Readers pick best webcomic: Waiting
Eliciting over 100 comments for the post, Scott Ramsoomair's "Waiting" VG Cats comic was certainly one of the more debated wins of the webcomic wrapup series.
Second and third place both go to 2P Start ("A Different Directive" and "Goomba vs. Roomba", respectively -- remember, we want you to vote for individual strips and not the webcomic series itself). A special nod goes to Monday Night Crew's George Carlin tribute. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

Potatomoto looks too much like reggie
Alzheimers @ Jul 30th 2008 11:32AM
Reggie...veggie...it's a visual pun.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Jul 30th 2008 11:39AM
Well... Not really seeing as the whole "Potatomoto" thing was already used before Nintendo hired Reggie.
Rollins @ Jul 29th 2008 11:18PM
And yet another unfunny VG Cats comic wins.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 29th 2008 11:57PM
I'm very sorry for your condition.
Being mildly retarded probably greatly affects your life every day.
You have my sympathy dear sir.
Joe @ Jul 30th 2008 12:23AM
15 panels to convey a joke.
FIFTEEN.
That's like Buckley in reverse- he can't write jokes so he pretends he's a great artist and draws an incessant amount of panels to mask the joke (which isn't even a joke, Nintendo-agnostics (can't really call them fanboys if they're ambivalent) have been talking about this since E3.
Obie @ Jul 30th 2008 1:23AM
"15 panels to convey a joke.

I think his pacing is good, it's like the awkward silences in "The Office". I like it better than "endless wall of rambling Text" aka CAD.
But that is just my personal preference of course. ;)

But he bashed Nintendo, which makes it okay in the eyes of Joystiq readers!
FOXHOUND @ Jul 30th 2008 7:18AM
The fact that you're bitching about 15 panels too long to make a joke about a comic that's making a joke about waiting...
...is the reason why I voted you down. ¬_¬
Alzheimers @ Jul 30th 2008 11:36AM
Another obligatory "How many panels did that joke take?!" link:

"But he bashed Nintendo, which makes it okay in the eyes of Joystiq readers!"
Look man, right now it's okay to bash Nintendo in the eyes of pretty much everyone but the most blindly loyal Nintendo zealot (read: you). The same was true of Sony just a year ago ($600 for a game console?). Face it, Nintendo's screwing up, and unless we, the gaming public, are vocal about it, they'll continue ignoring us and catering to guys like Ravi Drums.
Platinum_Skeet @ Jul 29th 2008 11:29PM
Hey I liked it... Even if the comics message was conveyed a while back with the PS3
giantenemycrab @ Jul 29th 2008 11:54PM
Vgcats was right on.
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:50AM
No it wasn't, it was utter garbage that won due to fan backlash.
Mr.ESC @ Jul 30th 2008 11:26AM
To be honest VGcats is funny most of the time but seriously why Slackerz is never in the list?
The E3 one was pretty damn funny.

BananaBoat @ Jul 29th 2008 11:58PM
VG cats comic basically sums up how I feel about Nintendo right now. I don't really point my anger at Miyamoto though since he isn't even anywhere close to being in charge of the company. If Nintendo goes to him and says "MAKE US A MUSIC GAME, SLAVE!" he pretty much has to do it (not saying they did that).
The Wii has turned into the dust gathering machine of choice for me. It sits there, with a sign hung around it's neck that says "Gone Fishing" and a little tri-force emblem at the bottom for a signature. Then again...it's already gotten infinitely more play time than my Gamecube ever did...so...I guess they're improving?
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:52AM
I'm sorry if you refuse to buy the little 3rd party games that are worth getting, helping further the decline of 3rd party attempt on the system just because you won't buy anything that isn't Final Fantasy or Halo or whatever.
Nintendo isn't abandoning us, stop acting like they are
MNC Dover @ Jul 29th 2008 11:59PM
Thanks for the nod.
Back to business as usual though. Our comic for this week isn't really game related, but does take a shot at the sports game fan.

