Update: It looks like the high prices of Braid and Castle Crashers are "incorrect" according to Microsoft. Click here for the full story.
If you're anything like us you stocked up on MS Points in preparation for August's extensive XBLA release list. With releases like Galaga Legions, Braid and Castle Crashers around the corner it looks like it's going to be a good time for the Arcade. There is some potential bad news however, the Summer of Arcade is going to missile-dropkick your wallet.
According to the official Japanese Xbox 360 blog, Braid (August 6) lists a purchase price of 1200MS Points ($15 US), while the highly anticipated Castle Crashes clocks in at a hefty 1800MS Points ($22.50 US) -- making it the most costly XBLA title to date.
While these prices have only been set for the Japanese market, readers should keep in mind that prices are generally the same in Europe and North America. While -- based on hands-on impressions of both titles -- we can't wait to play Braid and Castle Crashers, we wonder if anyone feels too burned to throw down $37.50 (US) for a pair of Arcade releases.
Galaga Legions and Bionic Commando: Rearmed are both priced at 800MS Points each.

O.O oh my god that game is 1800 points?!?!?! Are they insane? I'm all for trying before I judge but I refuse to pay that much for a arcade game I just can't justify it.

I think some people are missing the point,
The game is 1800 point but, to buy it you have to get the 2000 point pack ($25) or 2 1600 point cards ($40)
Nether being $22.50 or what ever the random price point is.
And to that, and not the price because to be honest this game looks better than most retail games, I say FUCK that and Microsoft Points all together.
Now excuse my French

Awww crap, its starting to look like I'm only going to get Bionic Commando Rearmed. Twenty and fifteen bucks just seem like a little too much for an XBLA game. I think I'll wait for them to be entered into the XBLA hits program.

I don't mind paying extra but 1800 points seems like an odd price point. Why not do it at 1600 Points? ($20) That way people without credit cards can just buy 1600 Point cards and get the game. At 1800, it forces the buyer to get more points then they desire. This is often the case when getting 800 Point games, but then again ... those are half the price. It's strange .... we wait and wait and wait for Castle Crashers, then they bash you over the head with the oddest price point XBLA has ever seen.

I was all lined up to buy both Braid and Castle Crashers. I would have stretched to 1200 points, *maybe*.
Now, not so much.
Unless, of course, they have different prices on US release...

Isn't it quite possible that it could be priced differently for Japan and America? Just a thought to get some people's hopes up lol.
