones you guys hail as the only "true" games.

No one said that casual games weren't video games. We're just saying they aren't GOOD video games, and certainly not AWARD-WINNING video games.

Exactly. 99% of these casual games are ridiculously shitty and make anyone with half a brain feel like they just graduated the 2nd grade all over again. Companies need to work harder to make games that are a mix of casual and core like little big planet and even viva pinata to an extent.

Mst people consider the music-genre of video games (Rock Band, GH) to be casual-based games, for the most part. Are you telling me Rock Band isn't a good game? If so, well then shit me, I've obviously had the wrong impression on the game for the last, what, year?

I don't think that's the case. I love platformers dearly, but there hasn't been a big evolution in them in years and years, and with co-op, level creator, community aspects etc it looks like this will be phenomenal. A game I actually buy for my PS3, a miracle.

Where's my new Sly Cooper in 4d?

Maybe I have PC bias but I thought it put the other platforms to shame at E3. Spore, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Sims 3, Space Siege, Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Left 4 Dead, and Dragon Age: Origins were all shown there. I'm a little confused on how the Game Trailers one didn't even mention at least one of those. Maybe they don't know how to use a mouse and keyboard at the same time.

Oh well, maybe I should just accept the fact that in this new console world, the quantity that will be sold is way more important then quality of the product.

It's definitely your PC bias because almost all of those games aren't very good save for Spore, and none of those games except for Spore and Sims 3 will sell decent. Also Left 4 Dead is coming to 360.

tmacairjordan87: Wait...you're saying Dragon Age: Origins isn't going to be good? Where is a defense league for Bioware when you need one? As for Dawn of War 2, did you never play
the first Dawn of War or
Company of Heroes?

Space Siege isn't too bad. The released the demo a bit ago and, though it was short, it showed a game that could be fun with some polish.

"because almost all of those games aren't very good save for Spore"

So, you're telling me here, that games you've never played that have decent to great track records, hype surrounding them, and look to be lots of fun, aren't as great as they seem? But, you tell me, another game you've yet to play seems to be great? AND, you're telling me a FPS will also be usuable on a controller which is obviously better than a kb+m? Wow, thanks jordan, I would have never seen any of this coming. Think I'll go pick up a PS3 now and sell my gaming rig since it's so obviously useless and coming with so many obviously flawed games!

I love how Spore is turning out, don't get me wrong, but calling games such as Warhammer, another C&C (Every RTS seems to be C&C with a different skin, mind you), AoR, another bioware game, and a game (Left 4 Dead) being made by a company that faps to the thought of PC gaming bad/not-good is laughable at least and ignorant for the most part.

Seems to me, jordan, that you're just another console-biased player that dislikes the fact that the PC STILL happens to be alive and well. Or, hell, maybe you can't afford a PC gaming rig. Most fanboys bash each other do to that fact, seems like a logical answer. Or perhaps you're just butthurt that those PC/console ports will most likely play better on the PC? Games such as Far Cry 2, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Crysis: Warhead, etc. will all play better on the PC. As we all know, playing a FPS, RTS, and usually an RPG all feel awkward on a console compared to a PC.

tl;dr: Stop acting butthurt because you can't afford a PC rig and calling games with solid to great backgrounds bad. It makes you look fanboyish.

wow I love people see this invisible momentum that PS3 claims they have for this year. They bragged about GT:p that came and went, not too many people are talking about MGS4 anymore, and 256 online play is just retarded and wont turn out to well, Resistance will more than likely be real good. But on my other console i have gears and netflix, which is a huge deal. Especially since on demand doesnt have nearly as many movies as netflix. I gotta be honest when i 1st got 360 a couple of years ago i never though it would be doing all the things its doing meanwhile after having PS3 for 8 months I realized that not much is going on there. BLU-ray is way overhyped and overpriced..Almost $40 for new movies. and especially the older stuff your better off getting it on HD-DVD they are real cheap now.

when it came to showing something new - microsoft had a huge big FALE! i dont think they showed anything that no one knew was already coming out - nintendo showed some new stuff - crap - but new stuff

sony showed tons of new stuff at e3 - all microsoft did was do the mulipatform titles a favour by showing it at their show instead of the actual company behind it having to show it off

i agree with little big planet though - each show its been featured at, it manages to show more of the NEW features that media molecule are pouring into the game :D

I would have said the exact opposite. MAG was the only thing from Sony I didn't know about. And really that didn't show anything at all. I don't even know what type of game it is. Microsoft had the most surprises I think with Netflix, new arcade games, and the new interface (which I did know a little about). GTA for the DS was really the only surprising thing to me from Nintendo.

Microsoft has this silly idea that showing off games that will be playable in 6 months or less is a good idea. That's stupid right? I mean, I would much rather watch a 30 second tralier for a game coming in fall 09 than actual gamplay footage from a game coming in 3 months.

1. Fallout 3
2. Little Big Planet
3. Gears 2 and Fat Princess (tie)

Seriously I saw a lot of people who said they were disappointed with the Fallout 3 demo that was shown during Microsoft's conference...really?? I was blown away by how great it looked and played. Guess it must have been my inner Oblivion whore freaking out :-\

Was FarCry2 at the show? With everything that game is doing right, It seems like it would have at least been mentioned. And LBP does look like it will be fun, but I really cant see why there is so much hype for a game that is basically excite bike with sock puppets.
