Wow, how long have we waited to write that headline? 100 years? 150? Even now as the momentous day has arrived, it still puzzles us that we had to wait so long for the reigning king of dual-stick shooters to return to us. C'mon guys, you just bump all the sliders from 8 to 10, it's not rocket science.

In case you've forgotten, your 800 point purchase is going to net you a "remixed" version of the first game and five new modes: Waves, Pacifism, King, Deadline and Sequence. Also: 4-player multiplayer locally. Now, seriously ... what are you still doing reading this?

where's that 360 remote download service rolling out?

Well, I'm still waiting for my 360 to come back from Microsoft...

i just sent mine out yesterday :( :(

Look at it this way, after it comes out of its coffin, it'll be ripped-and-ready to go for long hours of GW2. :D

My 360 is in that special place in Texas if you know what I mean...

It sucks that the game doesn't have online play, but still, great fun!

I'm sure online-freaks would love to have seen that option in GW2, but fact is online doesn't work in twitch shooters, especially not one as crowded and crazy as GW(2). Even a few tenths of a second of lag would be fatal once the action heats up; you'd never be able to get anywhere in the game because something would ram you and kill you, and you wouldn't even know it happened until well after the fact...

Anyway, GW2 is a tired remake of the original. It's prettier and flashier, but the problems with the first are still there, including the screen getting so full of junk that you can't tell what's going on and then you die, and repetition - which sets in QUICKLY now, so long after the first game came out. There's only so many times you can shoot the same baddies made out of 6 straight lines and not be bored out of your skull...

Besides, this one's twice as expensive as the original and not nearly twice as fun. Bit of a bummer IMO. I bought it, but I won't play it much I fear.

I like it, but it really sucks you can't upgrade your weapons, major bummer. :(

I still can't get any achievements in the first one...

The best way to get good is to try for the Pacifism achievement. Seriously, as strange as it sounds, just trying to evade for 60 seconds really helps you understand how the baddies move and how to avoid them.

I unlocked King before I had to go to work this morning; really digging it, though I wish there were an option to disable unlimited lives in Deadline. I realize that the longer you stay alive, the more time you have to kill stuff, but it just feels too easy after having such steep death penalties in the original.

17 million is already my highscore. To think, I couldn't break a million in the original.

Never bought the first one. I guess if this technically has the original, sold!

I'm ticked I had a good run broke 1 million while on my friends gt got a whole bunch of acheivments and ever since then I can not get past 1000 anymore....

You think 18,000GS is high? Check others on this site. Mine is chump change. lol Oh and yes I like to play at least 2 hours avg a day. One hour right after work and one or 2 at night with mah buddies if they're on.

this being my 3rd repair they're already talking about giving me freebies. Hell I just hope this repair around I get an Opus system; I found the piece of stickers inside of my machine two weeks ago from looking through the vents with a flashlight to see if *it* was an Opus system (and it wasn't).

If you had literally had 23 repairs, I think they would've given you a new system and probably a new home theater setup to go with it. Hell maybe even a real life Warthog or something. =) LOL

Considering I just got a 360 like a week ago and only have a GS of like 600, yes, I think 18,000 is high. Most of my irl friends only have like 9,000GS, too.

zero2dash- Microsoft gives out free 1 months of XBL if you complain about "not having your system while it's repaired.". My friend actually complained a bit and got that along with PGR4 for free when he sent his unit in. Just an fyi.

Yeah, repair #2 gave me a free 1 month of Live card that I still haven't scratched yet since I had to send it back immediately for repair #3.

Initially I was told they'd give me a free wireless controller; this was by a "grunt" (level 1 support staff). I have been talking to an "elite" (level 4 support, apparently the highest there is) and told he'll "offer me some things to make me a happy 360 gamer again". I'm hoping for a year of Live + a (large) MS points card as minimums considering neither of which will cost them any $, since TECHNICALLY I'm giving it right back to them the minute I re-up for another year of Live and I go buy my XBLA titles (like GW2).

It will be mine as soon as I get home from work.

OMFG, this game looks INSANE.

4 Player looks like it could be hard to follow. Cool though.

Pacifism is AWESOME.

38mil top score on that so far.

The king of two-stick shooters? I thought that was Robotron...oh wait, now I remember, people don't like games with 8-bit graphics =P

All that aside, Geometry Wars is an amazing game, well worth the cost, and I really can't wait for the PC version to come out. No XBox here :(

Plus you can't shoot any direction in Robotron.

loving it!! the 3-minute timed game is great with unlimited lives to really be able to better yourself....but have yet to unlock anything yet 'cuz I had to go to work. 71% unlocked for King mode....can't wait to get home.

Awesome, I have the original on Steam on my computer, but since then I've gotten a 360 Elite, so this is definitely going to be a buy for me. SSHD as well as the original has given me lots of practice for hectic games such as this.

I've been playing it for a few hours now (more like 1 and 1/2) but it is FUN compared to the older one.

Download speed is mega slow for me, 40 meg download is only at 40% after 20 minutes....

Time to get rid of the dial-up, man.

Lol, my cable provider is garbage, Im paying 60 bucks a month for 8mbps download speeds but even web pages load slow as hell sometimes

Either your router has some closed ports or your ISP is capping your d/l speeds on certain ports to stop torrenting/bandwidth use/etc.

I'd suggest doing a speedtest and then checking router ports. It actually might help.

Because I'm playing the real reigning king of humbstick shooters, Super Stardust HD.

I would rather play a thumbstick shooter than a humbstick shooter thank you very much. Humbstick sounds like it would hrut too much.

I just wish the multiplayer was available over Live, yet it's absent just like multi over Live was in Omega Five.

No excuse, so they remain quiet as to "why".

It's the number of objects (enemies) and bullets that would create massive amounts of lag. You are tracking a lot more than a 16 player match here.

Get past 50,000 points and you'll find out. :-)

The game is awesome. I just played enough to get all the achievements except the two for the sequence mode. The "Rebound" achievement is a real bitch.

heh...I'm still working on wax-off on Pacifism....3 times I've gotten 99% completion. My high score is 2.3million but there's a kid on my friend's list who has THIRTY-FIVE million points on Pacifism....

Sorry geometry wars is far from "king of dual-stick shooters". The only people that think that are those that are missing out on SuperstardustHD on PS3.

Geometry Wars is good, but nowhere near as good as SSHD..

My opinion could beat up your opinion.

I just wish the different weapons were in this game...I miss the super fast shot and the 3-shot spray :(.
