Rumor: Wal-Mart spotted selling 60GB Xbox 360
41
If your lack of hard drive space and your lack of patience have finally combined into a boiling, fist-shaking rage, you'd best give your local Wal-Mart a call. An X3F tipster by the name of Gerald already snapped -- and snapped up? -- one of those newfangled 60 gigglebyte Xbox 360 models ahead of their August launch. The Roanoke, Virginia store allegedly has four units in stock, but perhaps you'll find more at a different branch. If not, there's always Target.

Hmm..So the best buy by your house is an indication of whats happening with hardware sales in the U.S. The tons of ps3s at all the local stores around me not to mention the hundreds being sold right now on ebay says otherwise.

Will there be one of these stories every day?
Most of us don't even live near Roanoke, Virginia.

Obligatory "NINTENDO HATES HARDCORE GAMERS" comment, because every joystiq article needs one.

Not that i particularly want to feed you, but i even think that that has blown over somewhat. Sentiments toward Nintendo were relatively positive even today. I expected that whole post about Nintendo's q1 earnings to be filled with hate about how much of that money came from "the lemmings," but aside from the usual old Nintendo trolls (who got downvoted in the stream), most of the remarks were either congratulatory, or at least optimistic about the platform, albeit cautiously, given what we know now.
It's *almost* as if the storm has blown over somewhat. Cool it. Pre-emptive counter-trolling is just trolling in the end. Like how pre-emptive defensive warfare is really just aggressive warfare with a nice coat of paint

Join the JPAG group on Facebook. I am interested to learn of your age, as you surely aren't an adult (or human, for that matter).

BTW what do people think of SCIV!? I happen to like it a lot so far. Great controls in my opinion and the characters are tight as hell (except the Star Wars shit).

What the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING in this article?

Are there stand-alone 60G drives too?

The 60GB HD will be sold as a stand-alone in a few months.

My sentiments exactly...I'm not going to run out and buy another 360 (already have two) just to get moar space. But the price point on a standalone 60GB drive would definitely hit a better price point for my budget than the 120GB.

Will someone open one of these up already? They've been on store shelves for two days now? I just want some confirmation from a few people of what kind of mobo is in them.

I can 100% verify that Walmart* has the 60GB models in stock right now. I was the one who put them in the cases this morning at my store. :)

I was at GameStop today and they had 60GB ones for sale.

Yeah, the Wal-Mart in Gainesville on Archer has a few 360s with the 60GB.

I don't mean to flame, but exactly how many SKUs, past and present, does this make?
I'm having some trouble trying to recall them all.
Original Core, Premium, Arcade, Elite, and now Core 60? Or am i missing some?

The end is nigh, it looks like season 2 of Heroes is going to fill up my 20gb.
So if a poor sap like myself does buy a larger hard drive, I'm guessing there is no way to migrate all my goodies over?
Is there? Sniffle...

Do my eyes deceive me or do I see 299.99 price tag?
Posted: Jul 30th 2008 10:36PM MSUHitman said
My local Best Buy in south St. Louis county also has the 60GB on the shelf. They are on a high shelf while the old 20GB models are on the bottom. The only price tag is for the 20GB so I don't know if you can get the 60GB for $300 or not.

The new system SKU isn't street dated, so there shouldn't be a surprise that they are being sold.

Seriously, I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It's only a bloody hard drive. 120 GB XB360 HDDs have been available for ages. We don't get worked up when Seagate brings out a new HDD with 3 times more capacity than one older version and half the capacity of another. Well, not the well-adjusted among us...

But 20GB was enough right?
Oh the irony.
