Definitely will buy this game tomorrow. The demo was addicting.

I actually thought the demo was pretty lame. Which is disappointing, considering how much I liked PixelJunk Monsters. Even in co-op, there just wasn't enough variety. It just got old swinging around fast, and I had no ambition to continue on after I played through the demo.

Yeah, I didn't like the demo either. Made an American account just to get it, and.. overhyped as usual.

I also liked the demo but is this game going to cost $60? I don't think it's worth that much...

Oh no. No Gold Trophy? What will we ever do... Oh wait... Trophies = Pointless. Oh well. EMOFEST, free razor blades to anyone who really cares about it.

Maybe the Gold Trophies are secret.

...they probably come with the add-on content to inevitably be released in a couple months. and if that's the case, that explains the lack of a Platinum trophy as well.

I love this game. I really wish that if Sony is going to take some cues from the Xbox Live service, they take their "every game has a demo" doctrine. I'd probably buy more of their downloadable games that way.

I just couldn't get into this.
Maybe i was swept up in the hype but i was expecting soemthing much more than random jumping about.

I'll have another go of the demo, but for now i feel like the guy in a movie theatre showing Superbad, wondering what the hell everyone else is laughing about.

The demo for this is truely awesome. It takes a while to get into the controls, but once you're over that initial barrier the game is amazing.

Ok, I guess I'll put this here too.

The thing is, under the hood there's a point system for the different
levels of trophies. A PSN game can only have so much upon release, and
then so much for an add-on. PJ Eden clearly needed more trophies. More
trophies = lower levels for each one.

That's why PJE w/o any expansion has 20 different trophies, while
SSDHD only had 12.

Let me do a further breakdown:

SSDHD: 7 Bronze, 4 Silver, One Gold
PJE - 19 Bronze, One Silver
SSDHD 1st expansion - 2 Bronze, 2 Silver
SSDHD 2nd expansion - One Gold

Now, let's apply a point value for each one, for argument's sake.

We'll say Bronze = 1, Silver = 2, and Gold = 6. Let's look at it
keeping that in mind.

SSDHD - 21
PJE - 21
SSDHD 1st expansion - 6
SSDHD 2nd expansion - 6

That make sense?

For verification, let me also post the response I got when I put this
post on the PlayStation.Blog:

"Dulan Cuthbert replied on July 31, 2008 at 12:47 am
Yes, that’s roughly the theory behind it.
We give you the same amount of experience points but with more
trophies rather than just having a handful of trophies that are gold
or silver. We have to choose how to spread the experience points but
in the end the player gets the same amount total."

I think they really shouldn't put trophies in add-ons. Or at least make it so that they wouldn't affect the overall percentage.

Neptune - unfortunately, that wouldn't really work. People would bitch if there *weren't* any trophies in the new content, and if they didn't add to your experience total then they wouldn't do anything.

I don't think it's a bad thing at all, after all, the guy who buys 6 games will have more trophies than the guy who buys one. It's the same for expansions, just think of them as mini-games that happen to require the purchase of a different game first.

Yes, if you want every trophy, you'll have to buy every game and every expansion. Removing trophies from expansions wouldn't make it any less a money-hungry past-time.
