This might be an odd question-- not knowing where you are in relation to the southern border-- but wouldn't it be easier for you to buy points cards from US stores, taking advantage of the value differential? Or are the cards region-locked (which would be more than a little silly)?

I do sympathize with your plight-- lived near Buffalo for a long time, and in better times I took trips up to Niagara Falls to take advantage of the exchange rate there.

Disregard the first part of my comment-- the cards are region-specific. Which, as I said, is more than a little silly.

I still stand by my expression of regret at your plight, though.

Really? 1800 points? That's just awkward.

And Braid... I've been waiting for this game a couple years solely based on Hellman's art. A Lesson Is Learned But The Damage is Irreversible is the best web comic EVER.

Castle Crashers takes 5 to 6 hours to finish and has the most unbelieveable amount of unlockables and extras. It's practically a game which you'd buy in the store for 60$ but it's being sold online for 22$.

Insomniac is a company of 180+ employees while The Behemoth is a company of practically two. Also Castle Crashers has definitely more content and replayability, you can't compare the two.

Uh, yes I can compare them

"Insomniac is a company of 180+ employees while The Behemoth is a company of practically two. Also Castle Crashers has definitely more content and replayability"

The Behemoth is about 6 as far as I know. Anyway, The Behemoth is a small studio so their game must be a bit pricier (but then again, just look at Everyday Shooter), the fact that there are over 180+ people (according to you) working for Insomniac means that the game should be more expensive, since they are professionals and they have to also pay for many more things.

We can argue about the time needed to finish the game, the main quest for Castle Crashers is at around 5 hrs too.

You want to talk about unlockables and all, but also take in mind that R&C: Quest for Booty looks as amazing as Tools of Destruction....

Well, like the poster on Kotaku said, think it was Fahey, some of these games are of better quality than a couple of games that I actually bought for 60$ at retail, so it is not such a big deal for me. And at least you get the chance to demo all of them prior to buying them, which is not a chance you got for all the retail games.

Castle Crashers is a definite purchase, I'm just happy if it means more money in the coffers of Dan Paladin and co. Braid is a strong possibility, but maybe a couple of weeks later.

I played Assassin's Creed, Burnout, and CoD4 for free because they came on a physical disc that I could borrow. $22.50 for a download only game that I can't sell, trade, or loan is bullshit.

If you wait long enough, new games eventually drop to $20-30. There is no chance in hell I will be buying this game.

So you like to borrow, rent or buy games at discount after a time, while I like to buy them, usually when they come out (except for the collection of retro games obviously). I don't mind paying full price, I don't mind encouraging people who make games by contributing to their paycheck either, even if that means putting money in Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo's pocket.

Personally, I'm not seeing any bullshit in that, I just have a totally different point of view.

In the end, it all comes down to the personal propensity to spend on video games.

On the other hand, I usually make sure I'm not paying for a shitty game before buying it, either by playing a demo or gathering information from people I know and trust, because I don't like to throw money away either, I just have a different amount of money that I'm willing to spend on them.

Considering Portal sells alone for $20 on the PC, most people would guess a 20-30 price range. PC games tend to be cheaper, so one would asume the XBLA title might be more.

I'm not buying any of these. I was considering Braid, but maybe with a price drop. Either that or it'll have to be one hell of an impressive demo/trial.

It doesn't make sense to charge more than 1600 points for any game. Is Joe Consumer truly going to buy two MS Points cards for one game, knowing they'll have 1400 points remaining?

So, Bionic Commando Rearmed is looking great!

All joking aside, I'll need a lot of convincing before I spend $22.50 on a non-physical copy of a game that I can't re-sell in a genre that I usually become bored with in 3-4 quarters worth of arcade time. Hurrah for trials!

What is wrong with you people????

"This game sucks" "It has snes graphixs""Thats too much"

Had this game really come out for the SNES it would cost 50 dollars and you guys wouldnt say a damn thing. But since its $23 with online play, and achivements, now its overpriced?? Give me a break. They didnt take 5 weeks to make this game you know.

