Lionhead's head lion Peter Molyneux recently said in an interview with GameTrailers that it took three years to make Fable 2. We note this because in the same interview, he also talks about doing three more Fable games. "We've got plans for Fable 3, 4 and 5 actually," he said. "It's a big story arc and if you play Fable II you'll recognize things from Fable 1." Extrapolating on Fable 2's development time, expect to see the series continue in 2011, 2014 and 2017, respectively.
Additionally, Molyneux said that Lionhead is working on another, secret project that was the "kind of the result of an experiment that went incredibly well." He then went on to say that he likes projects that are challenging and made references to the sports genre, which may or may not indicate we'll see a fantasy RPG based on Brockian Ultra Cricket.
God Im sick of Molyneux spouting, Ive no respect for any games designer who cant code... on top of that, has anyone ever finished any of his crappy games... they all start out normally but meander away to boredom and grinding... Zzzz....
I think this game is supposed to be much longer. THen again it is supposed to be all about how you play it (I like to own the world, so it will take me a VERY long time ;-) But I believe I heard 12 hours if you rush through the main plot 40 if you do all the other stuff.
While he does tend to over hype them, pretty much everything he's made thus far has been really good, even if they didn't quite live up to expectations. And with Fable 2, he's completely avoided making any of these mistakes.
And grinding? I can only assume you've never actually played one of his games then?
@ Bigsofty Fable 1 and TLC were actually pretty good if you hadn't followed the hype. It's not because he can't code that you have to bash him, yea he's VERY ambitious but he's got good ideas in the end.
bigsofty have you ever played one of his "crappy" games? The fact that you use the term grinding and a lionhead study game in the same sentence tells me you have no idea what you are talking about. He may have over hyped his old games but hey Fable was a great game. Black and White 1 was a awesome game. He is trying to make games that have done things any one has yet to do. He could be out making crappy mmorpg's like every one and their mom is doing but instead he is trying to improve the market for RPG games and RTS games and some thing he is doing very well might I add.
I really like that he admits his mistakes. I really hope that Fable 2 is better.
I really liked the spells in Fable 1, too bad most of them are stripped away. Multi hit + slow time + assassins rush and finish it off with an AEO, fun as hell.
If i see one more video of the player character wearing that flamboyant pirate outfit im gonna cancel my preorder. On a serious note I really dont like the way they've said customization is gonna work, id like to have sliders for the face or at least a few choices, having the face change based on activity seems stupid.
