HAWX grounded until 2009
Ubisoft has shot down plans to release Tom Clancy's Ace Combat HAWX in September. The flight combat game will instead take to the skies in early 2009, according to a report by CVG, which also states that no reason for the delay was given. Online retailers have updated to reflect the change, with GameStop listing the new date as January 6. This news comes just one day after Ubisoft announced a delay for its WWII-era FPS, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. That game, which had originally been slated for an August 29 on-sale date, will hit one month later on September 26.

That sucks CAWX!
(Also I psychically knew Joystiq would say it be grounded when I read the story first on X3F).
Titanium_Orchid @ Jul 30th 2008 6:18PM
To bad the original release date was FAUX, at least now I can save money to buy new SOX.
Neebs @ Jul 30th 2008 6:51PM
Dude, I think you made a typo there.
Don't you mean SAWX?
EliteBeatsAgent08 @ Jul 30th 2008 4:25PM
This RAWX since I already have enough games to last me until the end of 08...
I wonder how it will stack up to Ace Combat 6?

Hopefully they'll use some of the time to make more (and better) sound effects than the two different beep tones they have and the female Microsoft Text-to-Speech voice saying "Warning. Warning. Warning."
...So far, I don't think I could play the game without being irritated by those stupid sounds (or annoying my roommates with them).

Dude, I love the irritating beeps! Besides, what kind of missile warning do you want? "Excuse me, it would seem you are being tra- Ah, nevermind. Your tail structure has just exploded." For some reason, I imagined that in GLaDOS's voice. She'd be an AWESOME on-board computer.

Probably trying to figure out how to get the graphics to fit on the Xbox360.
Duke @ Jul 30th 2008 5:36PM
Is someone a little desperate to attack the 360 today?

Well if you use GTA4 as an example of its poor streaming capabilities, its really not that hard to grasp or understand.

Thats on a slow paced car simulator, with the graphics really dumbed. Imagine trying to get a fast paced air combat game to work where you are actively texturing the ground environments. They would have to do like Ace Combat and flatten the textures and remove environments like large buildings and mountains for fast paced combat.

When ever I see the title, I always reference Tony Hawk.
Shawn @ Jul 30th 2008 5:21PM
and there's another delay..
uh-oh polio @ Jul 30th 2008 5:31PM
this better have cockpit view or else im not buying it.
Duke @ Jul 30th 2008 5:36PM
Releasing games on time is so 2004. All the cool kids delay at last 2 or 3 times.
MarkHawk @ Jul 30th 2008 6:19PM
It's very rare that I am disappointed in a company doing the responsible thing and delaying a game. Im looking forward to this so taking the time do iron it out more seems great.
Keeko_ca @ Jul 30th 2008 6:41PM
I've always saw this game as a quick way to further cash in on the city generating engine they used in both Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six.
...well, with the delay announcement, maybe it's not so quick anymore.
rdj75 @ Jul 30th 2008 8:46PM
Damn, I was so looking forward to playing this game, oh well.
JoeTheBlow @ Jul 31st 2008 3:34AM
Another lesson learned from the Haze & Alone in the Dark disasters.
Rush your game=gigantic IP-destroying flop
Rocket Taco @ Aug 1st 2008 4:54AM
I know I'm late to comment, but I'm still waiting for the day they give us a console flight simulator that's actually, you know, a SIMULATOR. Even vaguely so would be nice.
Oh and to the guy who complained about the warning noises: aircraft warnings are pretty monotonous.
kyle575 @ Aug 21st 2008 4:51PM
DELAYED UNTIL 2009!?!? U CANT BE SERIOUS!!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY THAT GAME ANYMORE!!!!!!