I think its worth it, because after paying 50 dollars for the karate kid for my NES, no game will EVER be overpriced.

In conclusion: Dont like it, dont buy it - you idiots!

You know that especial feeling when you really feel like arguing or fighting with someone for not apparent reason, well I fell like it right now so what the hell let’s make a close examination of your post.

-"This game sucks"

R-No one said it sucks, is overpriced but that doesn’t mean is bad

-"It has snes graphixs"

R-Not even SotN on the Psone looks as polished so I would say Gamecube at least. Oh yeah bonus points for using internet slang to make all comments sound retarded, very original.

-"Thats too much"

R-1800 points is well if you can afford Video games every week you can buy it but that doesn’t mean you have to. If you like it but you don’t feel like paying 1800p give it a few months and you can get it at a better price. You know when nobody cares.

-Had this game really come out for the SNES it would cost 50 dollars and you guys wouldnt say a damn thing.

R- No because in that case it would’ve been the game with the best graphics in the system.

-But since its $23 with online play, and achivements, now its overpriced??

R- Achievements should never ever be a point in any argument unless of course you want to lose the argument. N+ managed to pull out the same stuff and they are not charging 1800 points.1200 would be a more tolerable price since okay they manage to improve their art this time around but Yes, it is overpriced.

-Give me a break. They didnt take 5 weeks to make this game you know.

R-What are you saying other developers created their games in 5 weeks? (That would explain Guitar Hero Aerosmith tho’) Yes we know they didn’t since they delayed the game for a year.

-I think its worth it, because after paying 50 dollars for the karate kid for my NES, no game will EVER be overpriced.

R-First I feel so sorry for you, second lol

-In conclusion: Dont like it, dont buy it - you idiots!

R-The guy who bought Karate kid for 50$ (If only your parents had bough it for you then this shouldn’t be a problem) is calling some group of people (To obscure to tell) idiots for some videogame discussion.

Wasn't particularly following this game to begin with, but I certainly won't go near it at this price point. Not really understanding why people are throwing the blame at Microsoft though, they aren't publishing it, and have nothing to do with setting the pricing for these games.

Blame the publishers, they've clearly seen how popular it is, and decided they can charge more for it.

I was fully prepared to buy CC, but now I have my doubt. The demo will get its share playing through before I kick out the bucks for the full $22.50 version. Long development cycle + over-hype (thx joystiQ)= too much at the register. Now I am kinda glad I didn't buy those bitching CC Knight figurines.

Games shouldn't cost more depending on how good they are, if that were the case we'd all be paying $100 for AAA titles like Bioshock, Halo 3 etc.

Wow.... castle crashers can go F*** themselves if they think I'm paying 1800 MS points for an Xbox Live Arcade game. If I want 4 player multiplayer I'll buy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to get my fix.... for 1400 MS points less!!!!!!!!!

That price point is really going to cost them.'

to which I replied:

'You stole the words right out of my mouth.

Hell I picked up Gauntlet when it was on sale for 200 points, and that's *also* 4 player compatible.

I believe Streets of Rage and Golden Axe are 3 player.

If Castle Crashers was 1200 points ($15), it would be higher than I'd like, but I'd still buy it and play it over Live 'cause I'm sure it will be fun. But over $20 is preposterous.'

Castle Crashers went to a day one buy for me to a "wait til it's on the 1/2 price list" buy.

Ugh. I was planning to buy Castle Crasher's at release but at $20 I'll hold off until some reviews start coming in. It better get darn good reviews and provide at least 10-12 hours of gameplay for that price.

A) People crying about 'M$' - Microsoft is not the one setting the price. Get a grip.
B) To the people crying that 'x' game is too much. Buy it, ingore it or GTFO.
C) To people that think this is the end of DLC game, please get a grip. This is a step that had to be taken if the DLC game service was ever going to get beyond 'arcade' games. Better games deserve more money? Don't like it? Then don't buy it and maybe the price will come down.
