With excitement still brewing for the upcoming GlaDOS-free follow up to Portal, developer Valve has come forward, throwing its considerable weight behind Xbox Live Arcade while adding that the company is 'considering' bringing other titles from its catalog to the service as well. Says Valve's Doug Lombardi, "We'll certainly consider it. If you look at what we've done on Steam, we try to make all our games available and we're always reviewing the prices to keep them current. We'd love to do that, but Portal: Still Alive is our first step at doing that beyond the PC."
While Lombardi adds that the studio currently has no "immediate plans" to test the waters of either the Wii or PlayStation 3, this remains great news for owners of Microsoft's console, possibly giving those who missed Valve's boat the first time around a second chance to climb on board.

they are making a remake of HL1, it's called The Black Mesa Mod, hopefully due out this year or next. It's basically the graphics of HL2 Ep1 for HL1, and it's free if you have HL of course. I can see this coming to console, it would easily show what so many gamers have missed over the years...

@ Mr.ESC
Black Mesa has been in development for the last four years. It's pretty much the DNF of Mods.

Yeah I downloaded the leaked version (just to test it out, of course) and there isn't that much completed...There is probably 15% of the levels made, without any NPCs or scripts. Most of the weapons are finished, but not all of them (and some of them don't work).
To be honest, Black Mesa Source looks dead, and they haven't released anything new in a long time.

They are even porting the Source Engine to the Wii, but I can't find the link.
Gabe Newell actually prefer the Wii over the PS3 and in the past months, he said he wanted to do a Wii game.

I'd be up for HL and any of it's expansions on XBLA. Not quite sure CS:Source would fit the constraints of the XBLA but CS 1.6 might haha.

Half-Life Source...not a very good game.
It does sound pleasantly like Valve has come to a detente with Microsoft though. Valve pretty much owns their own side of the street (PC) and Microsoft owns theirs (Xbox). Microsoft admitted as much when Live went free on PC. I wonder if we'll see Steam and Live features intertwine in some way (Steam achievements = Live achievements).

Didn't much care for Halo 3 either.
I stand by my comments on Half Life: Source, but I am looking forward to Black Mesa: Source. Hopefully it will be what Half Life: Source wasn't.

Yes, in part. It feels old in a lot of ways. I'm hoping that they modernize some of the other things about it that annoyed me as well (mainly the jumping, fuck jumping puzzles).

I hope Valve brings Audiosurf and those TF2 achievements to the xbox live.

Audiosurf is only sold on Steam, Valve don't own any licenses for it. So it's really up to Dylan Fitterer, the guy who made it. I think I remember something about him being interested in XBLA some time ago though.
As for the TF2 achievements, maps and so on; last I heard Microsoft wouldn't let Valve give them out free, and the achievements would interfere with the system they already have.

Much love for Valve but they need to get to work on updating their engine. It's really starting to show on Left 4 Dead. The game isn't even out yet and it looks a bit dated.

I felt the same exact way about Left 4 Dead. When I saw what they had at E3 though, I thought it looked a lot better. Check out Valves event if you haven't already. Starting at around 6 minutes in, and especially the end part showing one of the new character models at about 7:30. I still get the Source vibe, but it's looking a lot better than earlier videos.

I imagine that after HL2 Ep3, Valve will get to work on a new engine, although it would be a good idea to have it coincide with the next generation of consoles so it could be 3-5 years away yet.
I assume during this time they'll keep the fans happy with free new content for TF2 and L4D.

PS3 owner? I don't think you'll have much of a choice anyway.
