Got a URL handy? Play The Last Guy on it
By now you should've watched that first video of Sony's upcoming satellite-powered PSN title The Last Guy. If so, you'll totally get how this works. If not, well ... go watch it, then come back. So, instead of plopping in some Google Maps imagery and having the game dynamically generate a level out of that, the Last Guy Japanese website uses URLs to dynamically generate levels.
You can go ahead and try Joystiq.com (it's a game blog, maybe you've heard of it) by clicking on that image above. Got another URL that works better? Share with your fellow 'stiqers in the comments.

at the pricepoint this looks like a very fun title,
Lots of potential

It doesn't seem all that fun to me. Also, I see the satellite level make having quite a few glitches.

What's Joystiq.com? I've never heard of it.

I'm on a T3 network here at work and this is going thuper slow...

Joystiq level is pretty difficult because of the thin stretch of white around the edge.
Neuromancer @ Jul 31st 2008 2:07PM
So wait, Chris, in the real game I thought the levels were predesigned. Are you saying we can pick our own part of the world and the game will autocreate a level based off that? If so that would be truly badass.
Triscuit @ Jul 31st 2008 2:08PM
Is it supposed to be this slow to load? It seriously just took a full minute to go from "10%" to "16%".
triscuit @ Jul 31st 2008 2:11PM
How long did it take to load for you Chris?
Anticrawl @ Jul 31st 2008 3:15PM
Heh, it took me about 45 seconds to load the whole thing.
OriginalWangster @ Jul 31st 2008 2:40PM
Dude this game is fun. Don't do news sites though, the format generally makes it really hard.
It's ironic because I just read something about zombie attacks here
Anticrawl @ Jul 31st 2008 3:17PM
Heh, it's a neat little game. Wouldn't buy it though. Gotta get ready for work now.

In all honesty, I have to say this game is pretty unimpressive. The website gimmick does nothing for me.
Veko @ Jul 31st 2008 3:29PM
I loaded up the link you had to the Joystiq one, and played it (couldn't beat it). After that I tried two other pages which both failed after loading to 80% and then freezing for a minute or so before failing. Now nothing will load at all, I just get a page load error.
Lame. I want to play more.

This is actually pretty fun. The joystiq level is pretty hard, it took me 3 tries before i passed it. I recommend trying google.com since thats the easiest level i played.
