You may think you know who the King of Snacks is. The chubby guy, right? Well no, in fact, you're wrong. Also, you're a racist. And though we normally don't associate with your type, we've gone ahead and recorded a podcast for you to enjoy.
Bear audio witness to a new Tip of the Week, the return of the Brush With Fame and some assorted gaming discussion! Bear it! (This week's thunderous photochopping comes to us from JPAG member Danny Lujan. Thanks, Dan!)

oh man that takes me back to theater 101 in college... nothing can describe how cripplingly embarassing it is to come back to the dorm with a theater text book with a giant black-face minstrel guy's face on the front with ridiculously exaggerated lips when you're roommate is black.

Question: why is the podcast still sponsored by AOE3?
From the RSS Feed:
"SPONSORED BY: Age of Empires III - Real-Time Strategy Game Control a European power on a quest to colonize and conquer the New World. AOE3 introduces new gameplay elements, as well as new civilizations, units, and technologies. http://www.ageofempires3.com/"

Maybe Al Lowe can buy the rights to Leisure Suite Larry back! That would be great, Magna Cum Laude was horrible, and the world needs a new Larry game.

Justin, that's so awesome that you played The Realm Online. I played that game in beta form back in the day. My friend worked at Sierra Online and was one of the programmers on it.

How come no one ever comments on the actual podcast? Only me and Marek Hryc which is weird because that name is nearly my name...

Weird! It is true though.
Also glad the Brush is back to it's old format, since living in Quebec I couldn't get one before.

About episodic games and TellTale criticism...
You guys are forgetting that HotHead came out with a guaranteed seller. A game (or anything) called Penny Arcade is going to sell to people automatically. When TellTale first started making Sam & Max games, it was unexplored territory. The last time anybody heard that name was over a decade ago. It wasn't a guaranteed seller. To bring it out any way other than the way that they did (with no publisher) would have been a gamble in a world where people perceive the adventure genre and market as largely dead.

Definitely a good point. I think what I was trying to say is that Hothead's technology allowed them to span multiple platforms very easily, and that was a strategic decision they made early on. Telltale wasn't without resources – they were making money on titles like their CSI game.
I mean, I love Telltale's games and the format they're helping revolutionize, but I think limiting something like episodic gaming to one platform (especially if that platform is Windows) is a bad move.

Windows is the place to be if you're only shooting for one platform. It has the largest install base and it is the cheapest to develop for (no licensing fees, etc). Adventure games reach audiences that shooters do not, plus a cartoon dog and "rabbit" are highly marketable figures. Its success and the fact that it's now coming to consoles is a testament to that.

Glad we can get back to the original Brush with Fame. I would again like to draw attention to the fact that I am in fact the originator of the Blue Berry Muffin Tops Revolution. Could I consider myself a cult leader? Maybe... Is that not worth a brush. plus the fact that in my email I was scrutinized for having no name when in fact my last name is Ficken and thats how I am known. I found myself looking at the facebook page smiling at the pictures of Blue Berry Muffin Tops. I was considering making an email but thought I could broaden it here. Do you guys smile when you see your self in a photoshop? Are you flattered?
hoping for an answer and a brush

Love joystiq and really enjoy listening to the show. I try to catch the show every week and usually agree with everyone's opinion about games. This week though all of you bash Siren:Blood Curse pretty hard. If Siren was a Pinata it's entrails would be all over the ground for little children to ingest. The game was dismissed as a clunky wanna-be survival horror game with terrible one liners from bad American actors. I very much disagree! I've played 6 of the 12 episodes and i love the game. The first few levels are dark, almost claustrophobic which works really well for the survival horror genre that it is. But as night becomes morning the level of sight opens up and the visuals are pretty impressive. You play as multiple characters that all feel different and play well. I really enjoyed playing the little girl in the hospital because it was a nice change of pace because you were forced to use stealth and hide constantly from the creatures roaming the floors. Heart pounding moments.
You said you would continue to play through the game so by the time you read this I hope your opinion of the game are more positive and you could write a little bit about what the game does well (much more eloquently than me I’m sure).
I hope the podcast didn't turn people away from Siren because it's worth checking out. And play it in the dark or the atmosphere will be ruined.
Love the show,
Keep up the good work.

In Geometry Wars 2, you don't need a restart option. I've been restarting so often that it takes about 1 second to do the entire sequence:
START (bring up menu)
UP (highlight Exit)
A (Exit, brings up confirmation)
DOWN (Highlight Yes)
A (Yes, returns to game selection menu)
A (Start most recently played game type)
That's six motions/button presses.
You'd need three actions if Restart was just below Resume, and only if there's no confirmation. It becomes five if there's a confirmation.
Start
Down (Highlight Restart)
A (Press Restart)
Down (Confirmation Yes)
A (Yes)
