We already know that Nintendo DS is taking up residence in Liberty City thanks to GTA: Chinatown Wars, but what about GTA on Wii? Reggie wants it, gamers want it, but will Take-Two ever deliver? Speaking to GameDaily about any such plans, Take-Two CEO Ben Feder had this to say: "We know the Wii pretty well. We're building up assets to develop for the Wii and we're excited about its growth," but added, "I can't comment on GTA specifically on the Wii."
Something about another of Feder's comments seemed vaguely familiar when compared to those of Nintendo's Fils-Amie, who's said he'd welcome a GTA game on Wii as long as it's developed specifically for the platform. "Our goal is to be the most creative and innovative company in the industry," Feder said, further explaining, "You don't get there by just porting and dumping games on the shelves. You get there by looking at the platform and creating games specifically for that platform." Sure sounds like what Reggie's asking for to us.

Just go the lazy route and just port over the 3 GTA games from last gen with waggle or something, just don't forget the IR aiming. It worked for RE4.

Reggie was having a direct stab at the 3rd parties dumping last gen games without any effort. Games like Zelda and RE4 at least had upgraded controls and graphics, but 99% are crap. I've still managed to find 11 excellent Wii games to own without buying Galaxy, Mario Kart, SSBB, Geometry Wars, No More Heroes and Battalion Wars, on top of my 12 downloaded games and 13 GC games. I'm very picky on my game quality and i dont buy minigame compilations so i think there are plenty of excellent Wii games, but for some reason most gamers can't see it.

I didn't MIND Manhunt 2, but, it could have been graphically better.

I just beat GTA4 lst night. Last mission was really not that tough. But the end was still pretty sweet.

Make it look like the cartoony box art all the GTA games have and I'll buy it.

Ok carjack car, unplug nunchuck and attach WiiWheel.
Drive car and then hop out, remove WiiWheel and then pick up baseball bat in the game. Add WiiMotionPlus for 1:1 baseball bat control.
Oops picked up an assault rifle, unplug MotionPlus and attach WiiMote to Zapper for good ol' gunplay.
Oh yeah, don't forget about the hidden sex minigame that makes great use of the BalanceBoard.

I shudder to think what Rockstar would have to axe graphically to make this even close to playable on the Wii.

They aren't talking about GTA IV, Reggie wants an original story, not a port.

Ah, thats what I get for not RTFA. Still...it would take some artistic and technical pizazz to pull off a sandbox game on Wii just based on previous attempts.

In terms of power, Wii > Xbox, and the Xbox did the GTA sandboxes very well. (Didn't say PS2 because while the PS2 did do them well too, the Xbox versions had better draw distance and everything)
