You can tell from my second statement , "Its someone who makes gaming their hobby, not just a pasttime.
2 hearts" that I was implying those games purchased would be played.

But let me be more specific for you.

Number of games bought and played to some degree of completion. Hardcore gamers do not buy shitty games, this is why the game market has remained healthy over the long haul beacuse hardcore gamers dictate which games are rewarded with good sales.

When you throw casual gamers who either dont know or dont care what a good game is, and they throw their money at random shit you start to see a decline in the quality of titles (as evidenced by the Wii).

When you no longer have the hardcore dictating which games are rewarded by passing word of mouth and increasing sales of good games you get a stagnant market which is influenced by the fotm gimmicks and liscenses. This is why Nintendo is abandoning the 'Core' gamer. They know the Core gamer has already abandoned them (but in all truth its beacuse of their actions during the previous 2 generations).

Anyways these terms are real, only a fanboy would pretend theirs no such thing as a casual or hardcore gamer just to attempt to prove their point.

When have I ever said I felt "abandoned" by nintendo? I'm laughing at all of you who are just now realizing they abandoned the real gamers, and laughing even harder at the few of you who keep getting pimpslapped by them and yet still continue to crawl back to them.

You know what I did years ago when I felt "abandoned" by nintendo? I didn't crawl back begging for more of them screwing me over, I dropped them faster than you could even think about it and didn't look back. Seeing the joke of a game company they've become 9 years later, they made it easy for me to never regret it.

Well I don't know what to do then. I can't help you with your reading comprehension. Maybe I'll write Nintendo and they can make Wii Read to help you out.

Well, you said it yourself. When it comes to gamers this guy probably has his head way up his ash.

Take it from me (a lifelong gamer & investor who's made a bundle on Nintendo already) this year Nintendo is going with it's strengths: it's going to be great if you own stock, not as great if you own a wii.

After understanding that they consider Link & Mario to be "hardcore" franchises, I don't even think they know what hardcore is.

But Zelda and Mario are core. How else do they wind up consistently being the top games in their genre every time they premier?

They're on top because those are the games they put allot of development in.
Sure it's a part of their "core audience" but that's almost completely separate from "hardcore" gamers.

If they can come up with a Link & Mario had games that's a bit more challenging, has some gore, and some real magic mushrooms they might be able to cover both bases.

It's all self perpetuating.
