Armored Core for Answer, the thirteenth title in From Software's giant mech love fest, is preparing to stomp onto North American shores later this year. Ubisoft is set to publish the laboriously-titled game, which will unload onto both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in September.
Armored Core for Answer follows 2007's Sega-published Armored Core 4, and promises to once more let players slip behind the controls of a giant modular war machine, with "epic" boss fights, "seamless" 2-player co-op and 7-player competitive modes promised as well. Much like most games that come out of Japan, Armored Core for Answer pits rebels against a malevolent megacorp with the fate of the world, not to mention precious customizable parts (130 new, 400 total), hanging in the balance.

Wow Jakka, never knew you liked spanking another man's arse. Truly into some odd stuff there, man. Could you be so kind as to take that elsewhere? Half my homo friends hit on me as it is, I don't need some unfunny nerd (literally) hitting on me aswell.

MW4 and its expansion packs was amazing. I WANT ANOTHER MECH WARRIOR GAME.
AC games are a bit to "Transformer-ish" or "anthropomorphic robot" for my tastes. I like the more "walking tank" realistic direction that the MW games brought. Chromehounds was ok, but I thought the controls were borked. I wanted to love that game, but ended up selling it after only a few missions. I really need a quality mech fix...

Only thing it was missing was a 40 button controller. Steel Battalion still takes top prize.

LOL @ Xoviet's comment, though truthfully if I had the budget at the time, I would've bought the 40-button controller too. Did lots of people play Steel Battalion?

Chromehounds and Armored Core are different enough that I don't try to base my expectations of one on the other. One is realistic. One has you flying sideways, firing pulse rifles at a plane the size of a football stadium. I'll take Armored Core any day.

I'm actually pumped for the 2 player co-op. I tried the demo from Japan, but the demo was frustratingly incohesive to a non-japanese speaking player. 2 player co-op though, win win for me.

I'm not a mecha-nerd, but Armored Core 4 was fun.
Maybe it's just me, though. *shrugs*

You're the "core" since you're the main brain and the heart of a Mech - right in the center of it.
Now you're surrounded by a bulletproof tons of steel which act as an armor.
Bam! Armored Core.

Why do people insist on comparing Armored Core and MechWarrior? Its like comparing Looney Tunes and Batman : The Animated Series... yes they're both cartoons and they're both pretty good but the comparisons end there.
Mechwarrior was meant to be relatively 'realistic' mech combat where as Armored Core was supposed to be the over the top Gundam anime styled mech combat.

Please God, don't let this one suck. I'm craving a good AC game that doesn't totally blow.

I really, really liked Armore Core 2 and the 3 games that came after it. I was soured on the series after that because it was the same thing over and over again, with some new parts thrown in. Their is no overlapping story and the missing coninuity gets really annoying.
but...
This co-op intruiges me. I was able to rent and beat Armore Core 4, but this might just get me to purchase my first AC game in 4 years.

I miss the first armored core where you could actually make a small mech that actually moved quickly and could actually dodge shit... They slowed it down way too much at this point...

I dunno, I had a pretty agile little number in AC4. Then again, it wasn't nearly as good as my heavy grenade-toting mech, Trogdor, but maybe they'll balance things a bit more this time around.

I'm actually excited about this title. Armored Core Silent Line I thought was the best UNTIL Armored Core 4 came out. AC4 made the controls alot more user friendly and they stripped away alot of the excess crap from the old games that ruined the experience (heat damage, extra core parts, etc). Even though it LOOKS like AC4 had alot fewer parts, all they really did was remove all of the obsolete parts the older games had. When you look at the old AC games about 65% of the parts in the game had an upgraded version that made the original version obsolete in every way, thus making you not need the part any longer. AC4 simply eliminated that annoyance.
And also, you can never go wrong with huge bosses.

I think Ace Combat taught us all the value of ludicrous boss fights.