WiiFTW @ Jul 30th 2008 12:03AM
I remember people saying that that comic was not subtle.
Just remember that Nintendo's E3 conference was not subtle in completely ignoring core gamers.
SkyTurnsRed @ Jul 30th 2008 12:16AM
Very true.
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:52AM
Oh for heaven sakes, shut the fuck up you melodramatic drama queen. And who are the fuckers who keep rating these comments up?
Hyams @ Jul 30th 2008 9:36AM
4MyFriends, I'm guessing it'll be the same people who are voting all your comments down.
ie. core gamers.
Brett from Atlanta @ Jul 30th 2008 12:36AM
Whether or not the comic s was right or wrong, it wasn't funny. Not any one of the three in the post were funny. It seems humor was recently buried along with nintendo's hardcore fan base ZING!
Gun Barrier (Gamer Tag) @ Jul 30th 2008 1:23AM
the forth special comic was funny. It was a stab at fanboys of all three consoles.
OneTopJob6 @ Jul 30th 2008 1:03AM
VGCats: Who needs talent when you can ride on Nintendo-hate for the next few weeks?
Obie @ Jul 30th 2008 1:21AM
I think the VG Cats guy is a big Nintendo fan. Heck, more than half of all his comics are Nintendo references. He chose to show his disappointment in his comic. Good for him.
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:54AM
He is more than welcome to show his disappointment, just make sure he don't forget to show the humor next time. Judging by reader response, sadly you don't even need to try so long as the point you failed to make is a popular one.
Korova *of the highlands* @ Jul 30th 2008 8:07AM
I didnt think it was funny, but it was poignant. It expressed the sullen humor of Ninendo fans, which takes talent.
That being said, I voted for goomba because it did the same thing but was also funny: a Nintendo character meets a household appliance, tries to do its thing, and gets bored - that's all Wii right there.
j.howlett @ Jul 30th 2008 9:55AM
i don't think you got the goomba roomba thing at all.
The Daymonster @ Jul 30th 2008 11:11AM
Hahaha, yeah he for sure didn't get the roomba goomba joke. See, when the roomba hits something it turns around, when a goomba hits something it turns around. Similar name similar speed and characteristics. The roomba wasn't bored.
Yawn @ Jul 30th 2008 1:14AM
I voted it because it was a good comic.
It wasnt a fun comic, but it was a good rage dump and a critic.
Kinda like"Hey look they are pissed of about nintendo I am pissed off too"
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:55AM
"I voted it because it was a good comic."
IT WASN'T A GOOD COMIC, HOW MANY TIMES MUST PEOPLE TELL YOU THAT. If this comment wasn't blatant Nintendo hatred, none of you bandwagon haters would had voted for it.
Chase @ Jul 30th 2008 3:54AM
4MyFriends needs to stop posting or find something it enjoys in life. To take a web comic so seriously is very pathetic.
4MyFriends @ Jul 30th 2008 3:57AM
You need to shut the fuck up. You guys are welcome to vent your anger at Nintendo, I'm more than welcome to do the same for the exaggerated and overly dramatic "NINTENDO IS KILLING DA INDUSTRY" responses.
Chase @ Jul 30th 2008 3:59AM
Wow, are you actually stalking this post? O_O; I'm replying to an e-mail and receive an alert that you replied to my comment. That's just sad. You have my pity.

No, I actualy wasn't stalking this post. I just woke up 10 minutes ago, saw this whole article, decided I wanted to make a few replies and in the middle of it I get your "WOW STFU, STOP TAKING SHIT SERIOUSLY" when in fact I'm not.

Another shit VGCats comic wins, what a surprise.
dmg @ Jul 30th 2008 5:16AM
I really hope you're just trolling, because even the biggest VG cats haters couldn't be this pissed off. Unless you're both a raging VG Cats hater AND a Nintendo fan boy who can't watch their beloved company let them down so you just reassure yourself that they're not leaving the core audience.
muffinlad @ Jul 30th 2008 5:40AM
4MyFriends likes men, nuff said
Ignatius @ Jul 30th 2008 10:01AM
Just because he's a douchebag doesn't make him homosexual.
Oi vei...
j.howlett @ Jul 30th 2008 11:10AM
sexual orientation has nothing to with this, but assuming the poster is male or is opposed to liking men has nothing to do with it either
Sheppy (of the Fidlious Clan of Wong) @ Jul 30th 2008 7:40AM
As this thread went up yesterday... I said to Fernando Rocker, "Oh good, watch this thread... 4My Friends is gonna lose his shit here." He and I shared a laugh and I was hoping to be proven wrong. Some part of me was begging to be proven wrong... that sliver of hope that still dreams for a better tomorrow.
4MyFriends, you've crushed that dream and all the childlike innocense my world view once held. There is no Santa Claus, only pedophiles. That's what you've done to me. Happy?
Korova *of the highlands* @ Jul 30th 2008 8:11AM
God, the internets can be so cruel to emotion.

mj @ Jul 30th 2008 9:01AM
I'm so confused.
I thought this one was about SONY.
Wiinterfang @ Jul 30th 2008 9:11AM
This comic only wins because it's now popular to bash sonic thus proven that while the E3 it's still a shadow of it's former self, still is the most important videogame even as a bad presentation on it can cost the publisher bad.
last year Sony, this year nintendo.
Wiinterfang @ Jul 30th 2008 9:11AM
