It might be a little too early to breathe a sigh of relief, but things could be looking up for Castle Crashers and Braid. Both were recently listed on the official Japanese Xbox 360 blog for the relatively high prices of 1800 ($22.50) and 1200 ($15.00) points respectively. According to Shacknews, Microsoft has denied these prices, noting that they are "incorrect for both domestic and international markets." Microsoft adds that the official prices will be revealed on the Mondays before Braid and Castle Crashers release dates, which are August 4 and 25 respectively.
You can all put your torches and pitchforks away ... for now.

Tell that to Tim Schaefer. Im sorry but I honestly think that castle crashers is going to be worth a premium. Its very rare to find a developer like the behemoth and they have my support both vocally and financial. As gamers we should help support this sort of creativity and originality, they took a big risk to make this game, I hope that they reap the rewards.

yeah value and cheap are to differnt things. I dont get paid much at my job, but $100 is not exactly months of savings to me. I can easily afford a $100 video game. But I would never buy one.
Just because something is affordable doesnt mean not buying it because its priced to high means your cheap.

Wow, I would have paid the 1800 points but it's great to know that the price will be lower.

So okay, this week in XBLA news we were given love, love was stripped from us, and now love has returned. I'm left shuddering in the corner, hoping the love remains. I hate abusive relationships.

Hahaha! We'll see how "incorrect" those prices are when it comes down to it.
On a side note, I haven't seen any posts under the "X3F Staff" name. Are things returning to normal?! :)

This is how they get you with the XBLA titles, I buy nearly all video games used for around 20 bucks, but without a game disc they can charge 22.50 for a game and no matter how long I wait it will stay that price.

The prices won't be higher, but I can see CC being 1600, which I will gladly pay.

all these years of hearing about CC I never even considered the possibility of it being more then 800 ms points. I always told myself it looks semi fun for a while with no replay value and MIGHT be worth the 800 points (need to try a demo). Now I hear its gonna be more then 800 points, I dont even want to bother playing the demo.
As for braid. Does that have a level editor in it? if so, Im all over it, no matter how the game is. If not, Ill probably pass if its more then 400 points (which it will be).
Im just the type of person who loves replayablitiy in my games. I really dont enjoy buying any game, no matter how good it is and 2-3 days later having no desire to play it for the rest of my life because I beat it.

*Puts away pitchfork* Good, I really want to play Castle Crashers but 1800 points was just too much for an XBLA game.

If you paid $67.50 for 5 great games, when you might spend $60.00 + tax for a mediocre one...

I love how the people that think its too much attack the people that said they would pay.
If you think its too much money then don't fucking pay and shut up about it. $20 OH NO its too expensive! 5 dollars less and its fine WAHHH!
Anyway, instead of bitching on sites about price exercise what companies actually care about....your dollars. That sends a much better message than bitching and moaning to anyone unfortunate to listen.

It costs me $60 for 3,000 points. There's a clear reason why I'm not going to pay for that.

I think the problem with castle Crashers isn't that fans of the game won't buy it.. it's getting their friends to also pay up for the game. The less expensive a game is, the more people will buy it... if it's good. The higher the price, the fewer people you can expect to pay up.

Just as long as neither of these games have weird prices like 1800, I'm good. ($22.50 is kind of an odd spend, y'know?) I can do 1600 or 2000 ($20/$25)

After watching a few videos, I think Castle Crashers will have more longevity. The content (i.e., animal orbs, weapons) and multiplayer make for a much more complete experience; whereas Braid seems like it may get a bit more repetitious far sooner. I would purchase Castle Crashers for up to 1200 points. A price higher than 1200 points would require the reviews of specific people, and further research.
