Zombies!!! coming to Xbox Live Arcade???

We caught up with Todd A. Breitenstein of Twilight Creations in the extremely slim booth congregation at Comic-Con's gaming portion and he said, "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of such a project... but do you think it would be cool?" A tile-flipping game was an escape from ravenous zombies plot? Heck yes, we would. While we enjoy getting our game on in Catan, Carcassonne, and even Ticket to Ride, we'd also love to see some good old-fashioned killing of the undead happening as well. Maybe they could even include their flipside game Humans!!! in the deal.
[Thanks, Barry!]

Problem being that Zombies!!! isn't really that good of a game. In fact, the two times I've played it, it's almost ground to a halt because the entire board filled up with zombies and it was impossible for anyone to even move because the board was so choked.
Not to mention that it just wasn't that interesting to begin with. Zombie games really need to be filled with humor, because they just don't work straight-faced.
Will @ Jul 30th 2008 8:15AM
I loved Zombies!!!, personally.
Jeremy @ Jul 30th 2008 8:57AM
I didn't like the game either for pretty much the same reason. They were not misleading anyone when they name the game Zombies with three exclamation points. However, a digital version would be more enjoyable since you don't have to add zombies manually.

That's when you grab that shotgun and start clearing some space! That's how most people win anyway. Personally, I've never seen anyone actually make it to the helicopter.

Is this that Left 4 Dead tabletop game!?
Anam @ Jul 30th 2008 9:10AM
I'm guessing you were playing with more than two players both times you played? The problem with the game is that Player 1 moves and flip tile and zombies move, then Player 2 moves and flip tile and zombies move, etc. The more players you have, the more tile flipping and zombie movement occurs before its your turn again, making a four-player game crappy where no one can make any progress until all the tiles are gone, and then it's just a race to the helipad.
If you play with just two players, the game flows better. A lot better. It's fun actually. Not a great game, but a decent game for two players.
Nate @ Jul 30th 2008 10:59AM
Anam - yeah, it was like a four player game both times. That may have been the problem. No one had any chance of getting anywhere near the Helicopter. It was statistically impossible after a certain point.
Anam @ Jul 30th 2008 11:41AM
Nate - Yep, sounds about right. A friend and I played the game and enjoyed it, so we decided to play with a group and everyone was like "this is shit."
The solution we found was to play Arkham Horror instead.
Phylicus @ Jul 30th 2008 8:06AM
I would eat her brains for sure.
Pimliconite @ Jul 30th 2008 10:23AM
Starting at both ends, at some point you guys will "meet in the middle", leading to awkwardness.
Shagittarius @ Jul 30th 2008 11:42AM
Like a zombie version of Lady and the Tramp, only it'll be more like , Tramp and the tramp.
bluestriker @ Jul 30th 2008 11:55AM
I would.

*sighs happily* I love Joystiq. It's like every day, I get to read an interactive novel composed of wacky characters and silly dialog. The fact that these wacky characters are actually real people and the silly dialog is actually really what they are saying to each other and me just makes it that much more awesome. I love you guys. :)

I wonder if the XBLA version is going to be as freakin' SLOW as the original.
Ghen @ Jul 30th 2008 8:07AM

Alex Sohn @ Jul 30th 2008 9:18AM

Rosy cheeks make every post even better! Very cute.
McWeen @ Jul 30th 2008 8:24AM
I wonder if XBLA version of a board game helps the physical game sell better.
Dwag @ Jul 30th 2008 8:31AM
XBLA is starting to look like garbage where's my XNA?
baby sea tuna @ Jul 30th 2008 8:34AM
Are you on drugs, or just retarded?

ScottG13 @ Jul 30th 2008 8:40AM
Umm... Geometry Wars 2, Bionic Commando & Castle Crashers not work for you? Really?
Jonah Falcon @ Jul 31st 2008 12:02AM
Um, Go! Go! Break Steady is an XNA game.
Dwag @ Jul 30th 2008 8:39AM
@baby sea tuna
Only two games interest on that list and that Geometry Wars 2 and Castle Crashers.
No need for you to go ask dumbass questions.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 30th 2008 8:59AM
No need for you to expect a five-star title each week.
Duke @ Jul 30th 2008 10:01AM
Doesn't seem like a dumbass question since you answered that 2 of the titles do interest you. Don't be such a tool.
Dwag @ Jul 30th 2008 10:04AM
@Duke
Are you retarded?
does that sound like a good question to ask. You're the one sounding like tool.
Duke @ Jul 30th 2008 11:10AM
Yeah, obviously everyone sees it different than you. Jackass.
Dwag @ Jul 31st 2008 11:29AM
@Duke
Jackass LOL, Why waste all this time on me when all I stated was XBLA is starting to look garbage and where's my XNA?
ScottG13 @ Jul 30th 2008 8:39AM
More exposure for the deep universe of table-top gaming is a good thing.
Dadidito @ Jul 30th 2008 9:09AM
Waiting for Puerto Rico my self... but the more board games the better. My dream would be axis and allies over live. oh yeah. Probably be too much for the constraints of xboxlive though.
ScottG13 @ Jul 30th 2008 9:31AM
I don't see why not. The PC versions were pretty solid.
Risk 2 would be pretty spicy, too.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 30th 2008 9:01AM
I wonder if she'll let me take a sip of her Big K Vanilla Cola.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 30th 2008 12:05PM
Hmm...
I couldn't help but post something regarding upvoting/downvoting.
I noticed that my goofy vanilla cola comment had been upvoted to 2 1/2 stars earlier, and is now down to 2 stars again. By no means is it a substantial comment, so of course I'm not torn up about it :) but I have to wonder what the motivation is behind downvoting it. You people sure do pique my curiosity.
Saria the Cat @ Jul 30th 2008 4:00PM
@dark_inchworm: I think that it's just part of the faulty comment system. I notice one of my comments going from 2.5 to 2 hearts but then when I reload, it's back to 2.5 hearts, so maybe the comment system just wasn't registering the change in hearts or something.
dark_inchworm @ Jul 30th 2008 9:12PM
You're probably right. Thank you for the insight. :)
Saria the Cat @ Jul 31st 2008 3:28AM
Sorry to ruin the magic, though. :P
FOXHOUND @ Jul 30th 2008 9:01AM
Nice post all the way around. :]
Can't say I've heard of the game, but I'll give it a shot.
