The demo was fun - let's hope the rest of the game is as well. Should I try to find a bottle of champagne with a really thick neck to celebrate the release of another Unreal 3 powered title?

Not UE3 powered.

Seriously, that's what the lawsuit was all about....

Er... well there were rumors going around a few years ago about Silicon Knights dropping UE3, but they were debunked. SO far as I know, TH is indeed powered by UE3.

The lawsuit was over an alleged breach of contract on SK's licensing of the engine. Wrongfully or not, they felt that Epic hadn't held up their end of the contract by providing a finished engine to them. Not sure whatever became of that.

Well, Wikipedia says I'm wrong, but I'll be damned if I can find an article about that on Joystiq.

May I ask what do you gain if this game fails?

I hope you are completely wrong and it turns out hit. That way you fanboy dream world is ruined.

I played the demo and loved. Already pre-ordered the game and I am sure I will enjoy it.

Man, I tried this game, and I just didn't like it. All you did was flick the analog stick around to attack with sword. Then, you held down triggers for ranged. It was very repetitive, not very fun. I will certainly pass.

we dont not like the game for no reason tho. The reason is its a bad repetitve game thats not fun to play. I was actually going to buy this game, hearing so much about it, then I played the demo. No thank you. I think ill stick with braid for XBLA or something instead until saints row 2 comes out, which should hold me until GOW2, which should hold me until starcraft 2, which should last me until xbox 10 is released (I still play starcraft 1 :p )

Alot of people (Myself included) downloaded the demo to see if all the fuss D.D was making, was indeed warranted. After playing the demo, it's quite obvious that he never had a leg to stand on in the first place. I'm sure he'll rationalize it as being the fault of Epic, since he had to fabricate a new engine from scratch after UE3 wasn't good enough for him (it's good enough for Gears of War 2, but not Too Human? Ugg).

After playing the demo (went back and played more classes after they became available due to the stupid time lapse insanity....you get one chance usually with a demo to impress someone, and you keep what you think is an ace up your sleeve? Why?) I can't really describe the game as anything other than a mere shadow of the Diablo series, with much less involved combat, and just a general feeling of mediocrity. To be fair, it's absolutely true that the games engine was created in a very short amount of time, but even if you feel sympathy for D.D (After his insane rambling on the 1up yours podcast, I don't) it doesn't make the game a AAA title, or even just an A title.

I realize that everyone likes different things, and that there may be a ton of people out there that like Too Human in the end (I doubt it), but I'm going to go ahead and predict that it's sales won't go past half that number (900k) during the first week, if not month. If it hits a million sold total this year, I'll be pretty surprised.

You should change your name because you're clearly a fanboy. I actually have all three consoles. I hate the Wii, and i hate Micrsoft. I love the 360 however, i just hate the way MS handles it (charging for pictures?).

This game, however, sucks. You can't defend it, it's a joke. From the title screen, i knew it would be bad.

The_Punisher,
How am I clearly a fanboy? I like all of my systems; they are all really great at what they do. I just can't stand whiny morons that bitch about everything. I mean, seventh grade sucked enough without having to listen to it all over again from idiot posters on Joystiq.

I downloaded the demo, and my impressions:

Controls were meh
Camera was horrible
Graphics... nothing spectacular

What I was thinking it would be would be similar to Diablo in game style: run through tons of enemies, pick up cool stuff, make your dude incrementally cooler until a boss and then get something much nicer, repeat ad nauseum.

Problem was a story that looked really dumb, controls that at times felt too complicated and other times felt too simple, a camera that couldn't keep up and when you recentered it just went into place, no feeling of camera movement (I hate that), and it looked like an Xbox1 game.

I'll pass.

Seriously? I play my DS too and I thought the graphics on Too Human were really meh. In-game cinematics looked super robotic, pull up the menu screen where you outfit your characters and the textures looked really low res...

What it did do right were lighting effects (the bullets and swords as they arced in the air), and the environments, but other than that I wasn't too impressed.

Controls were really fun.
Graphics were fine.
Camera didn't bother me due to large open areas, unlike other games like DMC that have fixed cameras but also close-quarters corridor fighting.

I've always liked using right stick for combat in games.

Look your odvoiusly trying to run me off joystiq (and the internet for that matter) Prince Bowser. It's not gonna work. Whenever I give an opinion...you pop up and attack me instead of giving your thoughts about the topic.

And it seems your the only one doing this. See I know the next step, your gonna try and rally people in here to run me off simply becuase I'm irrelevant to you and becuase I don't like the homosexual lifestyle.

Give up ok, becuase I already predicted just about every move your gonna make to get me banned or something...but it's not gonna work becuase I haven't done anything to anyone.

Instead, why don't you do something more important than attacking me....like...uhh...tell everyone what you think of the Too Human demo. Yeah, that'll work.

The demo was a bit disappointing, they really should have reconsidered that control scheme... People like pushing buttons to do attacks, it's a fact.

Clearly, judging from some of these comments, that doesn't mean 900k people liked it.

Personally, I thought the demo was relatively underwhelming. I usually love cybernetic sci-fi stuff, but overall this just didn't appeal to me. If I had to pick out one issue, I felt the controls were pretty clunky, unresponsive, and generally unsatisfying.

The combat is so unsatisying because the stick movements don't make it feel like you're actually hitting anything, plus the combos are awkard to hit and the shooting feels like you are shooting spitballs. I haven't erased the demo yet but I probably will soon.

I cant believe that this game is so polarizing. This is as bad as politics at this point.

I like the game, I am buying it (I rarely buy games). There is something that speaks to a particular type of gamer out there and offends another type. I hope that it does well and wish the guys at silicon knights all the best. If not for Too Human than for Eternal darkness and the twin snakes. Why is there so much hate for any developer defies me. Forget the casual, the fanboys will be the end of good games.

This is an action game now?

I thought it was a diablo-style dungeon crawler??

These guys have two major handicaps to overcome if they want to sell this game:
(1) Everyone seems to think its supposed to be a God of War style action game, so they are gonna be very disappointed by the controls. (which are definitely better than the "click a button and hold" of diablo, but which will need to be unlocked as you progress).
(2) Everyone is used to using the right-analogue to control the camera. It takes about 2-3 hours to adjust from your pre-learned habits.

I suspect the ratio of: people willing to play the game until they unlock the new skills and get used to the camera : number of people who'll play it for 10 minutes and then bitch on the internet, is not in their favour...

Using the right stick to aim where you're going to hit is far more satisfying then pushing a button to me. And yea, most people just wont give it a chance due to it being different.

Unfortunately, I think this is true. I played it for a couple of minutes I had to spare and found a lot of things that annoyed me, the first being as you mentioned, that the right stick didn't control the camera. I really didn't have a good time with it.

Then I decided to go back later and give it a real try and play all the way through the demo a couple of times, and I had a blast once I got used to how everything worked.

Sadly though, I'd guess that a huge percentage of gamers out there won't have to patience to try it after their quick 5 minutes of being annoyed.
